Laetitia Ky is a 1-Time AALBC.com Bestselling Author

Laetitia Ky is an artist, photographer, model, actress, activist, fashion designer, and social media influencer from Abidjan, Ivory Coast. She uses her hair as a sculptural art medium to ignite awareness and conversations around the social justice topics she champions: sexism and internalized misogyny, racial oppression, reproductive rights and consent, harmful beauty standards, shame and its corrosive effect on mental health, and others.

Ky’s debut book, Love and Justice: A Journey of Empowerment, Activism, and Embracing Black Beauty (PA Press, April 2022) is a visual memoir that combines her bold and intimate storytelling with 135 powerful color photographs of her art, exploring those social justice topics through the personal lens of her own experiences growing up and living in Ivory Coast, West Africa. In addition to a broader understanding of the global feminist movement and women’s empowerment through Ky’s unique perspective, readers will also come away with an inspirational invitation to join her on their own journey of self-love and self-expression.

Ky and her art and activism have been featured in NYLON, Ebony, Elle, on CNN.com, and more, and she has partnered with brands such as Apple, Canada Goose and Marc Jacobs on social content creation. Ky was named one of PAPER magazine’s “top 100 people taking over 2019.” You can follow her art and activism on TikTok and Instagram: @LaetitiaKy.
