  2. Right. Anything AI does has been initiated by humans in one way or another. The reality is the people with the most power don't really give a d8mn about who lives or dies including themselves as long as they have paradise while they're on earth. We call that hustling backwards. 🤣 The main reason people don't know how much time they have on the planet is a combination or procrastination & inerttia & every other negative form of mental resources management. The majority of people are quite lazy. They have to be motivated in one way or another to go to school or work or volunteer...do something. I encourage people to live their lives to the fullest as if they only have 5 years left on the planet. That way hopefully people will pour their time & energy into things that bring them the most peace & joy & add to their happiness. What if they live more than 5 years one might ask. Repeat the process. Don't leave anything on the table. As Morgan Freeman's character Red famously said in Shawshank Redemption "get busy living or get busy dying." 😎

  4. frankster Yes....We all live in our own Subjective Reality and a Shared(agreed upon)Reality... then there is Objective Reality(things as they are) What's the difference between the Shared Reality and the Objective Reality? My understanding....I Am open to correction The Moral conflict that Dario Amodie has been talking about historically is using AI for Life and/or Death autonomous use (without human intervention or decision making input) and Mass Domestic surveillance...by the Security State and the Military Industrial Complex Since when did "morals" ever become an issue or prevent White folks from using the technology available to them to enrich themselves and oppress others? They were using the technology at their disposal for mass domestic surveillance and taking people's lives BEFORE the advent of AI....and not giving a damn whether the public agreed with it or not. The article seems to be more concern with the Moral conflict of Making Money and Being First to Market regardless of the Technology's threat to humanity...Doomsdayism. See, and this is what I mean about the hypocrisy of these people. The entire reason they generate this shit is to make money. Their motive IS profit! If they were truly concerned about the future of humanity, they wouldn't have continued to manufacture nuclear weapons which are much more dangerous than AI. What ideas do they reject? They reject the idea of Beings superior to humanity. They feel THEY have the ultimate authority. They reject the idea of Divine Morality....universal rights and wrongs. They reject the idea of a Judgement Day, that they often colloquially call "Doomsday" Like all tools it depends on what Purpose it is being used for... Unlike most tools it depends on what information it was fed.....or built/based on. Which is why I told ProfD that while AI itself wouldn't try to kill humanity, those who ARE trying to kill humanity may feed it information on the best methods to do this! And ofcourse, they'd then point to AI and make the claim that AI was trying to kill off humanity while hiding their wicked hand. AI has been shown to express Racial Bias...to the Disadvantage of Blacks - and to the Advantage of Whites Sure. If it was programmed BY racists, ofcourse it will express racial bias.
  5. ProfD The alarm bells went ot off when the essayist wrote that AI could kill off the human population before the decade ends. I'd consider it more a matter of crying wolf. There's no chance AI in and of itself could do this because it doesn't think for itself, it takes it's orders from humans. However I can certainly see somebody or some group TRYING to kill off a substantial amount of the human population and BLAMING it on AI. Using this AI warning as a scare tactic or as motivation, if people knew they only had 5 or less years left to live, I wonder how differently they would approach life. I'd quit working and find other means to make a living...lol. Some people think it's too scary or morbid to know exactly when you'd die, but I often wonder if it would actually be BETTER in the long run to know exactly when and how you'd die. Atleast you'd know what to spend time on and what NOT to waste time on. If you knew you only had 5 years left....I doubt most people sign up for medical school...lol. But a bet a LOT of people would apply for mortgages on houses....lol. frankster Insightful response It's going to take me a minute to digest it....lol.
