I wasn't buying it either and I think that most reasonable peopleย

drew that same conclusion early on.

ย

He supposedly did all that to attract attention, and he has received

it, but the way he carries on it seems to me that he may haveย some

sort of mentalย issues.ย  I wonder if he has had a psych eval, becauseย

he damn sure needs one.ย  If I was his attorney, I'd approach theย

court with that defense, because something is definitely off.ย

ย

His family has been very supportive of his nonsense.ย  If that wasย

my offspring or sibling, I would have told him that he is on his own

with hisย courtย appearances.ย  There is no way that I would have

escorted his lying behind to court and supported him throughout

all of this.

ย

If he is sentenced to prison time, he needs to shut his face, manย

up,ย do his time, and hope he doesn't get beat up in prison.

ย

And if I was the judge, I would probably impose some additional

sentenceย for all that perjury he did, lying on the witness stand.

ย

I know this drama is far from over, and I wonder what will happenย

next.ย  Whatever happens, this young man is too old to be actingย

so childish.

@Mzuri, all is well on my end. Hopefully so for you and yours too.

ย

When I first heard that dumbazz story, I thought, this dude needs a real azz whupping Singapore style.ย ๐Ÿ˜

ย

Taxpayer money totally went to waste in pursing this one. At another place in time, they would have told him to shut up and take a few seats.

ย

However, nowadays because everyone has a right to be heard and taken seriously, we're forced to deal with a certain amount of foolishness.ย

ย

I believe he should have to pay a huge fine for wasting public resources on his publicity stunt.๐Ÿ˜Ž

Lol! Even the threat that could happen would have avoided this whole ย fiasco.

ย

ย Iโ€™m not sure it will hurt his career though.

we have now a couple of generations of men who were raised with privilege relative to previous generations; Great economies, never forced to go to war, participation trophies, etcโ€ฆ men who were coddled.ย

Mothers would spank kids from my generation for crying, today the call their kidโ€™s bosses to complain about their kids performance reviewโ€ฆ

In this young manโ€™s world this hair brained scheme seemed like a perfectly good idea; so used to sympathy, so accustomed to accommodations why would he expect anything but outrage for being treated so badlyโ€”poor baby even had a scratch under his eyeโ€ฆ.

of course people saw through this, because most of us, fortunately live in a more realistic world.

This is a huge peeve of mine. Dudes are getting real soft mentally and physically because they are not being raised to man up.ย

ย

There is already a war on masculinity.ย  The last thing we need is a bunch of marshmallows running around when the proverbial sh8t hits the fan.ย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

There has been for some time now. I believe there are inherent emotional differences between men and women. These differences are both natural ย necessary.

ย

Some in our culture seemingly prefer to believe that men are really just women with penises, or that they should beโ€ฆ

ย

Iโ€™m talking about the general case; Physically and emotionally men and women are on a spectrum. There are some women who are physically stronger than some men, but in general men are stronger.

ย

The differences between men and women should be celebrated, not blurred or erased.

You are spot on about all of this, especially about the parentsย

getting involved in their grown children's employment.

ย

I spent a few years employed in an Army commander's office,ย

it was a training battalion and I scheduled soldiersย training,ย

among other things.ย

ย

The commander would get calls from irate/concerned parents

who thought they had some influence over military mattersย

concerning their children.ย  Things like disciplinary actions,ย

grades/scores, or soldiers being dischargedย because they

wereย unfit for military life for various reasons.

ย

All that those phone calls accomplished was additional scorn

for the soldier that he/she would call their parents to complain,

or ask their parentsย to intervene on their behalf, which was

considered as weakness and unbecoming.

ย

So the parents would have been wise to stay out of it,ย but that's

not human nature, is it.ย  Human nature is toย coddleย their young,

when what is actually needed is a kickย in the pants.

ย

Anyway, I just saw an article that says Jussie's Hollywoodย

career is over.ย  Forever.

ย

Hollywood will never UNcancel him

Absolutely, parents are responsible for protecting theirย young people up to a point.

