2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC)

The 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) is being held in Chicago this week.

 

The DNC will officially nominate VP Kamala Harris to run for POTUS.

 

POTUS Joe Biden will pass the torch. Plenty folks will speak to support the nominee.

 

The DNC starts with Pro-Palestinian protests outside the United Center. They are demanding a cease-fire in Gaza. Doubtful anyone will make such an announcement this week.

 

I know our very own @aka Contrarian lives in the great state of Illinois. I'm wondering how far she lives from the windy city.

 

Otherwise, it would be great if we had a boots on the ground correspondent at the DNC reporting whatever we don't get to see and hear on TV.

@ProfDYes, I live in a suburb 17 miles west of Chicago, about a 20-minute drive from the United Center where the convention is being held,  and which is also the home court of the Chicago Bulls.  The city has been preparing for this event all summer and  excitement is polluting the air.

I, myself, like most  others, am ŕestricted  to watching this historic  event on TV. One of my daughters, however, volunteered to be a member of the reception crew so she will be getting a close up look at things.

We shall see what we shall see...

@aka Contrarian, figured you relatively close to the action.  Far enough away to not be impacted by traffic and tourists and protesters. 

 

Very cool that your daughter will be in the mix at the United Center.  Hopefully, she can catch some tea to spill.

 

After speaking past midnight, POTUS PJB hopped on a plane and landed in Cali early this morning for a vacation. 

 

The Obamas will be among the speakers scheduled tonight. Of course, I'll be tuned in to hear them sell the program.

The DNC didn't steal the nomination from POTUS PJB. They saw him struggling in the ring after his debate performance and a few missteps. They correctly pulled him out of battle and promoted a stronger alternative.

 

The DNC crowd is highly energized in standing behind POTUS PJB as he continues to do the job and passes the torch to VP Kamala Harris as Democratic nominee.

 

IMO, the DNC redeemed themselves very well compared to where they were a month ago.

The Obamas gave excellent speeches in support of nominee VP Kamala Harris in her bid for POTUS.

 

I believe former POTUS Bill Clinton will be the keynote speaker tonight.

Rev. Al Sharpton and exonerated men from the Central Park 5 were at the DNC tonight.

 

Somebody needs to tell Sharpton he has already won the Ozempic Olympics. Nobody else gonna lose as much weight. He also needs to give his head a chance to catch up with the rest of his body.

VP Kamala Harris as Democratic nominee for POTUS did an excellent job in her acceptance speech.

 

VP Harris wore her trademark power suit. Her voice wasn't overly annoying.  She didn't cackle. She handled the DNC business.