  6. frankster True Yeah, however it DID force me to do research behind the name and I found out more interesting things about Burkina Faso and her history. Your Point is taken and understood.... For you it is a Performance in search for adulation.....For me it is a quest in search of greater understanding My point may be TAKEN however while much of my exchanges on this site just like much of my exchanges in real life are for performative purposes -if you think I'm doing it "in search of adulation" then you obviously don't UNDERSTAND my point...lol. As much as I'd like to..... I've been on this site for nearly 15 years and haven't made any money or gotten any coochie from it....yet, lol. What would a bunch of praise and adulation profit me, here? I learn quit a bit from my exchanges with you, but I must be honest....you're not the first source I come to for "greater understanding"...lol. I simply like the brotherhood and comradery I get from exchanges with Black people from around this nation. Especially how Troy has it set up where it's lightly moderated and you don't have to worry about being kicked off or put in "jail" for minor infractions and offenses like other forms of social media.
  7. True Your Point is taken and understood.... For you it is a Performance in search for adulation.....For me it is a quest in search of greater understanding
  8. Are We Living In Separate Realities? Yes....We all live in our own Subjective Reality and a Shared(agreed upon)Reality... then there is Objective Reality(things as they are) Much ado about a foregone conclusion... My understanding....I Am open to correction The Moral conflict that Dario Amodie has been talking about historically is using AI for Life and/or Death autonomous use (without human intervention or decision making input) and Mass Domestic surveillance...by the Security State and the Military Industrial Complex The article seems to be more concern with the Moral conflict of Making Money and Being First to Market regardless of the Technology's threat to humanity...Doomsdayism. What ideas do they reject? Like all tools it depends on what Purpose it is being used for... Unlike most tools it depends on what information it was fed.....or built/based on. Unlike most tools AI makes Decisions.....that can and does affect the life of human beings. Whether through Recommendations or Assisted Decision by providing Information Conclusions and Judgements. The Threat posed by AI is the possibility of Loss of Control The above is about Control/oppression and Market Protectionism Money making schemes AI has been shown to express Racial Bias...to the Disadvantage of Blacks - and to the Advantage of Whites Yes.....One wants to solve issue when they are small and manageable.. Rather than when they are large and exploding exponentially... Diabetes is causing panic in those who are suffering from or with it and their immediate family and loved ones...... For others it is an opportunity Most everyone else involve in the diabetic world are either in the Food or Medical industry and they are benefiting by making money from it.... Yes.... Things that panic you or seems as opportunity for others while still other are unconcerned in anyway.....
  9. The alarm bells went ot off when the essayist wrote that AI could kill off the human population before the decade ends. Surely, whatever problems humans have in society right now would disappear immediately upon their demise. Using this AI warning as a scare tactic or as motivation, if people knew they only had 5 or less years left to live, I wonder how differently they would approach life. 😎
  10. Nazi Boni???? Interesting name for a University....lol. frankster Well, I personally enjoyed the exchange but at this point it seems we're just going in circles and as usual it has evolved (or devolved depending on your perspective) into a pissing contest...lol. One of the reasons I engage in debate is for the same reason I used to fight as a kid.....to get attention and impress my peers, lol. But as a kid, if nobody was watching.....I just walked away, lol. Not out of cowardice....because I would fight to defend myself...but out of lack of purpose. What good is knocking somebody out if nobody else was around to witness how good your skills were??? There's not a lot of evidence that anybody else is reading this exchange between us besides ProfD. Maybe there's some lurkers who find our exchange entertaining....maybe....but obviously it's not motivating them enough to chime in and cheerlead or take sides. If nobody else is watching us or even cares.....I don't see any point in even debating. It's a waste of time and energy. Until others join in and encourage more exchange on this subject.....I say believe what you will. Sorry for taking your thread off course, lol.
