Building businesses requires an entrepreneurial mentality and spirit. 

 

IMO, AfroAmericans were not taught to embrace entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency. 

 

Our people have been encouraged and conditioned to get an 1) education and a 2) job working for somebody else.

 

When folks lack requisite knowledge, skills and abilities, some of them are reduced to becoming hustlers...con games, prostitution and *illegal* activities.

 

Preachers and pimps are not very different at all.  One has a *legal* hustle.

I've said for over a decade now that we really don't KNOW how White people get their wealth and power.
We THINK we know, based on what we see....but we really don't know.

Here's a White man working at Taco Bell AND he's an alcoholic....but he's got a stay at home wife, 2 kids, and is buying the house he live in AND they have 2 cars.
How is he able to afford that from his one low wage job?

I've jokingly said that White people seem to have some sort of "hook up" that they put eachother on to.
Some secret spot underground where Black folks are not only not allowed but are clueless as to it's existence.
That's where your wholesome foods and meats and other groceries are kept.
That's where your better hospitals are kept with the REAL cures for certain diseases.....lol.

Declare yourself "white" on the census form and all of a sudden as Neely Fuller Jr. put it..."mysterious sources of income" start getting delivered to you out of the blue...lol.
Checks for $15,000 or $20,000 a month start coming to your home and you don't even know why.
So much money you don't even know WHAT to do with it....so you start investing with it and playing around with it and it ends up making you MORE money, lol.

May even get a secret type of cell phone or radio where only White folks can communicate with eachother and share information...lol.

Oh, to be White....lol.

When a White man "claims" to be in poverty, I usually don't believe him right off the bat.
I've seen too many instances where White people come from wealthy immediate families and have access to plenty of money but CHOOSE to live like bums simply because they like being rebellious and not following the "rules" of wealth or being White.

 

Some of them will go as far as living homeless, just so that nobody else will tell them what to do or how to live.

 

If you see a homeless Black man....he's homeless sho'nuff.
But if you see a homeless White man...there's a good chance he has access to money, had family in law enforcement, but has some sort of substance abuse problem or is just rebellious and wants to live like that.

 

 

White folks have status classes among themselves. 

 

I don't blame them.
Our people used to...or perhaps they still do.

Civilization must be TAUGHT.
How to dress, eat, speak, conduct yourself in appropriate settings.
This makes for a cultured and cosmopolitan citizen.

True.  I have met people of all races who chose to live a life of homelessness rather than conform to society. 

 

The mental problem folks are in a different pot altogether.  But, there are some interesting characters walking around amongst us who have chosen to live off the grid for their own reason(s).

 

One of the benefits to being a natural-born clown/comedian is being friendly, fearless, approachable when it comes to meeting people.  Makes it easier to collect comedic source material.  Of course, it also helps to have a solid frame too. 

 

I've met some people who the world would see as bums having no idea of these folks are former scientists, doctors, engineers, professors, doctors, lawyers, etc.   They literally dropped out of society.

True.  I have met people of all races who chose to live a life of homelessness rather than conform to society. 

When I was homeless I met Black people who COULDN'T conform to society...lol.
It wasn't necessarily from lack of effort though.

But many...not all..but many of the White people who were homeless had a rebellious attitude where they WOULDN'T conform based on some sort of weird ass personal belief.

 

They didn't want a job, not because they were lazy but because they didn't want anyone telling them "when to punch in and out".

They didn't want to live with relatives because they were "adults" and didn't want to be controlled by the rules of the house.

In many of them, their homelessness was a choice that with more thought or if times get hard enough..they could snap into better judgement and pull out of it.

 

Ofcourse you had a large percentage of White people who ended up homeless simply because they were alcoholics, drug addicts, and just plain stupid.

I say that to say, you seem a little too serious or intense to be "clownish" or "comedic" in your demeanor.

Not that you remind me of him, because he was as sweet as a bag of skittles...but the late great Paul Mooney was another person who looked too serious....and a little angry....to be a comedian.
He was naturally intelligent and quick witted but his demeanor was way to serious and sometimes you wouldn't know if he's being serious about an issue or joking about one.

This is true.
I personally met homeless people who were school teachers and engineers by profession.
Some tragedy in their life and often times and addiction landed them in that position.

Yep. The late Paul Mooney was one of my favorite comedians. He wrote for the late great Richard Pryor too.

 

The best comedians are often highly intelligent too. They draw from a wealth of knowledge and information and observation to make the world around us...funny.

 

I believe music and comedy make the world a better place.

I would definitely agree.
I met cats who would down a whole fifth of something while you were standing there talking to them...and remained sober!
Their bodies were so used to the alcohol that it took them 3 or 4 bottles of liquor to get drunk.

I've seen SEVERAL of some people....men and women.
I...being new to the experience myself...didn't believe they were really homeless.
I thought they were case workers trying to mingle in with the people, and other times I thought they were undercover police officers trying to mingle in and get information.
People informed me that no...they really WERE assed out and on the street and had been in that condition for YEARS.
 

Intelligent AND articulate.
But just....had shit going on they couldn't manage.

I knew people like that in my family.
They weren't homeless but they still lived very irresponsible lives.
It makes me wonder how people like that...so irresponsible and shitty can still raise such intelligent and successful children.

Even if they aren't very educated and from the streets....they have a very high intellect.
 

If you think about it, you need a pretty well working brain to put together lyrics that make sense, flow it smoothly, and REMEMBER them...especially when you go on tour and have to do live shows.
You can't be retarded and do that.
