    Preserving Our Memories
    for the Future

A Webinar with the South Side Home Movie Project
+ Orientation to New Online Tagging Tools

Hosted by the Chicago Public Library
    6:30pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2023

Home movies capture a range of details about everyday neighborhood life in Chicago, from fashion to food to how people walk down the street. During moments of social change, they also show historic events from a unique perspective, revealing what it was like to watch Myrlie Evers receive a posthumous award for her husband Medgar in Grant Park in 1963, or to visit the Lorraine Motel with your family in 1969.

The South Side Home Movie Project has been collecting and preserving home movies from Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods since 2005, and now holds over 700 of these rare glimpses of South Side life in their local film archive. For Black History Month, join the SSHMP team In partnership with Chicago Public Library for a virtual guided tour of the project, an opportunity to watch home movie clips from the 1920s-1980s, and a chance to learn about preserving and sharing your own family films.

SPECIAL NOTE: This session will also debut SSHMP’s new Community Tagging Tools, which let you add your own memories to the home movie database and identify the people, places and events you recognize. For the first time, Chicagoans from across the city are invited to try out this custom crowd-sourcing interface so that your stories become part of SSHMP’s virtual archive. Join us for a live demonstration and hands-on orientation to this new way to contribute your memories to Chicago’s history..

    How to Attend
This event takes place on Zoom; register by 3:00 pm today, 2/22/23. Only one registration per household is needed. You’ll receive an email link to the secure Zoom link before the event. Automatic transcription is included in all CPL events using Zoom.

  4. Why are fully vaccinated people testing positive for Covid?
That question is the problem. I think the greatest enemy in the sars-cov-2 cultural wars is modern media. Modern media is not designed to inform. It is designed to advertise. A friend of mine showed me a cartoon shown to children about the sars-cov-2 virus. The sars-cov-2 virus is not a monster with mashing teeth. It is not the bad guy. Viruses are apart of life on earth. Yes, they have negatively influenced many species and yet, rarely have they eliminated any. I do not have proof but I bet the human species has been more detrimental to life on earth to all life on earth than the entire family of viruses. Ask the creatures in the oceans by human waste or hunting. Ask the spirit of the many deleted human communities or non human life on land or can fly, by human means.
    What are the truths?
    • The point of a vaccine is to help, it is not to guarantee, it is not to defy illness or death.
    • Every single vaccination effort in humanity was never administered to over 50% of humanity in completion or under a government.
    • Handling the death of loving ones is not served attacking others by suggesting a false claim of responsibility. Your loved ones didn't die because of anyone else, being vaccinated or unvaccinated. They died cause they were not strong enough. Many human beings in modernity have a hard time accepting what is daily comprehended in the wild. Death has no masters and one must treasure the moments cause they may never come again
    • Humanity survived most of its many viral intakes incontinentally or intercontinentally absent vaccines, but nearly all had an extremely negative effect on finance on communities on governments. The virus or vaccine or the vaccinated are not why governments/financials/communities are in upheavel, The reason is human dysfunction compiled over a lot longer time.

  7. Movies That Move We review US 2019

    My THoughts
    like the montage of reviews
2:10 so many black female writers enjoy PEele's style. I do to but many black female writers tend to start off saying that.
5:40 exactly, I wonder if a 1960s hippie's old plan written on home made paper somewhere wasn't what hands across america stemmed from
    7:50 spider grandmother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_Grandmother
11:36 yes, anansi, the story teller, remember anansi has a caribbean version , same name, different stories
13:09 random thought, was the homeless guy taken to a hospital carrying the sign some sort of guard for the doppels/tethers?

Questions how we respond to those who have less than us? What would you do if you came face to face with your darker side?

