That extra U.S. Senate seat for the Democrats

Featured Replies

Just how important was Raphael Warnock’s re-election victory?

Wheeeeeely Important.

It was the first time since 1934 that every Senate incumbent of the party of a sitting President won reelection. That is history making.

As I’ve said before, Biden’s careful handling of the country and its economy is far superior to anything Trump ever managed.

By adding to their one seat margin, Democrats no longer have to depend on Conservatives Joe Manchin (D-WVa) or Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) to pass bills or confirm judges.

Both have been notoriously unreliable since 2021 when Democrats needed them to pass Covid relief bills and they steadfastly refused to consider a new Voting Rights Bill.

Now, Dems can simply pass legislation without needing to kiss their butts or making huge concessions.

But the danger is not over. As ProfD noted, the narrow victory margin for Warnock points to an uncomfortable reality. Folks hate Black people and with so many turncoats among us out there, we can ever let our guard down. Hate is up against Latinos, Jews, Gays, the Indigenous and the Poor.

Every election is important. Every vote is important. We should never be content to think that others will do what we should be doing ourselves. Which is voting to promote, protect and advance our agenda.

Saying you’re not going to vote was never an option for Warnock supporters.

To not vote is no plan for the future. It’s Surrender.

Well the media is reporting that Miss Fashionista Sinema just left the Democrat party and registered as an Independent.
Something she should have done (or been MADE to do) long before now.

But let's see what the Democrats do with their majority.

Will they actually push a PROGRESSIVE agenda like building more affordable housing, give us Universal Healthcare, police reform, etc.....
Or will they push for more Gay Marriage and Gender/Neutral policies and make THAT their agenda.....while the poverty continues to grow exponentially.

Yep. It's about time Sen. Kyrsten Sinema came out of the closet. Claims she still plans to caucus with Democrats. We'll see.

Now, I'm waiting for Sen. Joe Manchin to do the same thing. He's usually riding with Sinema as a roadblock. I think they're Republicans in Democrat clothing.

Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Angus King are Independent but you'd never know it from how they roll. 😎
