Kathy Whitehead
Kathy Whitehead’s interest in writing for children grew out of her elementary teaching experience. Seeing the impact and enjoyment children derived from quality children’s literature was always amazing and a delight.
Kathy’s love of history and the world around her have culminated in her own writing efforts. A visit to Melrose Plantation near Natchitoches, Louisiana, resulted in her picture book biography Art From Her Heart: Folk Artist Clementine Hunter, (G. P. Putnam’s Sons) which examines the life and art of African-American artist Clementine Hunter who lived on the plantation.
She lives in College Station, Texas.
