Bishop Carlton Pearson (March 19, 1953 – November 19, 2023) was a minister, gospel singer, and author. He was once a prominent figure in the Pentecostal and charismatic Christian movements. Pearson was the pastor of Higher Dimensions Evangelistic Center, a megachurch in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He gained significant attention and controversy in the late 1990s and early 2000s when he began to question traditional Christian doctrines, particularly the concept of hell and the exclusivity of salvation through Jesus Christ. Pearson started preaching a message of “inclusion theology,” suggesting that a loving God would not condemn people to eternal damnation and that all people, regardless of their faith or beliefs, would ultimately be saved through Jesus.

His theological shift led to significant backlash from fellow Christian leaders and churches, resulting in him being declared a heretic by many in the evangelical community and being ousted from various Christian organizations and networks.

Despite the controversy and personal hardships, Carlton Pearson’s story is important because it highlights the tension between traditional religious beliefs and evolving interpretations of scripture. His journey also sheds light on the challenges faced by those who challenge orthodoxy within religious communities. Pearson’s experiences have sparked discussions about the nature of God, salvation, and the role of religion in contemporary society.
