Cubans Protesting Shortages

Another island nation having issues.

 

Cubans are dealing with food shortages and power outages and inflation. The leadership is worried about protests. 

 

There is no reason for food shortages anywhere on this planet.  Nobody should ever go hungry or be homeless either. 

 

The most developed countries throw away almost as much food as they consume. Farmers can provide plenty if they're not being paid to stop producing  

 

My position is not steeped in socialism. I'm of the belief that human beings should do a better job of taking care of each other. 

 

Eliminate greed and corruption and immediately end most societal problems.

I knew Cuba was no Paradise, however I'm a little surprised to hear about Cubans being hungry.

I thought they had their act together over there, especially under Castro.

Castro ruled Cuba with an iron hand. Didn't bow down to the US. He chose to roll with Russia and whatever that arrangement entailed.

 

As a result, Cuba has depended on foreign aid and been behind technologically for a very long time. 

 

Then, it goes back to the greed and corruption which creates a condition of haves and have nots among the people. That leads to problems too.

White Russia will NOT take sides against their own White brothers in the West just to side with Brown Cubans or even Yellow Chinese and Koreans and Vietnamese.
So Russia slowly stopped supporting Cuba and allowed it to drift into isolation.

Cuba may be behind technologically but their Spirit is still strong.
They have a history of sending soldiers as well as medicine and medical aid to African nations so they have a lot of Karmic Credit built up.

No doubt. Cuba did a solid in helping African nations.

 

Problem is like two dope fiends walking down the street trying to get something, they can only help each other up to a point.

Well Castro and much of his family were pretty much White.

They may have gotten along well with the Black and Mulatto people of Cuba and around the planet, but there's something "Jim Jonesish" about a White man who has to lead and direct Black folks around and keep them organized and industrious.

No shade of Castro though....he did many great works.

 

Cuba is pretty much a Black and Mulatto nation with a White minority.
Black folks should be ruling it....but.

South Africa and many island nations are either led by white folks or minority white folks control the riches.

To avoid imperialism, Castro probably meant well all things considered. His shortcoming was a failure to grow his island nation.
 

I think he did the best he could given the cards he was dealt.

He was leading a nation of....as I said before...mostly Black and Mulatto people.
So as a well educated White man who came from a prosperous family, he knew the White world wasn't going to allow them but to get so far.
 

Also, he was pushing a Communist program in the middle of a Capitalistic and Christian  Western Hemisphere.
His only friends and allies were thousands of miles away and weren't true friends at that (Russia).

Cuba probably could have developed more technology if they were left alone.
But with the embargo and constant harassment, it was enough to survive.

Well, some may agree.

Because on the scale of civility....Barbarism is a STEP UP from Savagery...lol.
A lot of our people are in such savage condition that barbaric would be an improvement.

If there was anything the people really needed, the smart folks would have figured out how to make it happen.

 

Most people are content as long as their basic needs are met. high-speed internet isn't a priority.

Now a days, the internet IS considered a basic necessity.
Governments and most individuals (except for survivalists) can't function in society without it.

I was half-joking.

 

Of course, we believe high speed internet is essential because we've gotten accustomed to it.

 

However, there are billions of people living in the world untethered to the grid.

 

The reality of essential becomes more evident as we get older.

I guess when we say "necessary" we have to qualify it with a description of  "necessay for what".



If you want to talk about what is absolutely necessary for survival as humans, then you're talking:
Food
Water


Want to extend your life a little further:
...on top of that add Shelter
...and depending on the climate, Clothing...lol.


Want to live even longer:
...add First Aid and some form of Healthcare

I think you get my point....LOL.


If you want a relatively modern and functioning society, at this point wifi internet is a basic necessity.

Take that away, the nation won't last long because it will fall into chaos and be conquered.

It depends on how we define a modern and functioning society. 

 

Amish people have been slow to embrace technology.  They haven't been plunged into a state of chaos or conquered.

The Amish operate INSIDE the world's most militarily powerful nation and are pretty much guaranteed security by them.

The island of Jamaica could easily conquer the Amish and snatch their musty asses up by their long grey beards.....if the U.S. government just sat back with their arms crossed and allowed them in to do it.
America protect those within her territory....including those without the power to protect themselves like the Amish, Mennonites and other so-called "independent" communities.

Think of the Amish as a senile old man living in the attic of his rich son-in-law and daughters well guarded multi million dollar mansion....
He can afford to open the window cussing and shaking his fists at people who walk past his home because it's well guarded and nobody will bother to get to him anyway...lol.
