January 28, 201016 yr comment_171 Hello All, I just found out that J.D. Salinger, the author of Catcher in the Rye had died at 91, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100128/ap_en_ot/us_obit_. I read Catcher in the Rye for the first time a few years ago. It was one of the books that had been deemed a "classic" that lived up to the hype. Well, Mr. Salinger, you left a good one behind. Thanks. Report

But I am now planning to check it out. I was interested to read in Salinger's numerous obituaries that this book was the "bible" of Mark Chapman, the guy who killed, Beatle, John Lennon. lnnon Report
