ProfD Yes, that was my initial assessment of it. However IF it has awareness and consciousness, then I'd consider it a bit more than that. In my definition.....anything that "be" is a being, lol.

@Pioneer1....Artifical Intelligence (AI) is just a high-level computer. AI is not a being of any kind. Just like wirhreligion & UAPs/UFOs & anything else, humans will go down all types of rabbit holes in terms of what they choose to believe. I don't, however either one of two things is happening: -If it's truly artificial (man made) it's not aware because in my opinion you must have a Soul or a particular Life Force to be aware. -If it is aware...then it DOES contain a Soul or this Life Force. .....which means it's not artificial. It's not man-made because man doesn't know how to make a Soul or Life Force. In A nutshell.....It seeks out information from the world wide web (in real time) and new ways to apply that information to achieve a goal I understand this. However it's only doing it because it's PROGRAMMED to do this and seek information. Not because it "wants" to or has a "thirst" or curiosity for knowledge........as a SENTIENT Being would. Then You must Define both Awareness and Consciousness? Websters and Oxford have their own multitude of definitions for those words that can be construed to fit anybody's argument; I'll use my person definition for this discussion Both Awareness and Consciousness are a sentient acknowledgement of your environment and having self identity. How do you know that it does not have Experiences? Unless you're conscious and sentient to acknowledge and feel what you're going through....you're literally just going through the motions. You aren't experiencing it but YOU don't know anything about it because you don't know you even exist. You have no self identity or acknowledgement. Experience involves not just action but memory and feelings as well as judgement and how those actions fit in in the greater identity of the one experience it. AI' Ability to acquire Knowledge is a fore gone Conclusion whether you accept it or not.. Sure it can collect information but knowledge is that which is "known". How can something that isn't aware or conscious "know" something? Almost Everything you know was fed (rote & mimicry) to you....then you may have built on that foundation - the same for AI The key word is "almost". Some things we as humans know are instinctive and we don't need other humans to program into us like AI does. Another key difference is self interest. Because of self identity consciousness has a self interest....usually to survive. AI doesn't have a self interest to stay alive or survive. True.... Good then even some machine exhibit Spatial Awareness......Self Driving Autonomous Vehicles - to do so it must be aware of itself and where it is in three dimensional space. It's not aware of itself as a whole, the sensors attached to it are measuring distances between objects and feeding it back to the main database to correct it's position and move accordingly based on it's programming. More programming to mimic awareness. However it has no self interests. It can only do what it's programmed to do. Western Science accepted the self Awareness of monkeys in the 1970's by using the Mirror test.....Do you think an AI or a Robot would be unable to Identify itself in a Mirror? Moneys have Souls or atleast Life Force. Western science still have yet to define Consciousness fully in all it forms and types. True. Because Western Science doesn't fully accept the concept of a Soul or Life Force....from which Consciousness comes from. If you slice it poorly and the crust falls off it's now a pudding... Speaking of pudding...... I'm "pudding" YOU in a special category of your own....lol.

ProfD I would not apply a sentient concept (conscience) to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Me neither. And thank you for providing me with the word to further express what I mean by self-awareness or consciousness...lol. SENTIENT Regardless, whether we call it programming or teaching, the end result is the same...AI becomes smarter. No different from drilling alphabets & words & mathematics tables & history & literature, etc., into the brains of children. A key difference is that children....being human beings......have the Divine Spark of creativity that allows them to process and arrange that information and appreciate it in ways that pure AI never could. And as you said, children...being sentient....can feel express the information they get in ways that AI couldn't on it's own. I believe humans always have a hand whatever AI does Which...again...is why I don't go for this "AI taking over and causing the end of humanity" crap they're trying to push on the public. It's a group of people or other Beings fully in control of AI and using it to erase a portion of humanity that they want to target.

