Dr. V.S. Chochezi is a writer, poet, artist, photojournalist, certified Myers Briggs practitioner, and college professor. She is the daughter member of Straight Out Scribes (Staajabu is the mother member), a renowned mother/daughter spoken word duo who have self-published seven books of poetry, one Sci-fi Anthology and two CD compilations. They have produced and coordinated a number of writing, poetry and art related programs and workshops in Sacramento since 1991. They have lent their voices to such causes as the Campaign to Save the Life of Mumia Abu-Jamal, freedom for the MOVE 9, Leonard Peltier, and other political prisoners. They have supported environmental causes, LGBTQIA+ rights, have performed for Black Family Day, Women Take Back the Night, Labor Unions, the Sacramento Thousand Man March, the Whole Earth Festival, numerous colleges and are members of ZICA Creative Arts and Literary Guild of Sacramento.
