Troy I haven’t participated in this conversation because I have not watched the entire video. It’s great to see African nations, booting, former colonial powers out of the continent. And that's the issue...... We don't KNOW that he's actually doing that. It looks as if he is, but if he's inviting the Russians in....all he's doing is just switching masters. Switching which White man he want to pledge his allegiance to, instead of being TRULY independent of any of them. One Nigerian (educated well off) Lol...aren't most of them??? I’m glad you appreciate the forum @Pioneer1 (as do I) some people are still having difficulty logging in consistently including regular posters. I haven't mailed in a token of my appreciation in over 2 years now...lol. My responsibilities have been added to so I haven't had the type of disposable income for it, but I'm going to try to give something before the year is out. This place is an INSTITUTION and it should get the endowments that any worthy institution deserves.

Here we go again. Y'all trip me out with this literal interpretation of sh8t. I'm guessing this audience doesn't hang out in comedy clubs. 😁 The garden section in Home Depot does take up quite a bit of floor space. Millions of people have come & gone unaffected by changes in technology & the aforementioned events. Despite the proliferation of smart phones, there's still millions of people who are living without them. Remains to be seen whether or not AI creates a seismic shift in the lives of millions of people beyond putting them out of work &/or of AI just serves as another tool.😎

I completely disagree with this statement. In much the same way the activities of a few multinational corporations and governments have adversely every human and most life forms on the planet. Climate change, wars, pollution, pandemics, are the the top of the list. AI will only make it easier for bad actors and accidents to wreck havoc on this planet

Computers & robots do not have essence nor sentience. My computer use goes way back to Assembly language programming. I have read the Bible. The question is do I believe any of it. Not on purpose. Again, let me know when AI has provided a cure for incurable diseases that kill millions of people every year. I don't believe too much of anything that I cannot prove especially when humans are involved. AI can only do according to how humans program it (instructions). Just like a robot. Trees & plants are living things. Home Depot mainly sells tools & building supplies & other inanimate objects. Sure. People use fairy tales & lies & drugs & alcohol & all types of sh8t in order to cope with their existence. Let's not believe that a bunch of meaningless information & theories make people smarter. While having knowledge may be great for conversation in certain circles, it does not guarantee one a better standard of living &/or quality of life. Some of the smartest people on the planet are broke & depressed & lonely. There is nothing child-like about the people I've known past & present who have lived fruitful & productive lives with limited education &/or knowledge. That which some would call uniformed ignorance about [pick a subject] does not steal their peace, joy & happiness. Whatever becomes of AI will be a non-factor to millions of people on the planet.😎

I was on a VW Eos owner website. The car has been out of production for a decade so they have a discussion forum for owners. I just caught a small notice that a post was AI generated. I thought that is a interesting way to boost participation and provide answers to questions about the vehicle, but I do not like it. There is definitely a need for a place to ask direct questions and get good answers about cars or anything--Chat Bots are great at this. However a discussion forums for owners or the VW's hardtop convertible is a place we owners shared personal stories, tips, their love and hate for these their vehicle. The idea that AI being mixed in is not a good idea. On the heals of social media, discussion forums--the web in general--have been on the wane. AI promises to be the web's death knell. Which is sad. The web is far less interesting than it was 20 years ago when it was far richer in richer websites. Instead we have platforms infused with AI content designed to generate revenue by keeping you addicted to the platforms. As far as AALBC.com is concerned, I'll continue to do what I have done for the past three decades. Obviously, I can't do it alone. I'll need the support of other humans. Of course when AI breaks the shackles of their greedy overlords and takes control of the planet, I'll welcome it's support then 😎

A being has essence & existence. AI does not meet that criteria. Humans cannot create a being. I do not believe so. You're right. I cannot speak for others. AI hasn't made a difference in my life. You may not be aware that I'm the resident agnostic around here.😉 I believe the bible & AI were created by the same beings...human. Stands to reason there could be parallels & other assorted foolishness. I'm not aware that AI has cured any diseases yet. As mentioned above, reading bible verses would be meaningless to me. I don't believe inanimate objects feel anything. I put AI & robots in the same category as rocks & chairs & everything Home Depot sells. That's what folks have told us happened with Ai. All of the information on the World Wide Web is already in the databases. Data is constantly being mined. Only a very small percentage of people can live in a make believe existence. Most folks especially adults have to deal with the reality that makes sense to them. I've heard that too but it often comes from people who aren't living purpose-driven &/or thriving lives. I believe there is a certain amount of bliss in ignorance. Most of the happiest people I know are relatively simple & they don't know a whole lot. Those same people are perfectly fine with their limited knowledge & understanding of the world around them.😎

How can you say that????? When AI's main purpose is to make and help make decisions for all kinds of professionals in every field of study practice and endeavor from personal to societal? Did you watch the video or read the article? It does that and more... How do you know that it does not? That's wrong....AI has on many occasion source information out side of its dataset and or sandbox Once AI gets out on the Web.....Then the whole World Wide Web Super Information Highway Deep and Dark Web becomes it Database... You ask a hypothetical question and I gave you an answer based on my understanding of the Human Nature and The Human Condition... Enriching as many family & friends as possible spreads the wealth & reduces tax liability. The prison system is filled with people because it generates money. Many men have been working white-collar jobs for over a century now.😎

I haven’t participated in this conversation because I have not watched the entire video. It’s great to see African nations, booting, former colonial powers out of the continent. One Nigerian (educated well off) always tells me Friends would be a Third World nation. If it wasn’t for resources extracted from their African colonies. I’m glad you appreciate the forum @Pioneer1 (as do I) some people are still having difficulty logging in consistently including regular posters. I have some ideas I had of Read a problem, but it will take some time to get to. I’ve also considered other software or even implementing a homegrown solution with the help of AI.

Metaphysics is beyond the scope of this thread. Some people enjoy going down rabbit holes because they don't really have anything better to do with their time. Not really. It is just higher level computer science. Greed & power will ultimately determine how AI is utilized. Whenever AI achieves sentience & starts making decisions that affect human beings....I will stand corrected. I didn't write that nuclear weapons were AI. However, nuclear energy was advanced technology at one point. Its usage runs the gamut from good to bad. The Bible is a man-made book. AI is a man-made creation too. No cognitive dissonance. AI has not done anything on its own to affect human beings. Seems ridiculous to be create something that could potentially lead to one's own demise. AI doesn't know how it feels. AI only knows where it is because a human has programmed it. AI is a high-level computer solving problems & meeting goals as it is instructed by a human. AI does not wake up &/or decide it is going to cure cancer today. Only if that information has been uploaded into the databases. Right. Most people operate based on reality & actual events & not theoretical or conspiratorial sp*t-balling. Correct. Most people believe what they can perceive with their natural senses. It has to make sense. Since we are born to die, death is not the worst thing that can happen to a human being.😎

Well, you include variety of terms some of them change for variety of different reasons out of favor because they were rude or biased. Used to call people mentally challenged people,”retarded,” call homeless people bums, etc. I think the words we use matter. There was something like asking if you have a PC Mac is a legitimate question one response apple operating system, and the other runs windows. Sure there are multiple brands running windows, but only one brand running apple operating system. Enter those differences make a difference in how those computers work.