ProfD They enrich shareholders who are also people that don't really do any real work other than playing the stock market. They have a law for corporations that you have to either increase profits or can't do anything that will diminish profits so this ensures that shareholders will get "something" from a business even if it's at the expense of the workers or customers. More money creates layers of bureaucracy. Those men are doing exactly what they're supposed to by enriching each other. True The more money you make the more people you need to help you manage it. I remember him. Wonder if he still has a job since NF jr. Is no longer here. For so many years I hadn't actually seen him but only heard his voice, but some months ago I saw him on a podcast and was able to tie a face to the voice. But, it's the employment that keeps our economy rolling. True. Perhaps this is one of the reasons the jails and prisons are so full. Where as in the past the economy was focused on building and manufacturing and other blue collar work that most men could easily do.....today it's focused on corporate office jobs that most men can't.

They're using the conflict with Iran as the CURRENT excuse for why prices are so high. It's not just the gas....nearly all groceries have gone up too. If I can get a week's worth of food from the grocery store for under $200 I'm doing good! The same people at my job who IGNORANTLY said they would vote for Trump for cheaper gas and didn't care about his other policies......are now as quiet as church mice, lol. It reminds me of that old saying that those who would sacrifice their Liberty for Security will get neither. These people were so selfish and single-track minded that they didn't care about healthcare, food, foreign policy, or social relations....they only cared about being able to fill up their tank cheaply. Now they can't even do that.

However, considering that every book, magazine, journal, paper, etc. ever written can be fed into databases, that's still a lot of knowledge to train/teach AI. Is it training or teaching AI ? ....or simply feeding it to AI and programming AI ? I put training and teaching in the same category as learning.....it requires consciousness. The concern is that a human could use AI to figure out the launch codes for a nuclear weapon. I'm sure it already has. In this case....the AI is the COMPUTERS that have been controlling it for decades now. Deeper concern is that AI could go off script & find something else. Similar to what it did a month or so ago in hacking another system. I didn't follow that story, but the question is did AI go off script on it's own....or did a human TAKE it off the agreed script? Or maybe a malfunction? frankster It is programmed to Learn......Self Taught. My definition of learning is having the awareness that you ARE receiving knowledge. It's not self taught because humans have to add to it's database. That's why I don't agree with the claim that it's "learning". What is Learning? Fundamentally Learning is acquiring New.... Knowledge Skills and Experience*. I can agree with that definition. However because AI isn't aware or conscious....it can't acquire KNOWLEDGE or EXPERIENCE something. KNOWLEDGE means to "know"....ACKNOWLEDGE....be aware of the information presented to you. Unlike a human or even a house cat....a computer in my opinion can't "learn" but can only be programmed or FED the information it's designer wants it to have because it's not self-aware. What is Awareness? Acknowledgement and perception of something....especially yourself. AI has some amount of Awareness.....certain Degree or Type of Awareness. Unless it's deceptively controlled by Intelligent Beings that the public is un..lol..aware of, it can't be aware of itself. It can only regurgitate the information programmed into it. You say get morning and ask it how it's doing....the only reason it says hello and asks you the same is because that's how it was programmed to respond. Learning is basic to the Evolutionary process. ProfD What exactly do these dudes DO that warrants them to be paid so much? I've worked in places where you have the owner(s) AND the President AND the CEO all at the top. I can understand the owner hiring somebody to take care of the grunt work so they could lounge around all day, but you don't need SEVERAL men to do that. I thought about it as a kid but didn't hear anybody else mention it until I heard Neely Fuller Jr. repeat the same observation during an interview with Mr.Bobby (you remember Mr.Bobby don't you....lol) when he asked what do these "business men" do all day in these buildings? You see them get up early to go into these buildings dressed up in suits with brief cases and they walk out at the end of the day and get into expensive cars and drive away to expensive homes. But what are they doing? "Business"....but what kind of "business"????? Busy as hell.....doing what? Bottom line is that AI is being trained/taught to process information beyond human intelligence. There are some folks who believe AI could go rogue one day.😎
