Democratic House Minority Leader Blows Hot Air

Featured Replies

Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is still selling tickets to a fight against Republicans that doesn't exist.

Rep. Jeffries is vowing that Democrats will continue fighting for Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits.

There's no path to Democrats winning a fight when Republicans are majority in House and Senate.

Rep . Jeffries House seat may be safe for now. However, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's political future is in jeopardy as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may primary him.

Regardless, the Democrats are as stable as a 3 leg chair in Congress. They are powerless. Somebody needs to tell Rep. Jeffries to sat down somewhere...else.🤣😎

They should have been fighting for Universal Healthcare instead of some disastrous and confusing Obama Care that makes the insurance companies richer than they already are.

At one point during Obama's Presidency....both the House of Representatives AND the Senate was majority Democrat and I think the S-Court more Left leaning than they are today.
They not only could have passed Universal Healthcare but they probably could have CONSTITUTIONALIZED it and made it a Constitutional Right of every citizen.

Right. Those same Democrats could have codified Roe v Wade.

Nope. Two sides of the same coin or two wings on the same bird.😁😎

It appears that Democrats are nothing more than Republican lite.

What I've been noticing for years....decades now...is how they play the game.

Republicans will come along and introduce some right-wing policy.
Usually it doesn't get passed and the Democrats will PRETEND to fight against it.
They'll wait a few years or wait until we change Presidents a couple times and then the Republicans will introduce an EVEN MORE extreme and asinine right-wing policy 10 times worse than the one they originally pushed for.
The Democrats will them come through with THAT same policy that was originally pushed by Republicans but offer it as a milder and tamer alternative that the public will find more palatable.

They did this with Health Care.
They did this with Welfare Reform.
They did this with Affirmative Action.

The Democrats pushed more Republican policies through than Republicans themselves.

Yep. They have divided themselves into the Progressive Far Left and Moderate/Centrist. Neither has much power over real Republicans.😁😎

ProfD

And what they're calling "Progressive" is usually far off the mark from actual REAL Progress.
Especially as it relates to AfroAmericans.

Back in the day, what it meant to be "liberal" was pretty clear.
You were against war.
You were for AfroAmerican Rights.
You were for Women's Rights.
You were for programs that helped the poor.

Then in the 80s they muddied it up with abortion, homosexuality, and illegal immigration.

Not that these things aren't important and shouldn't be discussed....but they should stand on their own merit and not be tethered to other movements.

Black folks are slowly beginning to realize the Democratic party uses their votes to win elections.  Democrats have never intended to push any policies that benefit Black folks.  Their main purpose is controlled opposition to the Republicans.😎

My Obama care plan went up by 500% so I’ll have to switch plans. I found another one that was roughly the same price and the hospital network I currently use take the insurance so I believe I’ll be good….

I don’t like the idea of shutting down the government, not paying folks reducing services and all that.

Next year is midterm elections will give the Democrats a bit more leverage. And I know it’s early, but I can’t see another republican taking over when Trump leaves.

If Trump starts heading out checks again, all bets are off.

Damn!
That's beyond robbery....that's satanic.

They said that after the "deal" that was made in Congress to end the shutdowns....that insurance premiums on some plans would increase.
I didn't know that increase would take place THIS quick though.

I thought the entire purpose of Obamacare or the "Affordable" Care Act was to keep the premiums low and affordable.

That's why Democrats chose to let the government shutdown.  They knew premiums would increase especially under the big beautiful bill.😎

I'm wondering what their strategy was in CAVING to the Republicans and opening it back up?
Did they think once the premiums shot up sky high that this would cause so much of an outrage that the public would then turn against the Republicans?

If anything, this will probably have the opposite effect by looking even weaker than they already do.
They're gonna get the blame for the high insurance premiums because the public is going to feel THEY had an opportunity to prevent it.

When the mid-term elections roll around, Democrats are hoping the American people will remember 1) government shutdown,  2) skyrocketing insurance premiums, 3) economy and 4) everything else the current administration has done.

In the absence of a plan for how they are going to make life better for Americans, Democrats are hoping the Republicans implode under their own negative weight.😎

They should have went for Universal Healthcare.
For basic needs atleast.

We can still have health insurance if you want perks and extra benefits like a pimped-out hospital room or work compensation or certain designer drugs.
But for basic care to keep people healthy, it should be absolutely free.

At one point Obama had both Houses Democrat led and a more Liberal S-Court.
If they were really sincere about it they could have done it.

Obama Care was pretty much a give away to the insurance companies because now you're FORCED to get health insurance whether you want to or not.

Universal healthcare won't happen in a country built on capitalism. Money controls politicians.

Sure. Big pharma and medical industry lobbyists wrote the legislation.😎