Your questions are strong. Collective reply as opposed to individual reply. In the film US, the tether abigail answers the question to individual reply by exchanging places. but the originally untethered abigail, replied to her individual revenge with a collective reply, leading all the tethers. and oddly enough, in the end, both abigails got what they wanted, in the end, the collective reply of the originally untethered abigal with hands across america happened with her side her household all killed while the tethered got her replacement life with only her male son, the "mulatto" knowing the truth about her. and her whole household lives. The power of nature here is underrated. I even argue an element of "The man who fell to earth" is used very well in this film's premise. In a man who fell to earth, the government keeps the "alien" man in a base but over time the base is forgotten. How isn't fully explained but whatever happened, the people in government who knew about this or kept it organized died or forgot or moved on, so the installation ran on autopilot, and became decrepit. like the tether's world, its sitting there. Whomever in government was supposed to manage them, stopped or moved on or died or something, where they still get electricity, but their existence is uncared for. And I like that theme of whatever the government was planning couldn't survive nature. But to your first question, to whether people have more or less, whether we want freedom or revenge, we can respond as part of a group or individually. But nature does have influence over things, At the end the tricked abigail was still naive when she was originally tricked and the tethered abigal is still dangerous when she originally forced a switch. Their varying sense of individualism or community didn't change. The tricked abigal, felt the tethered abigail in the first place, she was always communal. the tethered abigail was always an individual, never once interested in helping another tethered escape. So no matter how you respond to another, you will always be yourself eventually.

Well, I will answer, what will I do if I come into contact with one of my infinite other sides? There is a version of me that is more positive than me. and thus, I am the more negative to that version. to answer the question. I don't know. Good question. the engineer in me wants to ask, how did we even meet in the first place. Nature has rules. how are we meeting is my first question, not necessarily how we will get along. But I will say this. The key to coexisting side another interpretation of you, is to be anti christian. I will explain. If you look at zoarasters-ancient kemet-aztec mythology-taoism, most spiritual belief systems accept that nature is not good or bad but all things. But the christian belief system is starkly variant. the christian tradition says god is good, thus that which is not good is not of the essence of life. If you see a version of you doing negative things that you wouldn't do, if you have in your mind the idea that to do negative things is against nature, then you will imply that the other you is unnatural and thus communication problems, coexistence problems.

Rakuten Kobo expands digital reading offering in the US and UK with Kobo Plus, the all-you-can-read and listen subscription

TORONTO  April 5, 2023 – Leading digital reading retailer and publisher Rakuten Kobo announces the US and UK launches of Kobo Plus, the all-you-can-enjoy subscription offering booklovers unlimited access to over 1.3 million eBooks and over 100,000 audiobooks for a low monthly fee.

“At Kobo, we’re always working to make the reading experience better and more accessible. Our goal is to be delighting readers – with our best-in-class eReaders, top-rated Kobo app, unmatched digital catalogue or curated book recommendations – but there’s nothing as gratifying as saying ‘read as much as you want for a set monthly fee,’ which is exactly what our Kobo Plus subscription offers,” said Bart Robers, Director, Audiobooks and Global Subscriptions, Rakuten Kobo.

“Kobo Plus has become one of our most popular offerings in the Netherlands, Canada, Portugal, Australia, Italy and France, and it’s our pleasure and privilege to be expanding the subscription service in the US and UK, so that readers can enjoy reading and listening without boundaries.”

US and UK booklovers can access Kobo Plus via the Kobo Books App for iOS or Android and directly on Kobo eReaders to begin discovering new authors and genres. The Kobo Plus eBook and audiobook collection features a breadth of stories, including:

    • Contemporary fiction by beloved authors including Ian McEwan, Elena Ferrante and Alice Hoffman
    • Renowned literary works from Philip Roth, Jim Harrison, V.S. Naipaul, Aldous Huxley and William S. Burroughs
    • Contemporary sci-fi and fantasy by Anne McCaffrey, Cory Doctorow, and Jeff VanderMeer
    • Classic mysteries from M.C. Beaton, Patricia Highsmith, and Elizabeth Peters
    • Romance by Barbara Freethy and Beverly Lewis

The Kobo Plus catalogue is ever-growing, with more titles being added to the collection each month. The service has three budget-friendly subscription plan offers:

    • Kobo Plus Read: Unlimited eBooks for $7.99 USD or €9,99 GBP per month
    • Kobo Plus Listen: Unlimited audiobooks for $7.99 USD or €9,99 GBP per month
    • Kobo Plus Read and Listen: Unlimited eBooks and audiobooks for $9.99 USD or €12,99 GBP per month

The Kobo Plus subscription is an ideal way to approach a bucket list of literary classics, an entire author's catalogue, or to dive into a new field of interest. With unlimited reading for one low monthly fee, the subscription lets readers sample a few pages from a genre or author they have never read, and move on to another book guilt-free if it's not to their taste. It’s an ideal option for avid booklovers who can tear through several books a month, and for those who prefer to read a few chapters before committing. There’s never been a better time to discover new authors and series on a Kobo eReader or with the free Kobo reading app.

