Cheryl L. Neely is a sociology professor at Oakland Community College in Michigan, where she teaches sociology and criminology. She authored You’re Dead—So What?: Media, Police, and the Invisibility of Black Women as Victims of Homicide, winner of the 2016 Gold Medal Midwest Book Award.
