Luvon Roberson is a multi-talented writer who focuses on a variety of literary genres. She reports on the literary world, and also writes poetry, flash fiction, and ethnographic fiction. Her work has received recognition; for instance, her prose piece “Sweet Yam Weather” won Prize in Prose and her poem “Black Girl June Memories Done Been Changed” received an Honorable Mention. Both works were published by Equinox in 2021.

Her flash fiction “Memories of Two Kitchens” was featured in Common Unity: An Anthology, published by NYWC Press in 2023. Additionally, her poem “TITR: A Poem in Tribute to Jacqueline Woodson,” found a place in Killens Review of Arts & Letters in the Fall/Winter edition of 2002-2023.

In addition to her individual achievements, Luvon is deeply involved in community building among writers. She founded the Riverside Writing Group in 2021 to foster a community of social justice writers and is also a founding member of the Thursday Morning Poets. Her current work-in-progress, Mississippi Sanctifyin, is a multi-genre collection that delves into her family’s history of sharecropping and her childhood experiences in Corona-East Elmhurst, Queens, New York City.