ย

However, parents should not be demanding participation trophies when their kids lose and/or getting involved in employment issues for their grown azz children.๐Ÿ˜

The world doesn't owe spoiled brats anything. But, life will definitely kick them in their pants.ย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

@Troy

ย

Smollett's family was being supportive, but I don't thinkย

I wouldย have stood by him after his lies were exposed.ย

Hisย sister must have had a difficult decision, especiallyย

when factoring in the impact on her own acting career.

ย

I was in a training battalion, and the soldiers that theย

parents were calling about were just starting out in theirย ย

military careers.ย  So I can relate to them wanting to getย

involved, but they shouldn't have.

ย

More recently, a childhood friend of my Husband's,ย

called him to ask for his help regarding her grandson.

She had raised her grandson as her own child.

ย

My Husband is retired military, served for thirtyย years,

he achieved the highest enlisted rank,ย Sergeant Major,

and was a Command Sergeantย Major for over tenย years.ย

He knows a lot of peopleย and has connections.

ย

His friend's grandson was a commissioned officer,ย

he was a Major stationedย in Germany.

ย

His wife stayed in the U.S. with their children,ย she wentย

to Germany to visit him and found out he wasย having an

affair.ย  And the husband and wifeย gotย into a physical fist

fight.ย  It must have been aย doozyย because military police

were called.

ย

Anytime the MPs are involved, the incident goesย onto a

blotterย report that's distributed to all units/commanders

the next morning, and everybodyย knows about whateverย

happened.ย  ย

ย

It could be a child or wife got caughtย shopliftingย from the

PX, a traffic stop, or whatever, the soldierย is going to be

held accountable by his chain ofย command if their nameย

is on the blotter.

ย

So the Major was in all kinds of trouble andย was about to

lose his commission and be dischargedย from the military

when his grandmotherย called myย Husband.ย ย

ย

She asked if he could help, and he toldย herย there was

nothing he could do about it.ย  She said she wasย going

to call theirย congressman.

ย

I could have told her that it would be better if sheย stayed

out of it, I knew that she has a stubbornย temperamentย and

that she would not listen to me.ย ย

ย

I have been around the military all my life, and Iย knew that

she was making things worse andย wasting her time.ย

ย

If he was going to have an affair,ย which is notย permitted in

the military even if geographicallyย separated from a spouse,ย

he should haveย been more discreet and not broughtย his side

piece to his apartment where his wifeย wouldย find evidence.

ย

They never should have had a physicalย fight, where either

one of them could have beenย injured.ย  For a commissionedย

officer, this was not acceptable.

ย

So now the Major's whole military career is gone,ย hisย wifeย

divorced him,ย his future had been brightย andย now it's trash.ย

ย

He lost his retirement pensionsย and everything else.

ย

Over some tail and not being more careful.ย  Then beating

upย his wife.

ย

And grandmother getting involved did not helpย anything.

Being an actor, he was still in character.ย ๐Ÿ˜

ย

The real question is whether his next job will require props or a costume or uniform.ย ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • 3 weeks later...

This may not be a very popular position to take but...I support my brother.

When White women cry victim and claim that they were victims of sexual assault, they are usually believed by society until OVERWHELMING evidence is produced that erases all doubt and proves them to be liars.
Now all of a sudden that standard is lowers when a Half-Black man claims to be a victim of a racist and homophobic attack.

Now all of a sudden the police are suspicous of his claims, checking all of the video tapes, doing everything EXCEPT treating him as a victim of a crime.

Did he make it all up?

Perhaps

But the interesting thing is even to this very moment despite over 90% of the public agreeing that he lied and made the whole thing up....HE still maintains that he was indeed a victim and that he didn't make it up.ย  I find that VERY interesting that he stands so firmly on his accusations despite all of this "evidence" the police allegedly produced that it didn't happen.

Another and more broader issue with this case is, if we reject Jussie and his claim.....it opens the door to rejectย  OTHER claims of racial attacks.

A racial attack claim used to be as sacred and indisputable as a sexual assault claim.
You were almost villified for just QUESTIONING whether or not it actually happened.
The Jussie Smollett case has changed that to where now if a Black man claims to be a victim of a racist attack...it's met with skepticism and sometimes open disbelief.
How long will it be before people are lynched in the streets again and the claim will be "it didn't happen....they're making it all up"????
