@frankster, a drone hit one of the Super Scooper airplanes dropping water on the wildfire.

The drone put a fist-sized hole in the left wing of the . No crash landing or loss of life.

No UAP/UFO/ET.  It was probably some clown trying to gather video for YouTube. 😁😎

As the tech progress and become more available and accessible these things will continue to occur

More and more unsavory characters will begin to own and operate them in a less than safe manner for all kinds of purposes

Tech is just a tool you do not have to study Aeronautical engineering or Avionics to operate a plane...

A used plane can be had for as little as 100 thousand $...some for even as low as 20 thousand $

A good Drone can be had for as little as 500 $ ....some even cheaper.

People in their back yard are making flying machines now by innovating on drones

The law will crack down on those who operate them without the *right* permissions and/or in an unsafe manner.

Operating a drone may not require it but flying a plane definitely requires aviation training. That's why they issue pilot's license.

There's a reason we don't see more privately owned airplanes flying around.

Beyond  the purchase price, owning a plane entails other costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance and storage, etc.).

Sure. Plenty consumers can afford drone.

Of no interest to me but I know a few folks who own drones.

Funny issue is the *home* feature doesn't always work. The drone flies off and doesn't return. $500 just flew away. 🤣😎

True..

Can the Law keep up with tech

Getting a pilots license is like getting a drivers license....

One does not need to study Automotive Engineering to get a drivers license..

I see a lot.....more now.

Even had a student who promised to get me a pilots license free of  cost as he was a flight instructor and had his own school and several aircrafts.

In my travels I have seen kids as young as 9yrs old flying planes over long distances

Sure....so do cars and drones

No tech is perfect.

One can only strive toward perfection...getting better and better but never ever arriving at perfection.

Change is Constant and the Universe is Expanding.

Right.  Engineering knowledge isn't required.  Understanding how flight controls works requires training.

Even with a free pilot's license, I'm imagine you would book a few flight lessons with that instructor before taking to the friendly skies.

Right.  Operating it without knowledge or training could lead to disaster.😎

Exactly....That's my point.

Even a five year old is capable of being trained to fly a plane...

Of course.... I think it was a 6wk course for total of 40hrs of flight time.

True...

You really only need to know how to operate the Vehicle....nothing else

Take for instance my wife....she been driving for over 40 yrs and only knows how to operate a car from inside the drivers seat.

Do not ask her to do anything else with a car beyond fueling it....she does not know how.

There's a reason it is not common practice to train 5-year old's to fly planes.

That applies to the majority of folks driving most vehicles.

I still think it's a bit different when it comes to flying an aircraft.

Very few people can jack a plane and joyride in it.😁😎

True....but they can be.

Just goes to prove my point

Of course its different.....but most people can learn to operate both.

true few people can..

You would be surprise how easy it is....

The only reason planes don't get "jacked" as often as cars is accessibilty and Availability..

cars are park on nearly every street in every major city....if for what ever reason a car  engine stops you get out start walking

planes are kept in an airfield with 24 hr security or worst in a hanger....if for whatever reason a planes engines stops your life is now in jeopardy