  11. Anthropic’s moral conflict is playing out in real time Dario Amodei built Anthropic to avoid this very kind of moment. In a stunning essay Saturday, the chief executive of one of the leading AI companies echoed many of the doomsday warnings—from current and recent employees—that sparked panic across the nation this past week. Anthropic’s moral conflict is playing out in real time __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 🙄 I'm not too interested in the subject of this article itself but posted it to illustrate the difference in concerns so many people in this society seem to have to deal with. The gap seems to be as wide as the Pacific. First of all, what "moral conflict" are we talking about here??? When I hear rich atheistic people talk about "moral conflicts" and "doomsday" it tickles me because they're hypocritically using terms for ideas they pretty much reject anyway. And it's usually over something the average person wouldn't even consider worth discussing. There's nothing moral or immoral about using AI. It's just another tool they've invented to increase production, cut the labor force, and explore innovation. It could be good or bad depending on your perspective. But the claim to....whatever they're talking about....leading to "panic" all over the nation is what got my attention. Many people are dealing with homelessness, power outages, diseases, chronic illnesses, low wages, gang violence, and other REAL PROBLEMS around this nation....so who the fuck is "panicking" over this? .....besides a bunch of rich bastards who's lives are going so great that they have nothing else to worry about EXCEPT this? Dialysis clinics are popping up all over the nation because of so much diabetes and kidney failure among people....but THIS is causing people to "panic" across the nation????? It just shows you how people are living in different Realities as illustrated by their starkly different concerns.

  15. She is paralyzed from the waist down after jumping out of a window. Even if her reproductive system still works on schedule, I doubt there will be many suitors to test it all things considered. Of course, we have no way of knowing how much she is suffering after killing her children. IMO, her body language does not seem too remorseful. She strangled her 3 children with exercise bands. Mistrial indicates not all jurors agreed she was mentally ill. Also, they could have considered about 3 or 4 charges other than murder 1 to convict her. She conveniently sent the father on a trip to CVS. During that time he was out of the house she killed the children. The father who is now her ex-husband testified in her defense. He thinks she didn't get enough psychiatric medical treatment. There are some people (human monsters) who commit crimes in such a way that they deserve to die. Even if we take capital punishment off the table, life without the possibility of parole is better than good enough for the human monsters. Charlie Manson led a cult-like group of flunkies to kill nine people. This woman strangled her 3 children with her own bare hands. Both of them are human monsters. IMO, she's worse than Manson. White folks are interesting when it comes to their willingness or lack thereof to harshly punish themselves. They will exhaust every measure trying to go easy on one of their own. However, when non-white folks commit crimes, white folks are willing to hand out long rides even for offenses that do no reach the level of human monster/savage.😎
  16. Yeah certainly the woman should be sterilized. Presumably the loss of three children is punishment enough. Still she killed three children I did not follow the story, so I have no idea how it was done. What it grisly—l line a gun shot to the head? There had to be consequences beyond just guilty, right? @aka Contrarian what do you think should be done? It is crystal clear the woman is/was mentally ill. IIf she killed my three kids I’d take her out myself. Was there any fathers involved? What do they want? I’m not a fan of capital punishment in any case. But I appreciate it would be more efficient than keeping the likes of Charley Mason alive and he is mentally Iill too, so what’s really the difference between him and this baby killer?
