OBSERVING THE ZOO ANIMALS OF AFRICAN ORIGIN.THE OLD AND THE YOUNG ANIMALS ARE BORN AT THE ZOO..THEY ARE FED AT THE ZOO ..THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF AFRICA..ZEBRA,OSTRICH,GIRAFFE AND RHINOCEROS NO KNOWLEDGE OF ROAMING AFRICA'S LAND FREELY.LION MALES, NO KNOWLEDGE OF LEADING A LION PRIDE.LIONS,CHEETAHS AND LEOPARDS NO KNOWLEDGE OF HUNTING,CHASING PREY AND POUNCING UPON IT..GORILLAS,CHIMPANZEES,MONKEYS IN TREES EATING LEAVES..HIPPOS AND CROCODILES IN THE RIVER.ZEBRAS WITH IN THE WILDEBEEST,ANNUAL MIGRATION CROSSING THE RIVER ,TRYING TO ESCAPE CROCODILES.FEMALE ELEPHANTS,THE MATRIARCH LEADING ELEPHANT HERDS ,JOURNEYING ACROSS AFRICA'S ANCIENT LANDS..THE ZOO ANIMALS REMINDS ME OF SLAVE PLANTATIONS.CHILDREN BORN TO CAPTIVE PARENTS CONFINED..SOME BLACK PEOPLE ARE LIKE THE ZOO ANIMALS NO KNOWLEDGE OF AFRICA.NO KNOWLEDGE OF AFRICA'S HISTORY, CULTURE OR RELIGION..SOME BLACK PEOPLE,WHO ARE NOT BEHIND BARS,SOME BLACK PEOPLE,THEIR SOUL,MIND,ARE MORE CONFINED THAN THE ANIMALS CONFINED AT THE ZOO...

An interesting comparison. Going further you could say that while some African Americans are confined to an invisible zoo when it comes to their heritage, others are learning the laws of the jungle, running wild in the the inner cities. Also, zoo animals are nurtured and groomed and cared about, unlike America's black residents.

Mentally speaking, it is important for Blacks to know about their origins, but preoccupation with the past is not going to be that beneficial for these uprooted natives because, in order to survive, they have to adjust to the environment of a different country that requires learning to stay afloat in the mainstream.

History is one thing; economics is another. The assimilated descendants of slaves have to be able to cope with the present in order to thrive. We have to become a new breed that endeavors to provide for the future not linger in the past. IMO.

Interesting anaology, but why limit it to Black people . We are all "Bred in Captivity". What makes of any different in that regard to the Europenas, Mexcains, Asian's or any other group that has been here more than a couple of generations?

Most white people don't have passports are not clamoring to any great extent to recapature the European traditions from the "old country".
