Happy Belated Birthday Nichelle Nichols

 

I understand that we recognize a person's born day after they have died. 

 

However, I don't believe in wishing dead people a Happy Birthday.  It's not like they can enjoy it.😎

I don't have any positive memories of her.  I just remember she was on Star Trek.😎

I do...lol.

I remember as a child watching the episode where she and some other crew members left the ship and came back as barbarian versions of themselves and when I saw her body in that outfit I INSTANTLY fell in love.

 

 

 

 

 

She even looked great well up into old age.

I don't mean just "great for your age".....great.
I mean "take you somewhere and slobber you down".....great, lol.

No.
Although this episode aired during the early to mid stages of the Women's Movement, I believe they didn't go after them for 2 major reasons:

1. Nichel was a Black woman and since the Women's Movement was primarily led by White women, they didn't concern themselves much with the image of Black women

2. The Women's Movement's initial focus was women getting proper pay and not being abused and killed by their husband and fathers with impunity as was the case for centuries in Western society.
They weren't too focused on the sexual objectification of women.

If you watched Star Trek on the regular like I used to do, you'd notice that MOST of the women were dressed in skimpy sexy clothes and super short skirts.
 
It wasn't really until the mid-70s that the sexual objectification of women turned from being playful and liberating to being demonized by the Women's Movement.
I believe it happened when Lesbians started infiltrating the Women's struggle.

Many lesbians are jealous of straight feminine women because men and society in general naturally find them more attractive and pleasant and offer them more benefits and show them more attention. 
They figure taking the sexual factor away from women will "even" the playing field in the eyes of society.
