O.W. Showe

Producer O.W. Showe is a former professional basketball player, retired US Air Force Flight Nurse and recipient of numerous hall of fame accolades for athletic and professional excellence: University of Cincinnati James P. Kelly Athletic Hall of Fame (2016), Lima City Schools Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame (2017).

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a Communication degree, O.W. was selected by the Detroit Shock in the second round (No. 28 Overall) of the 2000 WNBA Draft. During her tenure with the team, Showe captured the league’s second highest player efficiency ranking for the season. She also competed overseas in France, Switzerland and Israel while launching the first inner-city youth basketball camp in her hometown Lima, Ohio.

Showe joined the United States Army following the September 11th terrorist attacks and served as an enlisted Trauma Medic at the Womack Army Medical Center Emergency Department. Prior to accepting a commission with the United States Air Force, O.W. earned an associate degree and practiced as a board certified (medical-surgical) Registered Nurse for several years within the civilian sector. After earning a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science from Winston-Salem State University in 2010 (summa cum laude), she completed graduate studies at Liberty University in 2016 (magna cum laude) as a Nurse Educator.

O.W.’s blossoming career in the United States Air Force was cut short in 2018 following her promotion to the fieldgrade officer ranks as a Major. Showe’s career appointment summarization includes APU/PACU/CASF/Emergency Department Clinical Nurse, Medical Group and Squadron Executive Officer, POTUS Flight Medicine Clinic Flight Commander and Flight Nurse (Aeromedical Evacuation).

Often referred to as the inventor of modern day immersive writing, she enjoys sharing comedic banter with her husband Pocco and early morning walks on cartoon beaches.
