Cynthia is an exotic international star, a Nigerian originally from England. I don't consider her a "home girl". She is in the avant gard, rarified atmosphere of gender bending. GQ is an arm of the entertainment industry which is very supportive of the LBGTQ community. They don't have an obligation to cater to any one group. Controversy can increase their sales. That's show biz

Yep. Sherrone Moore is married to a snow bunny. He was having an affair with another snow bunny and knocked her up. Believe the knocked up snow bunny and her father both work at the University of Michigan. Allegedly, this dumbazz n8gglet proceeds to threaten his knocked up mistress at knife point. Moore has thrown away his *job* after getting fired from the university. He will probably lose his freedom too. All of this for some vanilla snatch box. As Earth, Wind and Fire sang in "Where Have All the Flowers Gone...when will they ever learn".
-
Gotcha. Thanks for sharing. I do think it is a slight to Black people presenting a masculinized woman as man of the year. Just a matter of time before they feature some Billy Porter type on the cover of Vogue. I don't recall Ellen DeGeneres being declared man of the year or Bruce Jenner as the new face of Cosmopolitan.

University of Michigan football coach got his black ass fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Then the disgraced brotha was later arrested for assault after police were summoned to an apartment he'd gone to. I'm sure Sherrone Moore has a large penis. And his "victim" was probably white. Nothing surprising about this situation. Gee, he's almost as bad as - Barack and Hakeem.

Cynthia Erivo: Disgracing The Black Woman
aka Contrarian replied to Pioneer1's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
@Pioneer1Who gives a damn what Neely-Full-of-it says? I dont. Like you, he just sat around blowing a lot of hot air, making moutains out of mole hills, never really relevant to a large segment of America's black population, never having an impact. Relatively few Blacks have even heard of him and his message attributing all black woes to the nebulous "THEY" from whom all evil flows. blah, blah, blah. A Nigerian lesbian from England poses no threat to the vast majority of black women. And you act as if homosexuality isn't widespread among all ethnicities. Actually, black individuals think for themselves and lead the kind of lives they choose. The black masses manage to survive. And the beat goes on. That's reality. Something you are far removed from. -
@ProfDNot trying to change anybody's mind. Just thought it was an interesting article. I'm not really a fan of Cynthia's. I hate her bald head. And she is not my tribe. Not descended from slaves. Having said all of that, I still don't agree with jive-assed nigga pioneer's attempt to blemish her.

I don't believe Black women will look at Cynthia Erivo's nomination as win. Jada Pinkett Smith might appreciate it as much as Cynthia does.

Cynthia Erivo: Disgracing The Black Woman
ProfD replied to Pioneer1's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Cynthia Erivo is in the entertainment business where it literally pays to be different. The GQ Man of the Year sh8t was unnecessary but such is case when we lack ownership. Powerless in telling these folks what is an acceptable representation of Black folks. No other group of people would be insulted that way. Unfortunately, Black folks aren't going to do anything about how we're being presented in print and visual media. -
Recently British/Nigerian actress Cynthia Erivo has been featured on the cover of several magazines. Among them are GQ...a MEN'S magazine where she was featured among the "men of the year". Another is Harper's Bazaar where she's featured in photos with her muscles and tattoos on prominent display. For those of you who think this is some innocent or harmless work of art. Remember that Neely Fuller Jr. has been warning us for DECADES of the plans by the Racists to not just feminize Black men but also MASCULINIZE Black women!
-
...excerpted from an article about the Golden Globes Awards. "Cynthia Erivo has made Golden Globes history, becoming the first Black woman nominated twice in the lead actress (musical) category. Her second nomination comes for her role in Wicked: For Good, where she stars alongside Ariana Grande. Known for her powerful performances, Erivo’s career continues to break barriers, cementing her place as one of the most talented actors of her generation. The nomination is a significant moment for representation in Hollywood, as it highlights how far Black women have come in the entertainment industry, while underscoring the long road still ahead to ensure diverse voices are truly celebrated."

Apparently not profound enough for you to tag with a heart or trophy, lol. .....like I do YOUR posts from time to time.
-
Wow, how profound are those words? Nobody could ever mistake you for being an original thinker.

Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock made TENS of MILLIONS of dollars standing on stage cussing. Their vocabulary was far from limited and they are loved around the world for their wit and entertainment. The same can be said for many Rappers. There's a time and place for everything. Cussing may not be appropriate in one setting while totally acceptable in another. I think KNOWING when and where cussing is appropriate reflects the caliber of a person more than whether or not they do it at all.

"Listen suga.... Ever when you wanna get out the sex industry, just let me know...here? I'll talk to Dolemita on yo' behalf and work something out. I been knowing her since her Post Office days when we used to work the back-rooms together. Holding envelopes up to them old light bulbs so we could see what was inside of 'em!"

Oh Boy, Here We Go Again.......
aka Contrarian replied to Pioneer1's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Strange question coming from a jive assed nigga who contaminates this board with all the garbage he dumps off here. Too bad he couldn't keep up the payments on his make-over and now he just looks like a narcisstic ol white guy. Nobody believes me at first when I tell them I'm "jive assed nigga". But as soon as I start talkin, they realize it's me cuz I still talk trash and my breath still smells like shit. OINK-OINK. -
Why are you asking me these things when you know I'm not religious, lol. Do YOU believe in them?

Troy The dog has been the "best friend" of Caucasians since their days in the caves. It was the only wild animal they were able to tame and they used to use them as "alarms" to warn them when more dangerous animals like bears would approach the cave dwellings. They also used dogs as "nannies" to watch over and help raise the children. That's where the term "son of a bitch" came from. Infact, in many cases they even used the female dogs as "wet nurses" to feed the children if human women weren't producing enough milk! You find statues like this all over Europe:

also starring...... ...you remember him as Antoine from Men On Film "Don't get it twisted honey! Just 'cuz a man might juggle balls..... Don't mean he go be somebody's clown!" introducing DAVID ALAN GRIER as Apostle Reverend Bishop Willie Wilson of the Greater Mt.Zion Missionary Baptist Church Of Central Avenue "Some folks get rich sellin' dope. I makes mah money sellin' hope!"

Troy I’m just not sure how much they are influenced by two middle-aged women and their run of the mill looking white boy mates. When people see the Williams sisters, they don't think of "middle aged" because they don't look it nor do they behave like it. On television and in pictures atleast....they look about as young as they did when they were in their 20s. So most young women can relate to them. Also, celebrities tend to be looked up to by all generations in all stages of their lives, including old age because many people live their lives THROUGH their favorite celebrities. They are like a catharsis. The Williams sisters are what many Black women hold as the idea of success, so who they these "successful" sistas CHOOSE to spend their lives with will strongly influence others to do the same. The message is: "If you want to be successful and happy or STAY successful and happy.... find a White man to share you life with"
-
Well..... Personally, I like her latest name: Dolemita It seems even more fitting of her personality than either Cynique OR aka Contrarian. Cynique sounds kinda "sneaky", and aka Contrarian sounds too much like "librarian" But Dolemita.......now that HITS. When you hear the word "Dolemita"....you can mind picture a big fist with gold rings on it coming through the screen coming right at you!

Of course, this old man was already familiar with the expression. Had to chuckle to myself when I heard about it. My 1st thought was these kids nowadays...what a dumbazz recycling of 6 in one hand, 1/2 dozen in the other or 50-50 or so-so.

@Pioneer1 I am Dr. Love. It doesn't always seem necessary or relevant, though.
