Rachel Renée Russell is an attorney and the author of the bestselling Dork Diaries children’s book series. The series has received two Children’s Choice Awards For Book of the Year (5th/6th Grade Division) and a Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Award nomination for Best Book. Rachel was the recipient of the 2014 Milner Award For Children’s Literature. The Dork Diaries series has sold over 30 million copies with translation into 36 languages worldwide, and movie rights have been optioned by Lionsgate Summit films.

“My daughters, Erin and Nikki are my inspiration for writing Dork Diaries. They are both a lot like Nikki Maxwell—very DORKY. Many of the events in the book series are based on real life experiences my daughters and I had when we attended middle school. I’m thrilled to know that my book series has inspired so many young girls and boys to be proud of their uniqueness and embrace their inner DORK!”

She lives in Northern Virginia
