Jews were able to walk away from the Civil Rights movement without any lasting effects from the exercise. No group is perfect nor is perfection required to do business. Strategic alliances should be built on shared interests & for mutual benefit to all parties involved. Forgive me, I should have said I'm an OLD white man, whose lived through a lot, seen a lot of unfairness in our country, still believe it's the best country, but frankly scared. Trump and his followers are bringing back the racial unfairness, worship of the wealthy class, antagonism for anyone who's different, etc., with a vengeance. What bothers me the most about what's happening in our country is that most people (I say white people because that's what I know best) are silent, standing by while the country goes to hell or disappears completely. Events, statements etc. are accepted as "normal" now that would have been totally rejected as obscene or racist or insurrectionalist 10 years ago. That's one of the reasons I joined AALBC, to find out what AA think, say, and do in our troubled times. I'm sad to say I have no close AA friends. And honestly, I'm trying to promote my new novel, The Short Happy Life of Wyatt Outlaw among AA readers. So far, almost almost all my readers are white, and they tell me they cry at the inhumanity of slavery and the tragic story about a heroic Black man who was murdered because he was "uppity." So someone here mentioned "the same Black women who could care less about exchanging opinions and conversing with Black men on ANY topic will often JUMP at the opportunity to exchange opinions and engage in stimulating conversation with the first "intelligent" White man open to do it with them." White, yes. Intelligent, remains to be seen. Danny Simmons, was a Brooklyn based novelist, poet, and artist. I think he is the eldest of the more famous Simmons brother the Rap mogul Russell Simmns and the Hall of Fame Rap Artist Joseph (Rev Run). I would not be surprised if @Delano has seen or knew Danny. You really could not be in the Brooklyn arts scence and not have crossed oaths with him. I did not know him personally, but I've seen him around several times I believe I been to him home one for a fund raiser. One of the hardest things about getting older is losing people. An elderly friend once said it really starts to pick up once you hit your sixties.
This photo hangs in my home. It was taken in my old neighborhood, a version of Harlem I would never really know. At the turn of the century, I lived in a Brownstone like the one pictured, just 7 blocks south. I often wondered what happened to the little boys in the shot. It is a sign of the times to see so many of the musicians posed for a picture holding cigarettes. I saw Dizzy perform once seeing him poking his tongue out does not surprise me 🙂 Taken today there would be more women in the shot. RIP Mr. Rollins.

Art started from the earliest humans, when we walked everywhere to gather food, even before hunting and gathering, we did art just gathering and moving. No permanent caves. For me, it is the variance between creativity side commercialism. The creative world, creative aspect of art, is never lessened or weakened no matter the tools, as you say in more elegant prose. But, the financials, the commercial aspect of art do change. The commercial isn't about art, but what people value enough to provide goods /services/money for. What people value changes. Easy question. Very few people become rich or wealthy without white influence because they control power & money. Anybody can claim to be religious or spiritual or both. Their actions do not lie.
