  1. Own it Niecy! If you like it, I love it! If you love it, I'm for it - own it and keep it movin! It won't be until I have room to judge that I will judge. In the meantime, live yo life...I see you!
  2. Houston, the only problem I see is that we keep letting people get in our head. I bet none of us can even count the number of inventions, millionaires, discoveries, break-throughs, successes, this-because-of-that accomplishments, heroes, champions, etc.... in which we've contributed, spear-headed, and brought to life so we've got the skills, knowledge, money, intellect, soul, dedication, work ethic, means.... In other words, we have ALL of the ingredients to do what ever it is we want - we just have to <TRUST >each other and stop letting them continue to seep into our head. Yes, we've been stripped, whipped, killed, degraded, brainwashed, branded, labeled and all of the other oppressive verbs you can think of, but still we stand. I want to spend my money in Little Africa, Chocolate City, an area of our own. Hey, I trust, I believe, I know, I support and I follow as often as I can. Admittedly, I've fallen for the okey-doke more times than I'd like to admit, but you do better when you know better and you stand in your commitment - so let's stop giving everyone else all of the attention cause we don't have to. In other words.... How do you know if and when we've achieved success as a community? *We know that we've succeeded as a community when we stay the course and stop letting people get in our heads, when we TRUST and when we take action in spite of. It will be a hill to climb, but we've been there, done that. History proves it. And by the way, let's not forget that there are already lots of success stories out there! I'm very proud of the blood, sweat, tears, dedication, commitment, focus and drive that has made them the success that they are!! I will continue to support however and whenever I can! SO PROUD OF YOU!! Baby steps yield big accomplishments, commitment yields attention, support yields trust and perseverance, in spite of, yields success. I look forward to buying from and strolling through Little Africa, Chocolate City, G.A.P, The town that Blacks made. YES WE CAN!
  3. Oh, brutha's, I dare you to read my book, "Are Black Women ALWAYS so Angry? Hmmm; Truth, Excuse or Something else". I know that you understand me, but sometimes you forget. Sometimes we, sista's, forget too. Let's stop falling into the "Conveniently Black" (@Ajjones1007) trap (my interpretation is that we fall prey to stereotypes that keep us down in order to fulfill the needs of others). Black, night, Black sky, Black room & The Angry Black Woman My skin - dark as the night - until the lights reveal my hue. My face - beautiful as the night sky, present in every episode of life. My heart - mysterious as a dark room until you open your heart and let me in. Like the black night, black sky and black room, if you don't open your mind and acknowledge that I'm not ALWAYS so angry, and if you don't open your hearts and accept me for the beautiful mess that I am, you will continue to miss out on the essence of me and what we can do together. Dark as the night, beautiful as the sky and mysterious as a dark room - not ALWAYS and Angry Black Woman. Link to: Are Black Women ALWAYS so Angry: https://www.am*zon.com/dp/1520984774 p.s. It would be reflective for my sista's to read too.
  4. I haven't read most of the responses because I'm stuck on the title of this topic, "Conveniently Black". This country thrives off the "convenient" oppressive tactics that "they" use to stay in control and to get what they want. AND they know that the BEST way to get the results that they want begins and ends with us. The moral of the story, We are all Black Wallstreet-savvy & the strength of the Motherland is in our soul! Clearly, we are the chosen one. "Conveniently Black" - yes, we continue to set the stage of evolution and this country continues to reap the benefits our our "Conveniently Black" skin. They say that FEAR causes one to stay on the 'right side of caution', so instead of "them" embracing our power, they "conveniently" make laws to oppress and suppress. It's not us, it's them! Please don't get me wrong. I don't hate - I hurt. I hurt because I know, I see, I hear, but with that, I know, I see, I hear and that keeps me smiling with my head up - proud for being "Conveniently Black". That stone of hope, to me, is more like a crater of Yes We Did, Yes We Can, Yes We Will! My "Conveniently Black" skin IS MY POWER! SAY IT LOUD.....I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!!!!!!!!! Ya betta recognize baby!
