Guest Aaron Vessup
Shocked but not Surprised. The horrible summer of 1919 was more terrifying for Blacks across country in the U.S.A. than for Whites. All Americans with different goals. The book RED SUMMER is a documentation and not so subtle reminder of the foundation upon which Black Americans seek to build shelters for survival. The events of 100 years ago reflect that fears and motivations driving the current levels of social deniable and blind ambivalence to a tradition abusive police behavior against citizens of color. Author, Cameron McWhirter, of RED SUMMER, traces key activist organizations and national cities to document the seeds and spreading terror that rises and falls like natural tides. This book provides and excellent landscape and backstory that supplements contemporary literary testimonies.
