  2. Definitely. Over time, life expectancy has increased, humans can travel greater distances & faster, medicine has gotten better to name a few things. Automobiles, industrial revolution, construction, television, music, computers, fashion, etc. Humans have done quite a bit since they built the pyramids. Right now, there are 8 billion people on the planet. Far more than at any other point in time. Like religion & any other cause or thing people choose to champion, the environment & climate change & effects of it concern folks to varying degrees. Humans think their carbon footprint & pollution & actions are destroying the planet. Only to the extent that it affects life on it. The Earth will be fine. There's a reason I mention the age of the Earth & how long it will be around long after human existence. Those events people consider natural disasters happen for a reason. The Earth protects itself. 😎
  3. You cannot use homo sapiens as your benchmark; no AI will never be conscious in the same way a human or a French poodle is.
  4. I was never a fan videos that cherry pick a statement out of content and serve it up with a provocative title like AI "needs consciousness" He did not say that. I found the full video and will watch it later this evening. The video was uploaded 11 months ago. I don't know when it was created but I suspect it has been at least a year-- which is a 100K years in human time.
  5. Humans cannot create Beings. If it were so, humans would be reproducing themselves by other means...IVF doesn't count.😁 AI is a computer. It is a machine. No different from a robot or self-driving car. IMO, AI does not naturally have attributes similar to Beings. That's why it is artificial.😎
  6. You are in a different filter Bubble they have never stopped saying it and there is more content that ever about it. Are you sure? Have we made the planet healthier for human habitation over time? The technology that enabled man to build the pyramids or chart the cosmos has been lost.

  9. Reading is worth our time even when it doesn’t change our lives. But if we’re buying a book because we want to grow, I think it’s fair to ask what we get beyond encouragement. I’m Ralph Clotaire Jean, a Black author born in Haiti. My book, My Voice: A Guide to Mastering Life, Truth, and Purpose, explores discipline, self-awareness, personal responsibility, and purpose. One line from the book is, “Low standards destroy high potential.” What interests me is whether an idea like that helps someone examine a habit or make a different choice. Recognizing yourself in a passage can be a start. What happens afterward matters, too. I also published a Haitian Creole edition so readers who speak the language could have access to the same ideas. Kirkus Reviews wrote, “Jean inspires readers to take charge of their lives in this empowering guide.” I’d appreciate consideration for an honest, independent AALBC book review. Publisher: Supreme Legacy Press Publication date: April 14, 2026 Paperback ISBN: 9798218879747 Website: ralphclotairejean.com Contact: contact@ralphclotairejean.com Which book by a Black author has changed how you think or live? What stayed with you after you finished it?

  11. Many Ancient cultures accept as a fact that All Things animate and inanimate have Consciousness...From the small thing to the entire Universe Emotions is a State of Being.... bought on by some form of Stimulation - Regardless of whether or not that stimulation originated within or without AI Exists so it is a Being....A Thing is a Being - Because it IS..... All Beings exist in a Specific Or General Condition....often switching between the two - States Any Thing then is a Being ...All Being are In a State - then it is Conscious..... Is it the same as your consciousness - Yes and No Yes..... in that All Consciousness is One No.... in that the apparatus of its Physicality and Condition differs from yours The same Consciousness in a dog and in a human will be expressed differently because of limitations imposed by physical conditions or attributes. Yes.... In the sense below.... Just like us and as we are socialized(programmed) to do....Feral human express only basic instinctive emotion like the animals who nurtured them The same way you think you recognize some ones emotional state...but you cannot be sure of another emotional state - in most circumstances They are three major ways to surmise any one emotional state....Facial Expression Body Language and Verbal Cues - All of which can be faked or misread.
