Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman, Ed.D., holds the position of Executive Director at the Hurston Wright Foundation, following her role as Director of Education and Community Engagement at Montgomery Community Media (MCM). MCM, a nonprofit entity, grants access to local news and media training to residents, nonprofits, and businesses in Montgomery County, MD.

As a playwright, her creative works have graced stages at prestigious venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Theater Alliance, and Baltimore Theater Project. Ali-Coleman is the author behind the children's narrative Mariah's Maracas and has played a pivotal role as co-editor in the anticipated Homeschooling Black Children in the US: Theory, Practice and Popular Culture, scheduled for release by IAP in 2022. Her contributions span a variety of print and digital mediums, with notable inclusions in The Fire Inside: Collected Stories and Poems from Zora’s Den (2020) and the scholarly examination Afro-Futurism in Black Panther: Gender, Identity and the Remaking of Blackness (2021).

In 2020, she embraced the role of Scholar-in-Residence at the Prince George’s County African American Museum and Cultural Center (PGAAMCC), where she also contributed as a teaching artist. Her tenure at PGAAMCC was marked by the curatorial presentation of Flying Towards Freedom, an exhibit exploring her family heritage alongside the histories of four other families. Ali-Coleman is the visionary founder of Liberated Muse, a multidisciplinary arts collective, and co-founder of the educational research consortium, Black Family Homeschool Educators and Scholars (BFHES).

Her academic accolades include a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on African American Studies and Mass Media, with a Writing minor, from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She furthered her education with a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from Towson University and achieved a Doctorate in Education from Morgan State University.
