I was about to surmise the same thing —a biological adaptation. Why would we find foreign accents sexy when it would seem more reasonable to find them odd or even repulsive? I always found foreign accents, including the southern ones attractive all things being equal if a sister had a southern accent I found them more appealing

ObamaCare aka Affordable Care Act Subsidies Expire Soon
ProfD replied to ProfD's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
I hope you're right. We'll find out soon enough. -
AI doesn't benefit the economy in terms of putting money into the pockets of real actors. Only the rich get richer.

Nope. Social media didn't manipulate people into costing Kamala Harris the election aneld helping POTUS OJ win. Kamala Harris was the *wrong* candidate. America isn't ready for a female POTUS. The MAGA base is huge. Independent voters rode with them. Again...nope. Poor people have been voting Republican long before social media. Ask poor white people if they're hurting under POTUS OJ. Wait for answer. Don't interrupt. -
ObamaCare aka Affordable Care Act Subsidies Expire Soon
Troy replied to ProfD's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
While my policy quintupled in price I was able to find another policy that was actually less than what I was previously paying. Now I’m not sure it’s gonna be any good but I can use the doctors I’ve been using so we’ll see. I live in a red state, Florida. I can’t see 20 million people losing benefits at least from from my experience at healthcare.org -
AI are less expensive than real actors — much less.

Cynthia Erivo: Disgracing The Black Woman

Right. This is an example of how black folks need to change their thinking as it relates to jobs and work. It's about ownership. Men own the companies and machines that are doing the work from building electrical grids and infraction to extracting and processing rare earth minerals. -

Yeah, I think that notion is over the top given GQ far too much credit. If it wasn’t for pioneer I wouldn’t even seen the cover I doubt many other black women have seen it — at least those who I’m not on social media. wait just how old are you? You better not be younger than me — cause I’m not an old man If people spend an inordinate time on social media and they are manipulated into not voting for Kamala and others are manipulated into voting for Trump. Has any harm been done? If people are tricked and manipulated into voting against their self interest by those using social media for this purpose is that time on social media not hurting you? -
Not at all. For us heterosexual dudes, a woman's accent whether it's foreign or domestic is one of several traits we find attractive. Some dudes like those husky voice women who sound like they smoke Black & Milds. Other dudes might prefer to hear a light, sweet voice hunming like a bird in his ear. No doubt thhose foreign accents can be catchy too as long as the body matches up well.

Yeah, but if you are asserting something that she says is untrue why don’t you just share the link or admit that you was telling stories or being hyperbolic? Assuming you don’t wanna say you were just lying. Agreed birds have to fly… eventually and drug addicts need to be in rehab. Much of this work is mechanized. I’m not sure how many jobs is gonna produce. It’s not like the old days when guys donned hardhats and went into to tunnels with pickaxes -
As surmised, POTUS OJ didn't deliver anything new or revelatory in his speech. More of the same hot air. POTUS OJ did mention that our military service members will be receiving a warrior dividend, a special check in the amount of $1,776. The American people aren't getting a dime. They will have even less when that big beautiful (ugly) bill goes into effect next year.

That was a......strategic.....response to my statement, lol.

The US population has grown by 195 million people between 1950-2025. About 70 million of those people are immigrants. Right now, the US population is 340 million people. It is projected to be 380 million in 15 years or so. Millions more people still means men and women are carrying out their biological duties. -
IMO, a woman's accent is just another trait like eye and hair color, height, weight, body shape, etc.

It depends WHERE the population is growing and among who. In the West.....the NATIVE population is either stagnant or declining. The only reason the population in general is growing in the West is because of IMMIGRATION and the children of immigrants. When it comes to most immigrant cultures....be they Asian, African, or Latin American....the male/female dynamic is remained pretty much the same; so whatever the men were doing to get women 100 or even 200 years ago, they're doing today. Their approach is the same and their results are the same. But in the West....the male/female dynamic has changed drastically over the past 75 years or so. -

The world population is not shrinking. It is increasing which means men aren't afraid to approach women. Energy and rare earth minerals are just two things that are extremely important to the future. That means very lucrative in terms of getting paid to do the work. Men who look for jobs can afford to feed themselves and/or their families from one month to the next. However, men who invent things and/or seize opportunities build wealth that takes care of generations of people. Two very different mindsets. Our people should be more focused on the latter. -
In 2 weeks, over 20 million Americans will lose the benefits that allow them to have affordable health insurance if it expires. Many folks living in red states will be affected if the subsidies disappear beginning 2026. Sometimes, things have to break in order for people to feel the pain and/or full ramifications of losing it. I'm slightly curious to see how those MAGA folks who benefit from ObamaCare will feel about their leader when they can no longer get a tooth pulled or take their kids to see a pediatrician. The funniest or saddest part depending on your worldview is that wealthy people make the decisions that keep people poor.

So in other words..... He couldn't have waited to put all of that in the State of the Union speech coming up in a month or 2? But he needed to come on primetime to address the nation and say what he's pretty much ALREADY been saying every time he talks to reporters....lol.
-
Gotcha. Technology will facilitate bringing them back to the big screen. Still, using actors who are alive would allow them to make money too.
-
The POTUS address will be a nothing burger. POTUS OJ will tell the American people he knows about their affordability issues. Then, POTUS OJ will proceed to lay blame on POTUS Papa Joe Biden's administration. POTUS OJ blows more hot air than an air fryer.
-
Easy...... Because as far as I'm concerned they're not dead. They live on in Spirit. Imagination is EXTREMELY powerful and it's one of the greatest Gifts given to humanity. You can watch Richard Pryor or Redd Foxx or Esther Rolle on film or video and IMAGINE that they are still acting in their prime. AI will only amplify this already inherent Gift. On top of that...... The younger actors of today don't carry the same MEMORIES of the ones we grew up with. When you see Shirley Hemphill...you can hear her voice and even see her in your mind saying something similar to what I posted...lol. The same with Richard Pryor. I bet you couldn't imagine....say....Nate Parker's voice....if I offered you $100 to do so, lol.
-
I know it's not a movie that will ever come to fruition but I don't get casting dead people to play in it. CGI and AI will blow the budget. It would be cheaper to use living people who either look like or can be made to resemble them.

My response to Troy was that social media could be considered like a religion. Just like religion, I didn't cast aspersion on those who choose to use social media. As an old man, I have no concern over how people choose to use their time as long as they are not bringing hurt, harm or danger to others. Life is short. In the absence of purpose, people should sink their time accordingly in living to the fullest. -
