Cyclosporiasis Outbreak Affects Fruit & Veggies

What to know about cyclosporiasis, the intestinal illness...

A surge of cases of the intestinal illness that causes diarrhea and fatigue has been detected in 34 states. Here's how what to do if you suspect you have it and how to avoid infection.

Salads are under attack after people have gotten sick from eating lettuce, cilantro & other vegetables.

Some fruit like raspberries may be compromised too.

The crazy & nasty aspect of the cyclosporiasis parasite is that it comes from human feces.

People are either sh8tting on the crops &/or contaminating the water supply. Disgusting.

The easiest thing to do is avoid veggies & fruit until USDA or whoever gets their arms around the problem. Washing veggies & fruit & high heat (cooking) might help.

@Pioneer1 ...don't know your go to meals but Michigan supposedly has a high number of cases. If you or your family members, friends & associates have a fit of diarrhea...cyclosporiasis might be the culprit. 😁

Otherwise, to.everyone reading the forum consider this a public service announcement (PSA) to be careful with lettuce & salads.😎

I wonder if these folks wash their raw fruits and vegetables One thing I will do, no matter where I get my food from, is wash the produce. Case-in-Point, the family went to get some dishes from Chipotle. Mine a had a lot of lettuce, grape tomatoes, and some other produce.. Well, I spent about an hour separating the produce from the entree, washing the lettuces, and then pan frying the tomatoes. Fruits that don't have their own packaging (peels) definitely need to be rinsed, and a lot!

Thank you for the PSA, Brotha @ProfD

Harder to do especially when eating in a restaurant or buying fast food.😁

Places like Taco Bell are messed up right now.🤣

Thankfully, at least around these parts, Chipotle places the lettuce on the bowl last.

If needed, another option is to ask for the produce on the side. That makes it easier to sanitize as well.

Most welcome sista @Mel Hopkins . We have to remain vigilant on so many levels.

D8mn shame if they don't have a few Port-A-Pottys out in the farm fields.

That way, employees won't be dumping & adding their own fertilizer to the crops.🤣😎

It's funny that you mentioned Chipotle, because I haven't been there for years but since I'm on vacation now I've been TEARING UP some Chipotle for the past few days...lol.

I'm enjoying that spicy honey chicken they serve now...lol.

I'm not sure what's happening with the vegetables but I know those kids back there fixing the order aren't practicing the most sanitary habits.

I don't know how many times I've had to get at those skinny White girls with yoga pants on and phones jammed into the pubic hair, to NOT fix our food with the same gloves they just got through clearing all of the trash and smudge off the counter-top with!!!!

DON'T DO THAT.

Next thing they'll looking at me all juicy eyed and start getting apologetic.

Sorry young lady..didn't mean to raise my voice at you but DON'T DO THAT.......lol.

I'm not in Michigan right now but I guess whatever it is that has been going around has spread to different states.

As you've suggested, this mess usually comes from these farm laborers shitting out in the fields and not properly washing their hands.

This is yet another problem when you get too much mass migration and let so many illegal immigrant in here by the millions.

But then again, the government may have released something also.

Who knows?

Do you know who I really blame for this? Black America.

We've been here long enough that we should have our own doctors, hospitals and scientist on the case to INTERCEPT shit like this and prevent it from spreading or happening in the first place.
We are supposed to be the moral guidance of this nation, so what happens is what WE allow to happen through out indifference.

Right. D8mn shame having to remind them of that. I blame the managers for not doing a better job of enforcing food safety rules.

Black America does not own the farms & corporations that produce food in the USA.

If Black America had its own farms & grocery stores & restaurants, etc., we would have more control over the process.

Black America cannot snatch those money-making industries from white folks. 😎

The managers are often times the biggest culprits...lol.

They often times get so busy and frustrated trying to do several things at once that they say "fuck the rules" and do whatever needs to be done however they can do it....even if it's not safe.

But then again, if the MANAGER of the place is a 20 year old kid with tattoos all over his neck, chest, and up and down his arm and a ring in his nose....you really shouldn't expect the most sterile dining environment anyway, lol.

Black America does not own the farms & corporations that produce food in the USA.

We used to.

The Nation of Islam used to....and still does to a certain degree....have acres and acres of farm land where they not only grew their own food but had enough to sell and distribute to the rest of Black America.

One of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad's sons took over and sold many if not most of the businesses and even dismantled the military structure of the NOI and made sure these businesses were managed effectively.

If Black America had its own farms & grocery stores & restaurants, etc., we would

-sell them again?

Because we DID have our own farms, grocery stores, and restaurants.....in far larger numbers than we have today.
But after so-called Integration a lot of our people became lazy and decided to let White folks do for us what we should have been doing for ourselves.

Yep. Once I see the manager, I already have an idea of how the place is being run top to bottom; food safety to customer service. 😁

Right.

There are still Black farmers but nearly enough to sustain our population.

Nor do we have a chain of Black-owned grocery stores & a system of ancillary businesses feeding into it.

Integration pulled Black folks into white-owned businesses & workplaces to the detriment of maintaining our own institutions.

Becoming consumers more than producers is a tough situation to course correct.😎
