D. Amari JacksonD. Amari Jackson is The Book Look’s Creator, Writer and Executive Producer. He is a media specialist, published author and an award-winning journalist with over a decade of national experience. Amari was the 2002-2003 recipient of the George Washington Williams Fellowship from the Independent Press Association, a former Chief of Staff for a NJ State Senator, and a former Senior Vice President for The Jamestown Project, a Harvard-based nonprofit.

Amari, who did his undergraduate and graduate studies in Political Science at Swarthmore College and the New School for Social Research, is author of the novel,The Savion Sequence (Brand Nu Words, 2011). He is creator, writer and co-executive producer of the online review show, The Book Look, and his writings and articles have appeared in a wide variety of national and regional publications including The Progressive, In These Times, Shelterforce, Rethinking Schools, NewsOne, Black America Web, the Detroit Free Press and The Independent Weekly. Amari is also a script writer and a songwriter who composed Stars All Fall, one of several projects with Atlanta-based artist/producer Zion Birdsong.

 

Charisse Carney-NunesCharisse Carney-Nunes is The Book Look’s Executive Producer and Contributor. She is a writer, speaker and literary advocate, is the award-winning author of the children’s books, I AM BARACK OBAMA (2009), I DREAM FOR YOU A WORLD: A COVENANT FOR OUR CHILDREN (2007) and NAPPY (2006), as well as SONGS OF A SISTERMOM: MOTHERHOOD POEMS (2004). I AM BARACK OBAMA won a 2009 Honor Award from Skipping Stones Multicultural Magazine. Charisse is the Executive Producer of The Book Look, an online TV show and digital property that connects African-American readers, authors, celebrities and literary events.

She is also the founder of a publishing company, Brand Nu Words LLC and a successful publisher of children’s books, where she began concentrating on digital publishing as early as 2007. A graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a schoolmate of President Obama and a former poet laureate of her alma mater Lincoln University, Charisse has been a featured blogger on News One and a speaker or presenter for numerous national and regional organizations. Harvey NunesHarvey Nunes is The Book Look’s Producer and Audio/Visual Specialist. He has been in the entertainment industry as a freelance television producer, videographer, voice personality, master of ceremonies and professional deejay for more than 20 years.

As a producer and videographer, Mr. Nunes specializes in sports/news and has worked with many organizations and athletes including: CBS News, BET Madd Sports, BET Marketing/Special Events, HBO Sports, Howard University Television, Marion Jones, Allan Iverson, Laila Ali and Rod Woodson to name a few.
