I noticed that only 20% of my Facebook friends are actually fans of AALBC.com (The African American Literature Book Club).

I would really appreciate it if you took a second to click this link and become a Fan of AALBC.com. Not only will you have the opportunity to learn about authors and books you’ll help raise the profile of AALBC.com.

Vote for Troy to be the face of About Me!

Here is a very modest request to help me get my face on a billboard in Times Square!

It’s easy, just head to my About.me page and click "vote".

This is obviously a promotional tool to help AOL promote their About.me service. However it will also help me better understand the impact of my reach, so please vote for me. it will just take is 2 mouse clicks. Plus if I win it would be pretty cool!

Please become an ambassador of AALBC.com.

I know many of you already are and I truly appreciate each and everyone one of you. Please tell your friends about AALBC.com. Please use the social media icons to share AALBC.com articles, which appeal to you, with your friends.

This appeal is perhaps the most important one I’m making in this email. Like no time before, multinational corporations are crowding out independent voices; voices that have traditionally provided much needed balance in what is represented on the World Wide Web — particularly when it comes to people of African descent.

Even Google is working (perhaps unknowingly) against this balance. Check out an article I wrote about the adverse impact Google has on this effect.

Some of you all will be interested in how (or why) I created a mailing list of my Facebook friends.

How: Well the list was pretty simple to create. I used my Yahoo email account to pull in my Facebook contact names and email addresses. You can create a new Yahoo email account just for this purpose.

I then exported my yahoo email contacts into a csv file. Finally, I pulled that csv file into the contact manager that I used to send this email to you. It was that simple.

Why: Facebook does not allow one to, easily, directly message all of their Facebook friends. This is why I created this mailing list. Again, if you don’t want to be on this mailing list you may Click here to unsubscribe. Once you unsubscribe you can not be added back to this mailing list.

Peace,
Troy Johnson
