Considering the times, I didn't want a design that harkened to Harlem as a Black community. Modern Harlem is a phentypically mixed community. So I thought, New York States color is buff, NY cities color is orange plus blue. Manhattan is blue but I thought it should be concrete, for all the skyscrapers.
So, the collar, the highest point on the shirt, is buff. Then two blue shoulder strips and blue arms. In this case representing manhattan as a part of new york city, the blue color is nyc but the two blue bounds represent the hudson river side harlem strait that buffer the majority of manhattan island. Then the torso is the concrete grey. The undershirt is green, for the native island eternally underneath, lush, vibrant, never forget the usa is built on the near annihilation to another community. Lastly, 125th in an art deco lettering style.