    Kobo Plus FAQ

How do authors get paid for Kobo Plus?

Why do Kobo Plus reads get paid per minute instead of by pages read?

We have updated our eBooks subscription service to be more fair and balanced for authors across the board. Now, authors will be paid for every minute read, including re-reads, and even if a reader reads less than 10% of the book.

How does the free trial for Kobo Plus work?

Gaining new audiences for our self-published authors is a key goal for us, and offering free trials of our Kobo Plus subscription is a great way to showcase our offering, including your books, to new and existing booklovers. We liken this to offering a first in series free, or other types of promotions for your titles, and these terms are the same for both traditional publishers and self-published authors. Our goal is to continue building excitement for the service in order to gain reading momentum for your books, while concurrently gaining new audiences.

We truly believe that this exposure will benefit you, however it is always your choice, and if you are uncomfortable with the free trial period, we have made it easy for you to opt out of whichever territory you choose.

Will Kobo Plus affect my a la carte sales?

For authors with books opted into Kobo Plus, their a la carte sales have remained steady (and for some, have increased); what’s more Kobo Plus reads have generated additional income on top of those strong a la carte sales. We see Kobo Plus reads complementing a la carte sales, not replacing them.

The second trend we have noticed is that Kobo Plus tends to give backlist titles a boost. When we look at sales of books published before 2016, we see a significant increase in income generated by Kobo Plus reads for books opted into the catalogue.

We will be closely watching sales patterns, and are confident that we will see a similar increase in overall sales.

What if I want to opt out of Kobo Plus?

We want you to feel good about what you create and how you are compensated. These are your books and your business, and it’s important that you have autonomy over how you sell your intellectual property. If subscription models aren’t for you, it is easy to opt out of Kobo Plus, or out of specific territories in which Kobo Plus operates. Opting out will in no way impede readers from buying your books a la carte. The idea behind our eBook subscription is to reach new audiences, not to take away from your existing readership--in the end, it is whatever you choose and think is best for your content.

We decided to offer this option based on customer feedback asking for an all-you-can-read eBook service; this is in line with much of today’s  digital content consumption, which gravitates toward subscription models. Our experience in other markets shows we are able to attract new readers to digital reading who had never bought eBooks before, which is the case for Kobo Plus subscribers in the Netherlands. We’re aiming to grow the total earnings for authors and publishers, and our data shows that Kobo Plus can help achieve this goal.

    Top 50 Hidden Gems

The Hidden Gems list excludes Big Five publishers, as well as other publishers of significant size (for example, Norton and Scholastic). For October 2023, we’ve excluded test prep guides (such as those from Kaplan), atlases from Rand McNally, National Geographic, the Bible, and blockbuster cartoon compilations from Andrews McMeel (Calvin & Hobbes). We let you know every month what we’ve excluded, or how we’ve changed list compilation.

In cases where the publisher name matches the author name, the book is listed as self-published. Keep in mind that even if a publisher name is listed, it might be self-published. A good example is Keila Shaheen, who has self-published The Shadow Work Journal, but the 2nd edition was released under the name of her business, Zenfulnote.

Update (11/28): A book published by a Penguin Random House imprint, Roc Lit 101, snuck through. It was removed, making room for the last title on this list (#50).

Update (11/29): Rodale is now owned by Penguin Random House, so two of their titles have been removed and two additional titles added to the end.

  10. Original comment

Pioneer1 after reading greg's comment, it seems his solution is in two parts: 1 every black woman must be married 2 every black man must be a loving financially able partner.

    The problem is, the assumptions.

    1. that a fiscally poor or unemployed child or adult from a happy home or part of a happy home will not roam the streets or commit illegalities or commit crimes for profit.

    2. that unmarried parents are by default bad parents. That is another false assumption.

    IN AMENDMENT

In my view, he offers solutions he thinks will work but they are flawed for the scope of the problems is beyond the solutions he offers.

PEople forget many black people or people in the usa in general moonshined, not because they came from broken homes or bad homes or unpleasant homes but for money. Black people from blues players to migrant farmers , didn't try hustles, try illegalities or crimes cause of some learned home traits. this was their financial reality coming to bear. HAttie mcdaniel didn't want to be a maid in real life. many black people who don't want jobs that are to be blunt, going no where, but don't have a legal financial path use others, and in the world of illegality is always crime.

