Black History: An Inclusive Account of American History, is co-authored by former school superintendent Dr, Walter Milton, Jr. and former NBA Washington Wizards Chaplain, Dr. Joel Freeman. The Black History 365 curriculum is much different from other curricula on the market because it not only provides students the core subject matter, but also it teaches them how to handle the tough issues associated with race by understanding and utilizing skills to demonstrate cultural competency and humility (the ability to understand someone else’s experience without bias). As the nation grapples with current tensions around systemic racism, this curriculum seeks to be a solution in our public school system.

Black History: An Inclusive Account of American History is a multi-media, tech savvy comprehensive account of African American history designed to fill in the gaps left in many history textbooks. Former Ambassador Andrew Young, Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump and Media Mogul Cathy Hughes are among the thirteen advisory board members for the curriculum set to be in classrooms beginning fall 2020. The curriculum not only provides accounts of African American history from ancient Africa through modern times, but it also prepares teachers of all ethnicities to present racially, sensitive subject matter to a diverse student population and create an environment where students can discuss issues of race and systemic discrimination.

An original musical score produced by Grammy Award-Winning, Multi-Platinum Educator, Producer and Artist, Dr. Kevin “Khao” Cates, along with insightful community-based projects, challenge students to become critical thinkers; compassionate listeners; fact-based, respectful communicators; and action-oriented solutionists.
