The "promised" land was 40 acres...for each of us.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s oratory drew from his Christian faith.  The promised land is a metaphorical place.  Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. hoped that Black folks would reach some version of it here in America.  Problem is such a place doesn't exist in the physical realm.😎

Where America is concerned, the term  "Promised  Land" is  interchangeable with  "the land of opportunity" phrase, both of which are connected with "the Americsn Dream" idea.  All 3 are illusions 

associated with the element of luck

and, of course, white skin. 🤪