And I know everyone knows the following or before, but I must say, people forget, the concept behind social welfare programs isn't to be a constant. The idea behind them is that the private will financially grow in time and absorb people in the welfare state. I think many people in the world forget the point of the welfare state isn't to be a constant in a person's life but to be a pillow on the way down so one doesn't commit illegalities in fiscal desperation but also can wait for the private sector to get better. The problem is, all industries or firms have ups and down and some of them have deep downs where they are not recovering. The problem in the usa from a labor perspective is simple, the usa has been losing favorable pay jobs for decades and hasn't replaced them. Yes, tech jobs exist but tech jobs will never replace what the automotive industry was able to provide before its heavy mechanization. Tech jobs will never replace what the farming industry before its heavy mechanization was able to provide. Tech in the usa has made human labor not as needed, and thus fewer jobs. Thus the welfare programs role as a buffer to extreme poverty has been vital to the usa in all earnest. I add to the western european governments as well. I hear trucking is getting its turn. that is millions of truckers in humanity are about to join the millions of former farmers/auto workers. It isn't that the welfare state is negative, it is that , it is needed. but the private sector has to bring the workers back in.

  11.

    MY COMMENTS

The reason why black people in the usa are unable to act as whites is because of white people, this is a historic as well as modern fact, so joining white organizations in the usa which is dominated throughout its entire history by whites,  is a double hindrance.

@Stefan thank you for your reply, my only addition is the notion has been around since circa 1865 but White financed Black Leaders , to be blunt, opposed it functionally.

Sequentially, a black party of governance will have to oppose Black leadership in nearly all sectors. NEarly all black elected officials in the USA will oppose it. NEarly all black fiscally wealthy will oppose it.

I think we all know a Black party of governance hasn't been tried with vigor cause it represents a challenge for most Black people who are deemed successful in the usa.

To your points about finance or agenda, both will be interesting challenges.

@Stefan not a fantasy , but a difficulty, nothing is impossible, but the question is, how many black people are willing to do whatever it takes.

How many Black people circa 1865 were willing to kill black people who didn't vote for a black party? Is it right or wrong, I don't know about that. Is it difficult, 100%. Circa 1865 these are death by the hands. But,  In the war between the states, many white families hurt their own household members. Whites were willing to kill each other for an agenda. Was it right or wrong?  I don't know. Was it difficult? 100%

Historically, your very correct. From the infancy of the usa the Black community has disagreed on what tomorrow needs to be, when one section of free black people fought for england, aside the other section of free black people who fought for the colonies, aside the final section of black people who were completely enslaved and is the largest group. All three groups wanted freedom.

The enslaved blacks, 90% of us:) , didn't want the colonies of england to win, they didn't want the english crown to win,  they wanted to kill or somebody to kill that white master and all other whites around them and flee far enough to be away from whites forever.

The blacks who fought for the usa, wanted the colonies to win, figuring the whites they fought next too would invalidate slavery. Sadly for them, benjamin franklin and company re-enslaved most of them.

The blacks who fought for england , wanted the english crown to win, figuring the whites they fought next too would invalidate slavery. In defense of the british, they did give their loyalist freedom, hard freedom, bootless freedom, but freedom,

So, your point is correct, but the problem is greater than acknowledgement. It is that from circa 1865 Black leaders in the church and elected made individual accountability the majority accepted opinion on how to accomplish, one black person at a time as citizens of the USA.

The advantages of individual accountability by Black people in the USA is: nonviolence thus whites can't use simple legal means to harm  or blackade or ostracize, less to no communal activity thus whites can't use black communal activity to spur on their communal activity which is better financed, freedom for blacks to act anywhere in the usa thus black people can be president of the usa or ceo's of whites firms or in the various occupations or places or positions in the usa that don't benefit black people in a direct way but can benefit a black person alone, Black individuals are free to be themselves thus a Black person can harm other black people and it is not up to the community to erase that individual but it is up to other black individuals to decide how they want to relate to that person.

The disadvantages are many, but the most potent is lack of speed. It moves to slow and thus, while trickles of black people slowly become better from 1865 to today, the majority of black people are unable as individuals to succeed. Thus it means, the black community in the usa, with the current plan started in 1865 by black leadership will take a very very long time to reach a place where a majority of black people will be positive.