  5. Yes, @Pioneer1 this, too, may fit under Poetree, but with all the discussions about my people and about me, I felt that this is also fitting in this forum as I express my obsession with black people. I agree that you love who you love. I LOVE black and I LOVE my Black Girl Magic, and I REFUSE to let stereo-types and misrepresentations about me and my people brought upon by the, " How to Make a Slave" brainwashing tactics, that were forced upon my ancestors, keep me in a place of acceptance that is not of my own free-thinking and knowing better. This is for you, Black Beauty. Dear Black Beauty, My love for you runs to the ends of the earth because I understand your heart. I understand how deeply you love; how committed you are to family; that when you do get angry, I know that it comes from feelings that you hold inside to keep the peace. But, girlfriend, when you smile, the whole world dances. You have that spirit that gives you the courage to withstand all obstacles. That spirit that measures your woman-hood, and defies defeat - that spirit in which your mother’s breasts nourished you for what’s to come, shines through. I watch in awe of at your bravery, and I fall in love with you over and over again. My sista, the next time you look in the mirror, stand tall, stand proud, stand beautiful. Proudly show those curvy hips, those beautiful lips, that amazing kinky hair, that brown skin. Then, look to the right and smile even bigger, maybe even wink, then walk on by, gracefully. p.s. Never change.
  6. With love to my Chocolate Brutha's. In tears because I hurt for you, AND will NEVER give up on you. We suffer, we win, we fight, we forgive, we love, we survive...TOGETHER! Dear Chocolate Brotha, I love you so much because I can see it in your beautiful eyes – Your determination, your fight, your struggle, your perseverance. You have that spirit that gives you the courage to withstand all obstacles. That spirit that measures your man-hood, that defies defeat - that spirit in which your mother’s breasts nourished you for what’s to come, makes me fall in love with you over and over, again. Your eyes tell about the passion you have for family. I see the pain in your eyes, frustrated that you have to work twice as hard to get a nod - having to pat your own self on the back when you know that recognition is due. My heart bursts at the thought of your strength. I admire your endurance, humility and humble spirit. I fall in love with you over and over again, my Chocolate Brotha. Don't ever change.

  8. I am soooo in love with black people! Your presence, your beauty, your strength, your persistence, your forgiving heart, your pain, your my hero and I fall in love with you over and over again. As a self-published author, I started writing my fourth book. This book contains letters expressing my experiences. After writing my 12th letter, I began to ask myself: 'How can I share these letters on a broader scale - I came up with Wall Hangers and thought of you. I'd like to share an example of one Wall Hanger dedicated to our Black Beauties. Others can be viewed on my website: https://www.DeeMillerInspired.com Dear Black Beauty, My love for you runs to the ends of the earth because I understand your heart. 9. ROFL...There are so many colloquialism out there that communication, comprehension and intent have become blurred. Although some are just plain funny, and have a defined meaning, ie. ‘I laughed my butt off’, others can send a mixed message, ie. ‘Love ya’. Why do we laugh our ‘butts off’? What the ‘H’ does that mean? And what does, Love ya, mean? Is it another way of saying, ‘see ya’, ‘ I love you’, ‘boy you crazy’, ‘Bye Felicia’? How about when I’m called ‘Ma or Mommie’ I have to admit, It’s fresh when the bruthas ask, ‘How you doin Ma/mommie’ But am I misinterpreting the context? Do I look old enough to be your mother, are you flirting? Am I being punked? Lets have some fun. What colloquialisms do you hear/say and please, tell me...what the ‘H...’ does that mean...LOL! Share on my blog. DeeMillerInspired.blogspot.com
  10. Reflection - serious thought or consideration of actions past or present. The count down to a new year offers a time/an excuse/ an opportunity to reflect on resolutions past, and you will either celebrate your accomplishment(s) or recognize the interception. Either way, its the journey ahead that awaits. Refection(not misspelled) - a refreshment of mind, body and/or spirit. What will you resolve in 2018? Then, Own it - Do it! Feel free to share your journey via my blog http://deemillerinspired.blogspot.com/?m=1 I have no regrets about resolutions intercepted. My truf for partially/not achieving my resolution is simply this - I'm a work in progress. As for 2018 - I resolve to make myself a hobby.
