Third-year medical resident Jack Wheaton has been assigned an intern. The young mystery doctor who he is asked to supervise is impressive in every way. Smart and beautiful, Anita Thomas demonstrated a level of knowledge and expertise beyond her years. Soon, strange things begin to erupt in Anita’s orbit. When Jack eventually demands an explanation, he discovers that she is a biomedical prodigy with a billion-dollar secret being pursed by pharmaceutical assassins bent on extracting everything she knows. When they are finished, they will dispose of Anita and Jack . . . permanently. "With glimpses into the practice of medicine, The Painkillers is a first-rate medical thriller that thrusts an overworked but determined doctor and colorful characters in his orbit into a tangled web of deception involving Big Pharma, insider trading, shady academic and medical ethics, and murder for profit. Outstanding." -Gary Earl Ross, author of the Nickel City mysteries. “ . . . Curiosity got to me, and I read an advance copy of The Painkillers. Gripping. Wildly different. I finished it at past three in the morning. It’s still in my head.” - Larry Niven, Master of Science Fiction Author The Painkillers ISBN No.: 979-8-9905121-1-5

If there's one fantasy genre where Black authors seem to be making significant inroads, it's young adult fiction. As a matter of fact, it seems that many publishers and authors are guiding Black speculative fiction authors in that direction. That being the case, what Black young adult authors/books do you recommend?

Good info. I know Alicia personally, so I'm familiar with her grind. Someone else recently told me about the advantages of developing a platform on Pinterest, and last year I heard some good things about it as well. I've had an account for years but didn't do much with it. That's changing. -

Too Old to Dance But Young Enough to Rock 'n' Roll by L. Gene Brown and K. Ceres Wright is an exciting postapocalyptic SF military story from the point of view of two soldiers, one an African American man, the other an Ethiopian Israeli woman, each commanding their troops to search out and obtain a mysterious element promising to end the war —Protocol 45. In their quest, they must either fight, avoid, or negotiate with armies from Korea, China, and Russia, as well as local gang members, to obtain an elusive peace. But what will this peace cost? L. Gene Brown and K. Ceres Wright have crafted a compelling futuristic tale that shows the grim reality of war—that could happen in today’s climate—where even those who survive pay a heavy price. - Hamil Harris, award-winning journalist (WABJ) and college professor (University of Maryland) Purchase Too Old but Young Enough to Rock 'n' Roll directly from MVmedia or anywhere books are sold. Five Stars October 9, 2024 I never thought I would be reading a Hallmark special made novel in October. I’m not a pumpkin spice type of guy but I found that I really enjoyed it. It is a contemporary family story set around the sea islands during Christmas. I found the family dynamic real and the romance touching. The food descriptions were a bonus and for me(as a foodie) the MVP in the story. I’m ready for the sequel. - David Hankerson, Goodreads review Preorder A Palmetto Christmas today from MVmedia and anywhere books are sold. Release date: November 29, 2024. ISBN no.: 979-8990512009

@Troy We're in the process of completing the entire script as well as working on episode Two. Animation is expensive so we'll work in one to two minute increments until the entire series is complete. Recent advances in animation technology might allow us to move faster. -

Spacefunk gave me the opportunity to stretch my creative muscles and explore a genre that I've been intrigued by for a while now while imagining a future full of afros, aliens, and great music!" — Jessica Cage “My imagination is ignited by real facts, so I began working on my piece for the Spacefunk anthology by my longtime friend Milton by searching for connections between Africa and the stars. One thing that heavily flavored my poem, Space Children Dream of the Last Place, was the Dogon people of Mali. They have an old legend that fishlike creatures from the star Sirius came to Africa some 5,000 years ago and shared many details, including the existence of a second smaller star, invisible to the naked eye. The fact is Sirius B wasn't discovered by European astronomers until 1862.” — Linda D. Addison “I'm excited to be part of this project that brings visions of people from Africa and the African diaspora out in the star-bedazzled velvet blackness of space, searching for meaning, for adventure, for survival, for wonder, for joy. And I can't wait to read these stories.” — Wole Talabi Join the Movement: Support the Spacefunk! Anthology Kickstarter and become part of a groundbreaking celebration of Black speculative fiction.
