Informal membership-based reading and discussion group that meets every second Saturday of each month, except for July & August. We began in March of 1993 and have a membership base of 16 men & women (which includes associate members who live out of State). We will be starting new branches in Atlanta and Virginia Beach by June 2000. We read and discuss books of fiction written by African-American's exclusively. Five times a year we host local or visiting authors to do readings & book signings as well as self-publishing and writing seminars. We host community events such as a Juneteenth program and we actively participate in community events such as the SF School Volunteers annual African-American Read-In Chain.