  11. Whitney Houston Was known for saying, "Can I be me?" That statement made me think about an article I wrote in my book, "Are Black Women Always so Angry? Hmmmm" that goes like this: 'My Skin - dark as the night until the light reveals my hue. My Face - beautiful as the night sky, present in every episode of life. My Heart - mysterious as a dark room until you open your heart and let me in. Do you wear a mask for self-preservation? Can you be you? I invite you to start a conversation about it on my blog, DeeMillerInspired.blogspot.com. My self published books can be purchased on my website: DeeMillerInspired.com or on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/dp/1520984774

  13. I've always felt that my purpose in life is to inspire people through my words and my art. That I've finally gotten over my fear of failure, and created a website and a blog, is freaking amazing! On my website: DeeMillerInspired.com, I included a blog called, ''Can we Talk' where I share clips from my Self Published Books and invite open dialog. As a wordsmith, my topics have no set direction or focus, but rather develope from experiences, observations and creative thinking. A little Storytelling, opinion sharing, then if tempers rise, we agree to hug it out then LOL. My latest blog called, 'Are Black Women Always so angry? Hmmmm...Truth, Excuse or Something Else. I'm eager to capture the opinions on the subject that many have become so obsessed about. Why does my kinky hair, my luscious lips, my voluptuous ass, my beautiful shades of brown skin, my intelligence, my patience, my strength, my commitment and my blood sweat and tears lead you to believe that I'm always so angry? Cause when we smile, the whole world dances. Lets ta talk about it - DeeMillerInspired.com
  14. When you sit back and recall the funny things that come out of a child's mouth, you cant help but laugh. The innocence is priceless. Then, the conversations that take place as adults when they reflect about the past and share how they interpreted words, conversations and phrases... Let's not even mention the 'secret' conversations that take place between adults & funny situations you've gotten yourself into. OMG, LOL...You cant make this stuff UP!! Warning: This book promise to make you LOL, so make sure you're not in a situation that requires you to be serious. Here's a glimpse. The Interview: So, my daughter, Dani goes on a second interview(she's only 16 with no prior work experience).... Here are a few of the questions and Dani's response. 1) Tell me about a weakness you have. Answer: Weeelll, my eyes are kind of weak. It's a little hard to see the board in school when I don't wear my glasses. My mom should be taking me to the eye doctor soon. 2) Tell me, how do you prioritize your day. Answer: Weelll, today, I had orchestra first period, then English, then World Science... Then, all of a sudden Dani stops because she's distracted by the manger's facial expression, Dani's second response: That's not the right answer is it since my schedule was set at the beginning of the year by my counselor. I guess I would say that I do whats going to move me forward in life and not back. 3) Why do you want to work here. Answer: Because I love the number 5! I ALWAYS order a large with a lemonade. And I love your BBQ sauce!!! LOLOLOLOL! Other stories include: Am I being punked; The puddle in my hand; OK, Really; So is Brown the new Black?; Assigned seat 19A; Pregnancy Exceptions; My She-ro, and more. This book (1 of 3 Self published books) & art can be purchased via my website: DeeMillerInspired.com or via Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LDGL1WA
  15. They say I don't look like an artist - what the hell does that mean? Are my nails too long? Are my hands to clean? Is it in my strike? Is it in my walk? Is it what I say? Is it the way I talk? Is it because I'm from the projects of upstate New York? So I had a few fights; Kicked a few asses...does that mean I don't look like an artist? Hey, I graduated with honors; got my degree. Is that what it takes for you to accept me? Oh, and I was a small time thief - vandalized my coaches care - but, I was also a hell of a... hell of a TrackStar. A Big Sister, computer programmer - I'm on top of my game! Still don't look like an artist? Well that's a damn shame. Don't know what an artist looks like, but get used to this face... and ya better learn to love me cause I aint going to place. I love you.
