  1. Press Release January 16, 2022 The First Annual Read to Lead/Write to Enlight Book Festival at Otterbein University Contact: Melica Niccole For Immediate Release Email: Melica.Niccole@gmail.com The Read to Lead/Write to Enlight initiative is the first annual book festival being held at Otterbein University. It was developed by Melica Niccole as a call to action in which she dares readers to Read to Lead, Write to Enlight and buy books locally from the authors who write them. It is her hope to unite readers with local authors and perhaps a select few authors who reside out of state or the country as well. The festival will take place at The Point at Otterbein University (60 Collegeview Road, Westerville, Ohio) on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1 pm to 4 pm. The event will spotlight 7-10 local authors, which may include 1-3 authors from other states and/or countries. Authors will have the ability to sell their work, talk with attendees, and get the community engaged in reading, writing, and involved in literacy activities. Authors will be provided lunch and one of their books will be purchased to provide as a giveaway to one of the attendees. Attendees will be afforded the opportunity to win one of the free giveaways, such as: a free book, kindle, $25 gift card, or $25 in cash. As a way of giving back to the community, Melica Niccole will also provide a literary organization 10% of the profit received from the event. We are hopeful that this event and gifts will have a great impact on attendees and allow others to share their love of reading and writing with others. # # # If you would like more information about the book festival and how to participate, please visit https://www.melicaniccole.com or eventbrite at Read to Lead/Write to Enlight Book Festival Tickets, Sat, Sep 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM | Eventbrite. 2. In thinking about poetry, we have to pay homage to those before us. Without them, how can we be? This is the very reason I wrote "Respect". "Respect" was published in my fourth book of poetry, Renaissance of the Psyche, in November 2017. I hope this poem inspires and encourages other poets. Respect I have to give respect where respect is due This poetry thing has never been new The greats before us paved the way for us To lyrically flow and make a stand for us We have to pay homage to the present and past Because it’s with past that our presence last See Nikki Giovanni was an active poet Created different platforms for others to show it Sonya Sanchez is world renowned The love of language created beautiful sound Edgar Allan Poe, the father of detective stories The Raven was where he got his glory Maya Angelou said “Still I Rise.” Phenomenal Woman with her Eyes on the Prize William Ernest Henley was a delectable soul Master of his fate and captain of his soul Amiri Baraka fought for the rights of his own Poet, playwright, and very well-known Sam Walter Foss wrote The House by the Side of the Road Listening to that poem will never get old Etheridge Knight did Poems from Prison And this is where his name had risen Gwendolyn Brooks won the Pulitzer Prize highly influential and very wise See these are the greats who we must acknowledge And this right here is why we pay homage
  3. Thank you @Verdelle Lambert. I am glad you liked it.
  4. Meet me at half of pi That’s 1.57079632679 Square units from our starting point It’s half of a moon Half of the distance that it takes For my eyes to encounter yours Half of the time spent letting true love find me When all I had to do was meet true love half way If only Pi would have meant more to me When I was a Geometry test taker With no real equation to apply The rationale of it all Now I sit here Carefully examining the equation D = 2r Which, if calculated correctly Displays the midpoint between you and I If this circle that I speak so highly of Was reshaped with precision and care It would morph into something so beautiful That all those like it could see a heart Now I say with such truth and conviction Meet me at half of pi Today Tomorrow And every day that I breathe this glorious air

  7. Hi everyone! So... I am working on releasing my fourth book of poetry by the end of this year or early next year. This is a poem that I wrote sometime last year. I was all in my feelings about love and how I missed love, but I really didn't know love. I Miss You I miss you And I really don’t even know you My spirit wants to vibe And flow with you Free style together And go toe to toe with you Travel to a distant land And cuddle with you I just want to hold you Our bodies come together And create a mold of you Singing Back to life Soul II Soul with you Bump and Grind R. Kelly with you Ain’t no mountain high Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell with you I want to fly with you Giggle and act shy with you Laugh a thousand laughs with you Sit on the porch and.... Reminisce But, I guess I’m infatuated Elated Vastly gaited Emotions precipitated So let me slow it down and say... Hello... How’s your day... You good... Good bye Check out my other writings here: http://melicaniccolesrealmofcreativity.blogspot.com/

  10. As I got back into my workout regimen last weekend, I was in my feelings about all the things that had taken place lately. I needed an outlet, so I decided to write this poem. Shattered windows. Shattered dreams. Ulterior motives it seems. Pieces of him. Pieces of me. It’s just too bad the blind are the first to see. Legacies undone. A man gone before the sun. Set on his life. Fatherless kids gloom amongst the ranks. Souls torn for they have witnessed the Shawshank before the redemption. It’s sad because some may never get this. The past remain the present with heavily coated makeup. Covering up all the blemishes. Showing the beautiful exterior when it the interior that is “Still under construction.” Keep out and skull bone signs show there is imminent danger, but how can one know when the package has been adorned to protect?
