The Mirage of a Progressive Ethnic Coalition

                               Politically speaking, most oppressed minority groups in America vote Democratic against white, right wing, Christian, racist, homophobe Republicans.

 

                               These groups are blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, and LGBTQ.
                    
                               But, beyond the fact that they vote for the same party does not dismiss the tribalism that is strong among them. 

 

                              There are a lot of blacks that don't like Mexicans and vice versa. 
 
                              Someday, when the Anglo white population dwindles down to a bare minority (even though they will still have the economic power), then that is when you are really going to see the tensions between rise between non-Hispanic blacks and Hispanics.

 

                              Personally, in their heart of hearts, I think Hispanics really would like to be considered white and technically they are (despite the fact that most Latino nationalities are mestizos). 

                              Maybe not white in the same sense as an Irishman, German, Englishman, or Norwegian; but, more like a southern Italian, southern Spaniard, or an Arab since most of them share a similar brown complexion.

 

                              My Grandad always said that when a Mexican gets a nickel, he thinks he is white. This is actually a colonial Latin American concept.  During the that era, it was not uncommon for some well-to-do Spaniards to provide their mestizo and mulatto offspring education, land, money, and status. Thus, they frequently classified them as white.  This also explains the reason why Dominicans and Haitians don't get along. Dominican mulattoes think they are white compared to full black Haitians.

 

                              There are also tensions between Asians and blacks, particularly with Koreans. In LA, back in 1992, a 15 old black girl was shot in the head by a Korean shop owner. This incident took a back seat to the Rodney King police beating. I hear that Koreans are some of the most racist Asians. At the time of the riots, Korean shop owners were targeted.

 

                              At one time, there used to be a strong alliance between African Americans and Jews.  Jews were some of the biggest supporters of the civil rights movement. But, when Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan made anti-Semitic back in the '80s, relations between blacks and Jews have suffered since. In all fairness, Jesse Jackson apologized for the offensive remarks he made. In more recent times, Rep. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota has made anti-Semitic remarks regarding Israel.

 

                             And none of the groups that were mentioned above like gays. There are many black Christians, Hispanic Catholics, Muslims, and Orthodox Jews that are just as opposed to homosexuality as white Protestant Evangelicals.

 

                             So, just because different groups of people vote Democrat does not mean that they like each other.

 

                             Right now, they are too busy fighting white supremacy, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and homophobia.

 

                            But, after 2045, when the minorities will collectively become the majority, these rifts will come to the surface.

The question , if one wants peace, is how to get the multiracial human populace in the usa to have parties of governance that allow their obvious dislikes or various levels of negativity to exists while still allowing some sort of functional peaceful coexistence. 

You predict rifts, but they have always been. So, the question is how to create peaceful community with the rifts still in existence

I doubt there will be any powerful or effective ethnic coalitions.

People of Color tend to NOT like each other because the ego driven cliques of each group generally pursue the same two objectives that Whites do: Wealth and Power. 

These ones care little about anything else. 

If you take a gander at the thread starters of such ones on here, how many are related to gaining wealth? But fail to include precious details on how this can be achieved. Just empty claims that so many are doing this or doing that to get rich, minus verifiable confirmation.

I learned decades ago to ignore:

(1) Those who continually offer rosy claims, (but in abysmal writing), that's absent of any confirmable proof

(2) Folks who lie outright, or do so through ignorance, because they expect everyone to swallow their B.S. 

(3) Have little or no sympathy for those they look down upon - even though they themselves are not rich or famous

(4) Repeat the same get rich canard every week or create new threads harking back to the repetitive dubious nonsense

(5) Think following the philosophy of White Supremacy will somehow or some way, make them wealthy.

@Stefan fair enough, my offline life speaks true to alot of what you say...  but whomever can answer my question is the answer. At the end of the day, the betterment will come when the problem is solved.

Your question has already been answered by events in past history and events unfolding today. There will never be any true peace, just an uneasy pretension of folks getting along with each other.

The nature of Earth Humanity is to dominate and control. Not to help others. Especially when the targets have a different skin hue, religion, language or possess something that others want.

This is not true in every instance. But when reviewing true and verifiable events in global human history, this truth cannot be denied.

It's okay. People on this planet tend to really dislike each other these days. You may be an optimist and want peace, but look how many are arrayed against you.

When Mexicans first began crossing the border illegally to settle in southern California decades ago, all was cool until their numbers grew so large, they actually began to threaten long time White and Black residents.

First physically, through sheer numbers, street gangs and strict adherence to a loose code based on "La Raza" (The Race).

Then politically as they began to vote in greater numbers. 

Now, financially. 

This did not affect wealthy Whites too much. They simply moved into the valleys or further north.

But it eventually cost Blacks in Los Angeles their political power. 

One thing I have long noticed about Immigrants of Color: When they get a chance for upward mobility, many will often adopt the worst psychological attributes and characteristics of White Racists. This affords them a faster way to assimilate and vaults them immediately into the ranks of "favored minorities."

The only way this works for non-celebrity or non-rich Blacks is when they continuously and loudly malign, insult or denigrate their own people. Then they become darlings of The Right.