@ProfD @Stefan any ideas on an agenda? I concur that a Black party of governance needs to have an agenda first.

@Stefan great link, I still wonder what you think , but thank you. I can't imagine you don't think anything.

@ProfD the following link will take you to an article where you will note many ukranians dissenting. If anything your prose prove that black people take too much stock in how white owned media presents us. Black people in the usa don't own white owned media but live in a white country.

    https://aalbc.com/tc/profile/6477-richardmurray/?status=1883&type=status

@Troy I will be blunt, many a black person I know older than you or me by distance said the same thing about their time when our age, referencing a book written by a black person. .... What do you want Troy for the Black community in the USA? Do you want Black owned book publishing firms to dominate the market? what goal do you want for the black community in the USA?

@ProfDI want to amend your statement, not just russian counterparts their russian kin/family/clan. That article's primary point , in my view, is the lack of comprehension or media admittance on the relationship between ukraine side russia.

I bet most ukranians have russian ancestry. You think so professor? I think so. This russian/ukranian war is a intra-clan war. That is being sold as two separate peoples, by the usa goverment who has an agenda to offer other news than the fiscal downturns or virus and wants to push the european union into something.

of course, most people from the USA who didn't fight in the vietnam war, living in canada or somewhere outside the usa, who are alive still feel a similar guilt or shame to ukranians who have not fought in the russian ukranian war. Same to whites who didn't fight in the war between the states, based on what was spoken through transcription in my memory.  Humanity loves to make men feel bad when they don't fight in wars, as if wars are ever as straight or simple as advertised. They never are.

In my view, the russian ukranian was is inevitable or necessary. I will defend my position professor, with the following, i wonder how my defense holds up.

1st. the russian government was already installed in two regions in ukraine that the current ukranian government never officially accepted. The eastern border provinces of ukraine that border russia, I think called the donks. And Crimea was under russian suzerainty, like guantanemo is to the usa. So, the russian government saw a need to control crimea which is the biggest seaport in the region and support plus liberate the donks, which is the pro russian , east section of ukraine. Based on the western kiev based ukranina reply to current events, russia acted in fair necessity.

2nd. The ukranian goverment before the current was pro russian and the usa side other western european countries, manipulated things in ukraine to overtunr said government. Thus, the usa meddled in ukraine to place a pro usa government. But the pro usa government in ukraine didn't seem to realize that all their neighbors had a military alliance but them. bellarus has a military alliance with russia, poland and west of ukraine are all in nato for the most part. so...the ukrainian government foolishly thought it could evade being a proper neutral country while not joining a military alliance. they performed a dangerous dance between two powers and any time a government does that they make war in their land inevitable.

@Stefan for the record, the black party of governance in the usa isn't my agenda. I want to see it, I advocate for it, but on a simple grounds, it has never been done.

Black people starting business, supporting black businesses, going to college, having educational pushes gardless of college in the usa have been done multiple times ias collective pushes in the black community in the usa. But the black community in the usa has never , ever , had a black party of governance. I advocate doing new things when you have tried the same old things multiple times.

Black people i know in south africa, tell me about, voting, and I inform them. over 95% of black people voted for mandela and company, and in the first eight years, over 90% of black people participated in voting. The fact that the percentage of black vote is lower now can't be blamed on black voters when in my lifetime black people voted over 90% in south africa. I tell them, do new things, forget about black parties of governance, ala ANC forget them.

To the usa, I have never been a member of the donkeys or the elephants and I have no intention of joining a black party of governance in the usa , but I know it is something that hasn't been done and so instead of hearing ten more years of black people complain about the party of andrew jackson or abaraham lincoln, i advocate those complainers making a new party.

You know the forums in this community, you read the comments, this forum is full of black folk, at the least people I think are black,  complaining  about the two parties, so leave both of them and start a new one.

To your point about soliciting information from others , fair enough

@Troy   for men of the sun, that may be the hardest achievement for our rocks to make

as you said, the individualism has to go... the day most black individuals have an idea of where they want the black community to go, will be the day , communalism is stronger in the black community

@ProfD is power for nothing? is the path made from power unnecessary? I argue the history of the USA , at the least the white european people in it, proves using violence/war/getting the death of millions/being barbaric/having greed is for everything, not for nothing. Without said negativities the white european community in the usa has little to nothing of what they have, thus said negativities are the most necessary to those who have the most. If anything, the questions are, what value is peace? is peace for nothing?  Is peace unnecessary? Are native americans living peacefully in the USA necessary to native american betterment , growth? What has living peacefully brought the native american?

