Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Arlington R. Callies is the second oldest of five children, a husband, and father of two sons.

In 2013, Arlington wrote his first book entitled, Should My Child Play AAU Basketball?; Based on his twenty five years of experience as a AAU Basketball and Track coach. In so doing, it afforded him the opportunity to foster relationships with the kids in the community and teach them the value of education resulting in scholarship opportunities.

To pay tribute to his deceased father and great civil rights icon, Rev. Raymond Aaron Callies, Sr., Arlington dedicated over the span of a year to research, chronicle, interview and write, The Man Behind The March, The Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. R. A. Callies, Sr. He continues to sow into the San Antonio community through his participation in the annual MLK March and volunteers his time with the MLK Commission, as needed. In addition, Arlington continues to serve in the church and is a member of Covenant Community Church.

Arlington taught Math and Science at the elementary and secondary level upon receiving his Associate Science degree from San Antonio College and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He worked as a Casualty Claim Adjuster at USAA Insurance Company for over 23 years. Currently, Arlington is a Real Estate Broker and owner of New Home Realty, LLC.