  12. Some AI has three of those qualities.... The fourth is in question only because it is Internal and Subjective....if by Emotion you mean Feelings as in Touch then that is covered by Sensation
  13. It was definitely a popular thought back in the day. I don't hear today's religious folks saying it. Looking at recorded history over time, humans have had their up & downs past to present but it has steadily progressed in many ways especially from a technological perspective. The very things that lead people to believe these are the last & evils days or society is in decline are a blessing or curse depending on who is being asked &/or affected. Again, the human existence is a blip compared to the age of the earth. One way or another, humans will be long gone well before the planet goes cold billions of years from now.😎
  14. Yesterday
  15. My mom always said that, but she a preacher daughter form the south and they all believed that. Shoot, some of them prayed for the end times it could not get here fast enough. But that was a vestige of slavery and a completely different thing. Today we have actual indicators of a society in decline. History has shown us before. Look if the earth was made up of people like you and I we might not have AI, but that Earth would be a happier place with clean air clean... Unfortunately, this outcome was probably inevitable you only need a handful of psychopaths to really screw things up for the rest of us. Look at what Hitler and Stalin accomplished. Today we have more than enough psychos running around. Yes, we are blessed :-)
  16. I'm really not judging them but I can see how it looks that way.🤣 I remember the elders telling me these were "the last & evil days"....that was several decades ago.🤣 So far, my lifetime has never been filled with doom & gloom. If the future becomes dystopian & I'm still alive to witness it, at least I can say the majority of my time on the planet has been a blast.😁😎
  17. Hubris reflecting being raised in this country. But I guess it really depends on how long you think you will be around and what metric(s) you are basing you rankings.
  18. Well, you are clearly judging them. "...a whole lotta people are stupid as f8ck" is the tell 😆 Seriously, unless something changes dystopia is in the future for most of the planet. We will be trust into a dark age. A few thousands years from now someone will dig up a cell phone and wonder how this was possible so long ago -- surmising it must have been aliens.
  19. Well it probably, at least partially, true but again it is a leap to ascribe "fear" and "desire," human emotions, as part of the motivation. Indeed we can say with certainty how emotions emerge in us. Avoidance of destruction does not have be motivated by an emotion. it could be another goal. The choice between destruction and avoiding destruction could be made just as easily one way of the other by an AI. Again, assuming an AI is afraid, it the wrong way to look at it. Some human will be copulating with it -- someone is probably doing that right now somewhere...
  20. Right. That sh8t has never made sense to me.🤣 Whether it is camping out or standing in long azz lines or fighting over a TV, a whole lotta people are stupid as f8ck.😁 I'm not judging them. This is just my observation/opinion.😉 Same goes for people who snatch & grab stuff just because it is free.😎
  21. As I mentioned in the other thread, robots have been around longer than AI. To date, robots do not have feelings nor consciousness. IMO, AI will always be another technological tool even if some humans try to be friends with it.😁😎
  22. Triage brother. You put you mask on first, before helping the kids. Truth be told, financially, the little one is doing just fine LOL! "Keeping me up" is just an expressions. I'm not losing sleep over any of this, but AI definitely posed an existential threat in the medium term despite being a force multiplier in the short term. Get used to it. You see what people are capable of during a Black Friday sale...
  23. My idea of collapse is the USA no longer being the most powerful nation on the planet. As a Super-Power, I do not foresee the USA sliding into 2nd or 3rd place within our lifetime.😎
  24. Robots have been around longer than AI. To date, robots still do not have feelings nor consciousness. AI will always be another technological tool even if some humans try to be friends with it.😁😎
  25. OK so who determines what is the "best" content? Who anoints them? Are they volunteers? Volunteerism does not scale and if they are paid the money must come from somewhere, then we are back to the same problem we are in now... I dunno, but following your logic they can use the money to secure more resources and manipulate humans. Yes, you've made my point ;-) Actually, I was wrong. You get 100 searches then you must pay.... The project is doomed. Well, it is just a matter of time. We are witnessing the decline now.
  26. At some point somebody whom I had been discussing AI with....I want to say frankster but I'm not 100% sure because I don't have the quote....said that AI not only possesses self awareness but also has a survival instinct in which some systems avoid being destroyed and self-destruction. If this is true.....IF it's true...the most likely explanation is that somebody programed this security feature into some AI systems. On the other hand, for those who believe AI possesses consciousness.....if this survival instinct or avoidance of destruction arises out of the "consciousness" of the AI entity itself, then there would have to be a MOTIVATOR behind it and that motivator would most likely be an emotion. Like fear or desire. Fear.....of death or non-existence Desire.....to stay alive
  27. Wait, what?! who is this and what did you do with Pioneer1? Well, based upon that definition. AI has demonstrated consciousness. I've seen signs of this in how it responds to me prompt today compared to a year ago.
  28. I do not think emotions are a prerequisite for consciousness. Nor do I think that emotions are a prerequisite for consciousness. When it comes to the AI systems, we like to shoehorn our sensibilities and anthropomorphizing them in the same way we think beings from another planet will think that say way we do. Shoot there are humans on THIS planet whose motivation escape my comprehension. That said I have not heard any stories of AI presenting with emotions, nor do I expect them to. Emotions are a human construct and you can be conscious without them. What is the motivation for your question @Pioneer1 ?
