Sporty King was born and raised in Harlem, New York City. During his freshman year in high school, he won an academic scholarship to attend his final three years at a private school in Massachusetts, where he began writing poetry. After high school he went to college, yet lasted only three semesters there. A month after returning home he began working as a messenger at The Wall Street Journal. Sporty worked at The Journal for 18 years, rising through seven promotions, from messenger to his final position as regional advertising sales manager. He believes it was his gift of writing poetry while sharing positive words and thoughts that helped lead to his success in Corporate America, and now as he runs his motivational speaking business. This book is a “story” in poetry about the many people he has been able to bless and thank along the way.