I think whites know history very well, and they know that those who are in control have the forebears who acted negatively without shame, for they comprehended their descendants will be better off inheriting more, by any means, not less.

well said @ProfD and fair enough

@Stefan @ProfDI  concur that all humans beings can do negative or positive things, the words sin/evil/good/wicked  I don't know about all that.

People do negative things for reasons.

Rwanda or Tigray didn't happen cause of evil or wickendess or badness, they were inevitable because of the situation that two groups of people were set up in. Again, I can take White european examples, to show it isn't about Black people, it is a merely human thing. Ireland was dominated by the english for thousands of years and with all the miscegenation, intermarrying, in the end, the irish still wanted freedom from the english. the tigray/ oromo/eritreans/the falasha have been fighting each other since ancient times. And they never had a set of leaders at the same time who wanted a peaceful union. The tutsi and hutu before the english got to tanganyika were not one people and battled each other. the british got their and they still didn't like each other. The british made rwanda, and absent leaders who wanted to merge, they eventually had it out. The Black community in the USA has over 150 years of a majority of its leaders, dysfunctionally or functionally, stating they peacefully or positively embrace whites. Not all leaders, but most. That is how you get multiracial peace.

And that is why Black folks argue over this issue Stefan. The question is what do you want the Black community to be tomorrow. The white community is still battling over what they want the white community in the usa to be or the usa itself to be. For any group to improve they need consensus, but consensus can be hard to achieve without violence. Cause with violence, you can kill the people in the group who aren't in consensus and thus consensus is reached. Is it a sin or evil? I don't know, but I know it is very functional. Can every community do it? clearly not, but absent consensus in a group , what canany group positively  change for itself?

  12.

    CONTENT OF COMMENT

I can not tell you how many writing groups I have been part of where the following came up side my fellow crafters of words. Even as a child.

But here we go again. Websters is wrong.  PEople are misusing the word, it is that simple. And I go one further. Webster's and many dictionaries in all earnest puts too much weight on figurative evaluations in words. I don't care if 99 percent of people use a word a certain way. 99% are simply using it wrongly.

Racism/Bias/Prejudice are not as defined in websters.

And I will use the definition you gave to support my point.

    You said

      Quote

1 : a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
    From Merriam Webster:

also : behavior or attitudes that reflect and foster this belief : racial discrimination or prejudice

First, a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits.

well how does your websters define race

      Quote

any one of the groups that humans are often divided into based on physical traits regarded as common among people of shared ancestry

That isn't race:) Troy, that isn't race. Race isn't a divider of humanity. Race isn't bounded to physical traits. Race is any classification scheme that can be applied on humanity by humans.

Me , you, Schtrumpf, Nahomie Osaka are human beings, children of earth. That is the shared ancestry.  The fact that three of us are male and one is female. Three of us are black and one is white. One has recent asian lineage and three don't. One speaks japanese , three don't. All speak english.  These are not dividers, it is merely a classification scheme.

So websters definition of race is false. Which makes sense cause their definition of racism is false.

What divides human beings are rules or policies, not racism. The train track didn't divide towns because black people side non blacks don't share the same shades of skin. Non blacks power+ policies made the train track divide, and it was the bias in their use of power or creation of policies, not racism.

No point in going further because the primary explanation to the word is false by webster.

A classification scheme isn't even a belief. it is a tool.  But when webster placed race as webster defines it their definition is totally flawed.

Race is a classification scheme applied on any grouping.

When humans say, lions and tigers are cats that is racism.

Racism is actions to define race.

When humans make a book describing cats that is racism.

Bias is making an opinion on a race

When humans say black cats are evil, that is bias.

When humans say the pig can not be eaten, that is bias

When humans say the cow can not be eaten, that is bias

humans calling another human black is racism.

humans calling another human stupid cause their black is bias

humans calling another human woman is racism

humans calling another human foolish cause their woman is bias

humans calling another human old is racism

humans calling another human weak cause their old is bias

humans calling another human christian is racism

humans calling another human fanatics cause their christian is bias

Now, having preached , I apologize again, I already know most folk don't use the words the way I do. I know. And I know you troy or others will continue to use words as you have. I comprehend 100%. But your wrong. that is what I will conclude on. it is that simple. Use words better, trust me, it matters.

