Pioneer1 Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Many people believe that the word "race" that is used to describe groups of people is also closely related to the "race" that describes a timely competition. Just like a car race, horse race, even a foot race..... They believe that the word "race" was chosen for these various groups because they were literally in COMPETITION with each other for power, land, wealth, and other resources and who could accumulate the most in the shortest amount of time.

One meaning and the main if not the original meaning of race.....is that of a competition for a single or scarce objective. 17 hours ago, Pioneer1 said: Just like a car race, horse race, even a foot race..... Yes...in which there can only be one winner except for dead heat or ties... 17 hours ago, Pioneer1 said: They believe that the word "race" was chosen for these various groups because they were literally in COMPETITION with each other for power, land, wealth, and other resources and who could accumulate the most in the shortest amount of time. Yes this is the underlying belief - which is flawed. Those who coined the word race with the above meaning or connotation were in error. We are not in competition but those who believe we are behave as if we are.....And so created a social condition of desperation. This idea of Competition is based in or on the false idea of scarcity.