  17. Preliminary NTSB investigation indicates pilots did not activate speed brakes or anti-thrust reversers. Between data recorder & what happened, those two pilots may be facing license suspension &/or further disciplinary actions.😎
  18. Another cargo plane mishap at an airport, killing several people on the ground. This is the second time something like this has happened this year. Is this becoming a pattern? Such events raise the question about the capability of the pilots flying these planes and suspending their licenses seems like an obvious solution to prevent this problem. 🫣
  19. An Illinois woman killed her 2-year old soon by hanging. She was closely following the Clancy case. Hopefully, claiming psychosis won't be a new get out jail free card for women who don't want to raise their children. These unnecessary child murders could be prevented through birth control or using child support services. While it is not the best system, putting a child up for adoption gives them a chance to live versus the alternative.😎

Wise was a proven high quality director for his successes in various genres and I think he comprehended what star trek needed so well that every single star trek movie after has highlighted the enterprise as representing this special way of life. My question is, as someone who does cosplay. What are your thoughts about the costume of the motion picture in comparison to wrath of khan and onward for the original crew? I notice you chose the wrath of khan outfits. I think the motion picture uniforms are less busy and straight forward. I can see people in the future, far future, having a much starker fashion sense than today. I think the outfits of next generation and later seem to suggest Wise was correct in his foretelling fashion. cause the next generation/deepspace nine/voyager/enterprise/discovery uniforms seem closer to the motion picture than wrath of khan. What say you? @pinkythepink an hour and a half, nice work on the badge. LEonard Nimoy I love as a fellow artist. The truth, and looking at shatner's recent documentary proves this, is that paramount never really cared or cares for star trek. Paramount wants to go another way, it is a cash cow, but at its heart star trek is not like all the other major media film brands. They can't milk it into a constant stream of terror like an alien or predator. It isn't vast as a star wars, Star trek has a controlled science fiction. It doesn't have the modern escapism or fantasy that marvel or DC can provide. Star Trek isn't now, by star trek's own accounts now is messy now isn't good, now isn't elegant, now isn't the best, now isn't the hope, the hope is later, not now by star trek's account and I think that makes some people retort from star trek. As mccoy said, today is the dark ages. People today call yesterday the dark ages but star trek calls today the dark ages, spider man is the dark ages. the avengers is the dakr ages. superman is the dark ages. Leonard nimoy comprehended paramount didn't care for star trek even with its value and he was the one who was prepared for wrath of kahn, when whispers say paramount was looking to shut star trek down after the motion picture. And then Nimoy did the whales and I paraphrase him "we had death in every single film, deckerd and haialiyah, spock, and kirk's son, we wanted a story with no deaths and the heart of star trek" and for me, I love the whales and I argue it is the best of the star trek films. Khan is still the best collective performance and a great part 2 film. But in terms o fmood, upbeat positivity, nothing beats the whales. Did anyone buy the bead dresses? they look real cool @DrMistyTang it's funny you mention Uhura isn't snark cause in parallel uhura isn't disrespected. When you look at the film Alien, ripley's love interest dallas, doesn't trust her position and gets everyone but her killed. She has to fight everyone , including the other female crew member to get her point across of to be believed. in terminator 2, sarah connor is in an insane asylum, while being 100% correct. yes if she was a man she would probably be in the same situation because of the various external interest. In star wars, leah has to constantly battle with han or luke who treat her as some fine lady or gentle female. She never treats them with the same gentleness even though she loves them both. The brilliance of Uhura is she is one of the few female characters who for the most part is never questioned by males because she is a woman. She isn't treated less or greater than. She isn't treated like a flower that can't survive, nor is she treated like an idiot r someone who doesn't warrant her post. How many other female characters in well known media can say they haven't been questioned based on them being a female by a male? Yes, I love the Vulcan Harp / Ka’athyra too . After a failed first pilot episode was rejected as "too brainy" for audiences, a rare second pilot episode secured the show's future; but even that pilot wasn't aired until the third episode of season 1. "The Man Trap" won out as it featured distinct sci-fi elements, a mysterious alien monster, and showcase the main trio of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. Who knew! In honor of this stellar anniversary, I have a galaxy full of fun Star Trek facts, fictions, and fantasies for you to enjoy below. Set phasers for fun! Beyond Antares is a song written for Nyota Uhura [ Nichelle Nichols] and was originally sung