Cynique
This is such a common occurrence, that public indignation has become desensitized. Life in America, - land of the free white man and home of the brave black one. A 15-year-old girl in Chicago was an innocent victim of a drive-by shooting, while elsewhere in the city, gun fire broke out at a funeral for a gang member, and 2 of his friends in attendance at the church were shot by a rival gang member. One died at the scene and the other was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. No eyebrows were raised. Just another day in the streets of "Chiraq".
Xeon
This is a very tragic story. No doubt. But I find it to be ironic and troubling that Negroes will wail, foam at the mouth and hysterically rant about a white killing a black but stand mute and seemingly indifferent to the mass slaughter of black on black crime that happens every single day in America. Where is the collective outrage and angst at the black on black brutal gang rapes (often the victims are children), vicious beatings, multiple execution style murders and senseless individual homicides that happen on a daily basis? Makes no sense to me.....
Pioneer1
This is the danger of an over-armed and under-policed or atleast improperly policed society. You have a situation where it's every man for himself and people begin to think and behave like savages. One of the problems with these "stand your ground" laws is that most civilians aren't trained like the police are to determine who is a threat and who is not, nor are they trained on how to de-escalate potentially violent situations. Most gun rights activist promote the idea of everyone having the right to kill in the name of self defense but they're a spiritual aspect to killing another human being that most people aren't prepared to deal with.