  13.

    My reply

I will answer the  question , how will Sudan get better?

Elsewhere in this forum I asked about leadership in the black community in the  usa, what type of leadership is majority in the black community  in the usa and I realize the importance of starting there. Why? How any human groups leaders want to lead is what has to be improved. The people who aren't leading are all talk. The people who are , no matter their quality or style, are key. Cause all people's need leadership. Simply because you need someone or some group to take an idea and push it through all the individual desires in the larger group.

What is the majority black leadership in the Black community of sudan?

Generals. Ok. Generals are kings without crowns. Kings are generals with crowns. ok

Generals do not go by rule of law, they go by rule of arms. Fine.

The next question is, where are they failing in their leadership as generals + how can they improve?

Well, I see two big problems for the generals of sudan.

    1) they all seem to want it all but none have the means to get it all. Nothing is wrong with wanting to win all the spaces in the chessboard but you how long do you play stalemate?

    2) none of them have the ability to gain external assistance to win the battle of generals, nor do they have an ally in a nearby general in kemet or aksum, commonly egypt or ethiopia who will aid them.

    How can they improve ?

    1) The simplest but most vital thing is to develop a terms of long lasting peace. I didn't say elected government. The leadership of sudan or anywhere else, doesn't need to change styles but quality. If Rich runs the south east, then its time to make that official. If Troy runs the north east and Chevdove runs the central west it is time to make that official. All were doing is wasting time battling each other when we can't gain ground. None have the means to break the stalemate. So apply the lines on the map. Each general rules in their zone.  And then...

    2) be better generals.

The funny thing about human history is most ideas have been tried, and have examples throughout all humanity of success or failure.

The generals in sudan, you each have an army, but where is your logistical chain, where is your supply chain, what are the defenses to your domain? How is your internal management? What is the quality of your soldiers? what about your training for potential new soldiers ?many questions. I bet if I knew those answers for all the generals in sudan, my grade for the replies will be , poor at best. so each need to make a better army which will improve, infrastructure/schools/health. An army is to kill. But, an army kills better when it is fed better, housed better, clothed better, heals better, learns better.

  14.

First act, a set of educators, i think college are helping a colleague leave but they all have an affinity to this colleague, a curiosity about his nature. I concur with Bixby, real human beings are not alarmist and in this select case, all of these are seasoned educators used to slowly thinking about something, so they wouldn't call the cops or paddy wagon immediately.

Why did I not guess the black leather jacket would call someone from outside first. I thought it would be billingly's character the physics or chemistry professor.

Second act, a female teacher loves him, reminds me of that twilight zone , Long Live Walter JAmeson, by the dead early Charles Beaumont, but extended.

I love Crude demonstration , hilarious, I am not superman. Loving Tony Todd's acting.

    27:34 first seeing the ocean

28:42 he studied with the buddha, and i loved the earlier birth of the vampire myth

29:06 the first betrayal of character, leather jacket should had considered he think of being outed. Considering he called someone he is either biding time or betraying himself.

29:38 ahh well done, he was expecting,

30:31 i wish i had been here from the beginning, I concur:)

32:16 he survived the bubonic plague, typhoid , smallpox

32:53 good point, being immortal in a cage isn't desired

33:33 black leather is wrong, common sense isn't insulted by an immortal being, common sense accepts tthe unique is plausible even if it can't not be explained.

35:19 true Tony todd, but time is also the most precious thing in existence.

35:52 exactly, the second is a human construct. an algorithmic truth, not assessed from nature.

36:27 funny moment. slow movie but for those who like to overthink and like dialog fun

37:21 is he lucky? that is the point of the story

39:41 exactly, he is outside most of humanity yet still human, a minority of one

41:46 I love that he didn't go into his past wives or children by the invasive psychiatrist

42:50 good point, the one great chaotic moment is the "immortal man" chose to even do this. I comprehend the writer's point. It is a random idea in one of many lives. But I must admit, my long lived characters wouldn't do this, unless they wish to be caught or have their cycle of lives undone.

43:07 he didn't think of these people's feelings before he told them ahhh, i disagree bixby.

43:37 the psychiatrist, white haired is trying to pull off a guilt trip, i bet he was diagnosed to die soon

44:50 ahh i knew it was a tragedy, the psychiatrist wife died yesterday
I love it, permit me to be infantile by myself.