accompanied by the Vulcan lute. The piano was played by Marl Young, harp played by Catherine Gotthoffer, and guitar played by Laurindo Almeida. September 8th 1966 the first episode of Star Trek Original Lyrics- [ https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Beyond_Antares] The skies are green and glowing, Where my heart is, where my heart is, Where the scented lunar flower is blooming: Somewhere, beyond the stars... Beyond Antares. There waits my love, a-sleeping, Where my heart is, where my heart is, Where the great blue crane its watch is keeping, Somewhere, beyond the stars... Beyond Antares. I'll be back, though it takes forever. Forever is just a day. Forever is just another journey. Tomorrow a stop along the way. 26. Then list at least one that is not man made or natural? They as a whole person can no longer hear.... They no longer have biological legs....as a whole person You know and recognize that you have contradicted yourself and straddle both sides of argument..... Yet you pretend as if you haven't .....that is dishonest Which part is unrestricted? To my understanding Liberty is Socio-political freedoms with the confines of a society And like Freedoms they are degrees to Liberty They are both Constraints They limitations and restrictions are many .....available does not mean accessible.. Can they drive....are they healthy enough to taste the flavor.... Does the car work or have gasoline in it In some societies at certain times some flavors were restricted etc Most people are not healthy.... here are a list of restriction many have to vary degrees Breathing ....asthma or covid - some of us can't breathe water while others can't breathe air Thinking....possession by hypnosis parasites or spirits or if you not aware of something you can't think about while others cannot control their thinking. Moving...Range of motion Libery is Socio-political. We already agree that they are Natural Physical Restrictions and Man/Beast restrictions..... Who or what else is imposing restrictions on our freedoms? Then will all restricted to varying degrees of freedom. And I show where they failed your zero-sum definition Closer... Divine forces are Natural....we have already agreed that that Nature is a natural limiting factors. Can you have an OBE at will and remember the details.....or have volitional control - these freedoms are also in degrees. So we agree on the above.... What is there that limits our freedom if not man beast or nature? That you for making my point yet again.....your birds have degrees of freedom Doesn't fit your quote below:- "Freedom is simply the state of being free. It's not a measurement or level of HOW free somebody is. Again, there are no limitations to actual freedom." Does not comport with your earlier assertions;- "That's because it's a zero sum status. Either you're free or you're not. There is no "degree" or "amount" of freedom that can be negotiated or restricted." Exactly what I have said from the very beginning of this line of reasoning.....we all have degrees of freedom. One could chain their wings down stop wire their beaks shut and restrict their breathing with bronchial infections. in your definition it is a all or nothing zero sum game: There is no such thing as "limited freedom". That's an oxymoron. If it's limited, it's not free. You have already ceded that man beast and nature can and do restrict your wild birds.... What frees them from these restrictions? Why not they are restriction and limitations? Are you saying they are not restrictions? Machines are man made.... So who or what is imposing if not Man Nature or Beast? Boundaries are Limitations..... Where are the Boundaries of Nature? ?You mean Those that are Limited.....within the boundaries of NATURE. To continue on this line of reasoning.....then it is best you start a new thread.

  28. frankster Interesting definition. My definition of Liberty is the state of having few restrictions. The fewer the restrictions....the more the Liberty. So while I don't believe in "degrees of freedom", by that definition there can indeed be DEGREES OF LIBERTY. Perhaps it is the detailed expression of ideas and their proper articulation rather than making broad sweeping generalizations and holding extreme beliefs.....that you are CONFUSING with "ambiguity" "switching up" and "dishonesty". A fool will look at a Mayor, a Governor, and a President each occupying positions in Executive Office, and say: "Ok, so which one is in charge? I thought the President held the executive office, but now they're saying the Mayor holds the executive office. And the other day on television somebody said they were running for the executive office of Governor! Somebody is lying to us. Somebody is being dishonest. They are trying to switch it up and confuse us. Everybody can't hold the same office!" It's not that people are lying or being dishonest; it's that he doesn't have the intellect to understand the complexities of the U.S. political system....lol. Instead of trying to engage in intelligent discussions above his grade, his ass needs to be slinging a rag at a carwash somewhere....lol. My point? The confusion that one may call "dishonesty" or "switching up" only ends when you are intelligent and analytical enough in thought to understand the ideas being presented to you. At that point...it no longer confuses you or seems like deception and dishonesty because it makes sense to you now. 🌤️ ......if you ever reach that point, lol.
