The entire history of the African American experience is important to learning. While many books by Black authors have become popular in recent years that was sadly untrue of others now deceased. Black book authors, many now recognized for their talent, often lacked acceptance and widespread support in years passed.

Since the written word is eternal, it is not too late to enjoy the works of these fine but unappreciated artists. While many booksellers only carry the most recent or bestselling selections, we are committed to offering a full range of writing that truly expresses the African American experience. We carry many selections by authors no longer with us, and invite you to look beyond the latest bestsellers when choosing books. The past still has so much to offer us all.

That’s why we specialize. Our goal is to provide a wide variety of books by Black authors to fit almost any preference and taste. We exist to encourage the expression of Black artistic talent through writing.

Some of the finest African American authors in history are unfortunately now deceased. Black book authors in years gone by had a very difficult time gaining acceptance and sometimes even getting published despite the quality of their work. Still, they dedicated their lives to their art, understanding its importance. We carry many of these fine works today; we encourage you to enjoy these works of yesteryear. A greater understanding of the past always leads to a richer appreciation of the present.
