The Case of the Stagestruck Vampire

I'd scarcely laid eyes on Jasper Knight for three days straight, so when I entered our office on the fourth morning, I went to his desk to do a bit of friendly snooping. Normally I respect his privacy, but it had been over a week since I'd had a case and I was starting to go stir-crazy. As I poked through the pile of papers cluttering Jasper's desk, I gave Lt. Arnhauser a call to see if his department had any cold cases I could look into; "Nothing we could pay you for, Liberty," was his response. "Going through a dry spell?" "I'm afraid so," I sighed. "It's not as worrying, now that Laurelle Grunewald waived our rent in exchange for being on permanent retainer--but I still need to buy groceries and pay Elsa's salary...have a good one, Lieutenant." "Hang in there, Morgan--the fish will bite again soon." Amidst the litter of papers, candy bar wrappers, several receipts from Bruno's cafe and a yo-yo, I found a memo in Jasper's inimitable scrawl:
