aka Contrarian Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 How about that? The new Pope is from Chicago . Let's hear it for LeoXIV!
ProfD Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 Congrats to Leo XIV the 1st American pope. Hopefully, his papacy will not be corrupted by US politics.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 Chicago is having a a field day amidst all the attention garnered by homeboy Robert Prevost being selected the new Pope. Bobblehead dolls are on order, Da BEARS have made him an honorary coach, its famous deep dish pizza and Chicago style hot dogs are honoring him in imaginative ways, T-shirts and jerseys and caps are flooding the market. The hapless White Sox won a game in tribute to him being a lifelong fan. Rumor has it Black street gangs are joking about making him an honorary member while jokes about The Mob making sure he won the election are circulating. It's good to have something to take our minds off the anti-Christ occupying the presidency.
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 Not only is this disappointing but it's a good example of what's wrong in THIS world and why the people really DO need a "Messiah" to come and straighten things out....lol. No matter how much violence and bloodshed is going on, as long as the media can keep the people focused on near meaningless rituals and traditions that don't help a damn thing....many REAL problems are less likely to get solved. Despite all of the wars going on around the world from Gaza to Ukraine to Pakistan to Congo...... Despite the violence going on in the city of Chicago itself, and Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner....... The focus is on the conclave and who the next "do nothing" Pope will be or where the new is from and what is his background. For what? What is he going to do to solve the problems of the world? What did the OTHER Popes before him do to solve the problems of the world? The Chicago Sun-Times is focused on the new Pope and where he's from but they NEED to be focused on the bloody weekend coming up and how to solve THAT problem.....for a change.

What did the OTHER Popes before him do to solve the problems of the world? The Pope seems to hold a lot of services and does a lot of praying. Many people believe prayer changes things. Supposedly, the catholic church led by the Pope does a lot of missionary work around the world. The Pope talks to world leaders. Of course, the results seem to be mixed. Folks still starving and being unalived for no good reason.
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 ProfD One could argue that if the Pope was either "doing his job" or "effective" in whatever job he was doing, there would be NO NEED for him or anyone else to continue going around the world doing missionary work. Perhaps initially, but after the first round....the problem is solved and there is no need for it. The fact that there are so many poor people around the world and so many wars and the NEED for so much prayer is a sign of how ineffective some of these pontiffs have been.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 @Pioneer1Go somewhere and sit down! How Chicago chooses to react to their hometown hero is no business of a carpetbagger ding bat like you . There's NOTHING disappointing about this momentary respite from the depressing state of the world! Worry about your own damned broken down city, and take your unsolicited irrelevant opinion and stuff it!

Worry about your own damned broken down city, and take your unsolicited irrelevant opinion and stuff it! A perfect example of what's wrong with this society...... Instead of focused on real issues and solving real problems you want to set trip and gang bang over what city the Pope is from. So is the Pope being from the Chicago area going to solve the problems that plague that city? Is the Pope being from America going to solve the problems that plague America? Why do YOU care where the Pope is from, what is he doing for YOU and YOUR family??? Some people can get happy as hell over absolutely NOTHING.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 @Pioneer1 Oh puleeze. NOTHING you're preaching about had anything to do with Chicagoans having a little tongue-in-cheek fun at the expense of da Pope. Laughter is good medicine. A buffoon like you has a lotta nerve lamenting others exhibiting a sense of humor. It's a wonder you aren't spamming this post with a bunch of goofy pictures. Something you regularly do to make fun of your own race. It's not like you're doing anything to make this world a better place. You're so full of it! Phew.

In YOUR case....laughter isn't a medicine but a SYMPTOM....of a much deeper problem, lol. Quote It's a wonder you aren't spamming this post with a bunch of goofy pictures. . Maybe you beat me to it with that goofy ass toilet paper picture you spammed your own thread with...lol Quote Something you regularly do to make fun of your own race I WOULD make fun of YOURS.....lol....if I knew what it was. Quote It's not like you're doing anything to make this world a better place. I'm keeping a devil like YOU occupied so you can't go out and make more trouble.....aren't I???

Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 If Popes are really the "Vicar of Christ"....why don't they rely on Christ to protect them instead of bullet proof motorcades??
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 Why would I know the answer to that? GO BEARS!
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 31 minutes ago, aka Contrarian said: Why would I know the answer to that? I don't know, but ignorance usually doesn't stop YOU from adding your half a cent to the discussion. Your confidence is legendary...lol.
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 6 minutes ago, aka Contrarian said: And your confidence is unwarranted. .....and neither is your ignorance, in this age of information...lol. However some things must be accepted for what they are.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 And what you are is far lacking in what you believe yourself to be. And not only yourself but what you believe others to be. You don't deal with reality. Because your perception is warped and polluted with ego-mania.
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 Cynique Quote You don't deal with reality. If I didn't deal with reality....I'd assume YOU were a bad dream, lol. Quote Because your perception is warped and polluted with ego-mania. M Is that a typo? What is the "M" for????
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 It's a typo, Dummy. btw, nobody asked you to come on my post and take up space with a lot of trite drivel with zero substance.

You just admitted you screwed up but want to call OTHER people "dummy". Make THAT make sense...lol.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 A typo is nothing to be ashamed of. And, unlike you, I have no problem admitting mistakes. You're really grasping at straws.
Pioneer1 Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 26 minutes ago, aka Contrarian said: A typo is nothing to be ashamed of. But calling OTHER people "dummy" when YOU are the one running around making mistakes IS something you should be ashamed of....if you had shame, lol. But I know you don't know any better, so I won't hold it against you.
aka Contrarian Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 @Pioneer1Just because I make a mistake doesn't preclude you from being a Dummy. You certainly are not a smartie. You're a wanna-be who, if called a Dummy, deflates. That's why I do it. Dummy.
Troy Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 @aka Contrarian would you take offense at being described as "Fiesty?"

Troy Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 Well you are feisty, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. Well, time is not guaranteed to anyone. I feel like I've observed a great deal of change in my life. You've seen much more than I have and have enough marbles left to not only bear witness to it, but to relate it through your cynical and satirical eye. 1