46:58 my first wedding :) funny charades

47:54 this movie clearly couldn't make it in theaters.

48:48 love his answer to 1292 ad

50:04 funny, about the primitive tribe in new guinea:)

51:03 the older woman is a hard core christian

51:47 no way skipping the biblical figure, and now he wants to call it a night, this is what you get when you ask those who study knowledge about a person who has lived longer than common

    53:10 he is jesus hahaha!

53:24 sit down edith, i know

54:16 yes, sit down edith, lovely honesity from the biologist about his kin

54:41 tony todd, modern, that's good:)

55:29 ahh he is espousing the old belief that jesus learned buddhist ways. it makes sense historically in one way. Buddhism is older than the roman empire, and from the travelers, who were common at that time, labeled magi, who traveled freely in the roman empire because of the might of the roman empire... ok.

56:41 exactly, Tony Todd, christianity was born from the multiracial roman empire.

58:26 good point, buddha /jesus/the christian god, may not be happy

59:04 you can tell this was written on bixby's deathbed, a great mortuary story. I wonder what I will write in my last moments.

59:35 hhahaha, the psychiatrist came back:) haha soul saved:)

1:00:00 nice bridge, we don't need to reintroduce the old topics for the psychiatrist, his shame on leaving.

1:00:53 great joke, nothing unusual in the path of the psychiatrist until the day he met a caveman who thought himself jesus

1:01:46 piety is the mistake they bring to the lessons haha, he is on a roll, Bixby is enjoying himself in his last days

1:03:10 thank you biologist, people make to light the influence of drugs, no, if he is taking a drug it isn't making him go up or down be violent or peaceful, it isn't changing him at all

1:04:20 thank you tony todd, i don't blame you, stay calm and relax.

1:04:55 exactly, psychiatrist, or the modern mythologies of MLKjr or Adolf Hitler

1:07:42 Its funny , in a group called african american literary book club, do you know how many black members suggest the usa will be forever? why is that? why is it, black people who knows kemet has all other human communities by thousands of years will be bested by the usa? what are blacks in the usa afraid of?....

1:08:20 how do you know?  I don't smell it.
exactly, you know when it will rain , all humans do.

1:09:20 etymology, this does happen. words matter.

1:10:25 good acting, they are all trapped by this story of their colleague

1:11:00 if edith says you aren't jesus one more time

1:11:56 edith have broken down , the psychiatrist had to shed light

1:12:49 the psychiatrist is wrong, he doesn't demand the truth, he demands the lie to keep peace

1:13:44 he is bluffing, well done, he is giving them safety

1:14:22 easy tonny todd:) he want to kill him

1:15:44 it ends safe, well done bixby, he lets the thinkers get off easy

1:16:25 exactly , the woman who lives him is right.

1:17:59 edith knows. she will leave it

1:18:14 Tony Todd, a latitude in what we call reality... anything is possible
I am going to watch star trek. and yes, good move tony todd
    Drop me a line whenever

    1:19:34 the psychiatrist found out
easy psychiatrist , the break down. ahh well done, Bixby, ahh the psychiatrist was a man he knew.

1;21:45 exactly, he never saw his own child again.

    1:22:34 yes, let her decide

hahaha, great hook, who knows, let the viewer decide.

    IN CONCLUSION
Ok, this movie was fun, but not for the general audience. Alittle careless of him, but that is part of John's humanity, humans even long living one's will make mistakes.
I know this is an aside, but i love the credits , they are large enough to see and slow enough to follow, many movies have very uncaring or cheap credits.

I say, this is a well constructed example of someone long lived revealing themselves in a paraspontaneous way.

    Just thoughtfulness.

I didn't time index from the begining cause I was watching it side relatives , we do those things in our home, but I am glad my relatives went to watch other things as I could write more specifically and i forgot some points early on:)

    1. Troy

      Troy

      Wow that was some report.

i just brought a book which included a short story by Bixby

    2. richardmurray

      richardmurray

@Troy thank you, I am used to this, when I read books or listen to music or watch movies I am paying this kind of attention, part of it is how I was raised with art, my two black parents didn't blockade any art from me but also showed interest so it taught me to treat all art that way, while on the other side, as an artists always trying to learn, I want to see if I can decipher messages ideas and how they are executed in the work.

enjoy the book and definitely share your thoughts:)
