Paul alerted the Sixers in the morning; James made his decision just after midnight on July 24th.

At 41 years old, LeBron James (LBJ) has chosen to finish his hall of fame (HOF) basketbal career with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers already had a stacked team ready to compete for an NBA championship providing they stay healthy.

If the 76ers win a championship with LBJ onboard, it will be his 4th ring with a different team. That would be historic & another chip in his HOF career.

The buzz is already building around the 76ers well before LBJ shows up in the city of Brotherly Love.😎

I don't understand, why don't the brutha just RETIRE and enjoy his wealth?

It's not that easy for a world class athlete to walk away from the game they love to play.

LBJ believes he can still play the game at a high level. The supporting cast in Philly will definitely make it easier & fun.

LBJ has been rich for over 2 decades. At this point in his career &.considering the $8 million contract he signed to play with the 76ers, he's not playing for money. He's trying to get one more championship.

Lebron James has never stopped working out, jordan did, that is why jordan's time with the wizards was atrocious.

Lebron is playing a team sport, Tyson isn't. Boxing is a sport that is singular, thus, the individual variance has a greater effect on results, in team sports, an older player can play with younger ones to offset the ocllective ability

LEbron james never took a break, Serena did. Serena williams had ababy and relaxed and then came back, that break took her off the train of the kind of training needed to remain at the top level, and tennis in singles is like boxing.

What you seem to not realize is modern sport is so attached to media hype that older superstars make tons of money. In most sports today, the biggest stars in terms of attracting sponsors tend to be the oldest. Messi or cr7 in futebol/lebron/jackovic in tennis . many of these sports want the superstars to keep playing. and most of these athletes dont mind cause many of them have spent their whol elives as Bill russell said, being courted so they don't have anything else but playing sport.

It's not that easy for a world class athlete to walk away from the game they love to play.

I know, they do it for fun and because they love it.

I've known people in their 80s who do still work although they don't have to simply because they love the work.

If they stopped doing what they're doing, they'd be miserable.

@Pioneer1 the only way any athlete can quit while on top is to retire after winning the biggest trophy in their sport.

I trust lebron like most athletes knows their body, trust me, all athletes know what they can or can not do physically.

what point? that is up to the player and what they want. Lebron has the right to keep playing for ten more years and be a bench player for most of that if he wants. LEbron has the right to stop right now and not play one game for the sixers.

the good thing about team sports is it allows late 30s or 40s players to play and still have great success as the whole team is the key, not one player

The issue here is you feel players should stop at a point that satifies your view.

But my position is, players should stop whenever they want to. I know athletes who have played on top teams and gone to play in lower divisions or in various leagues around the world. Tiger woods is still playing, it is up to players. I don't care when they stop.

If they were playing as individuals for their own personal satisfaction.

These are PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES.......ENTERTAINERS.

They get paid millions of dollars for entertaining and inspiring their fans who want to see them in their glory and brilliance.
Not all washed up and broken down but out there grinning because they're "having fun" and love doing it.
