aka Contrarian Posted April 25 Report Posted April 25 @Troy. I guess my sarcasm was lost on you, I wasn't serious about the gods "singling me out". I was just establishing a lead-in to compare pioneer to an innocuous nuisance gnat who flits around annoying people. Sara was the poster who I would get into it with back in the day, and with good reason. She would come at me and I refused to let her ageist insults go unanswered. The reason you banned her was because she called me a "nigger bitch". Even Mzuri and I clashed because she tried to portray me as a lonely ol "cat lady", and lied about me saying I used to sling bags at the post office, even searching through the archives to back up this claim but couldn't find any proof of her false allegation. All of this was aided and abetted by pioneer, I might add. And of course there was Kola Boof. That's where I got my combat stripes. Those were the good ol days. Actually, we had a love-hate relationship because she was so mercurial. When she found out how old I was she wanted to pay me homage. Even sent me one of her books. I don't even know where to start when it comes to pioneer. Always trying to portray himself as just kiddin' after he does his malicious dirty work, lying and exaggerating and even trying to gaslight me. I have nothing but CONTEMPT for this treacherous pest. 'Have aways found him irritating although he thinks differently because that's not the scenario he creates in his warped little narcissist world. He's really a piece of work. Glad I don't have to be around him. All I'll say in defense of myself is that I don't start stuff. Nor do I back down when I am provoked. Whatever. Let the chips fall where they may. If I die tomorrow, I don't think I'll be missing anything. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

aka Contrarian Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 @ProfDI just saw an interview with Smokey Robinson. He's 85. And quite lucid. About to go on tour. I remember telling someone a couple of year back (maybe I posted it here) that I look better than Denzel Washington. Now that is a purely subjective opinion, but it’s arguable and I don’t have access to all the remediation that rich people do. It seems to me that people do, or can age overnight, but I think in Washington’s case as in most celebrities, we see them in movies in which they were younger and made up to look much better CGI, AI, Photoshop, and then we see them in person or in a current interview and the differences can be stark. have you observed that people age overnight or age gradually was it just a mixed bag?
Pioneer1 Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Troy I'm not sure about "overnight" but it's commonly believed that just one term (4 years) as President of the Unted States ages people by atleast a decade. Look at Bill Clinton, Bush (either one), or Obama BEFORE they become POTUS and afterwards and you'll see far more grey and wrinkles on them than the average person gains in a mere 4 years.

aka Contrarian Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 @TroyI hadn't seen Denzel in a movie in quite a while and when I saw him recently his hair and beard were gray. The popularity of the word "bougie" in our community (or atleast before the 90s...not so much after) has to more to do with the mistake a lot of early Black leaders made aligning themselves with Marxism and it's philosophy thinking it would be some sort of better alternative to capitalism.
aka Contrarian Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Oooooh, puleeze. "Bougie" is short for Bourgeoise", which is the French word for Middleclass. Blacks adopted this shortened term around the late 1970s when they began to graduate colleges and enter professions and own fine homes and fancy cars. Nowadays, it has a somewhat negative connotation, referring to extremely materialistic black folks living high on the hog.

It goes back further than that when a lot of Black leaders in the 30s and 40s studied the philosophies of Communism and the terms "bourgeoise" and "proletariat" were introduced to us. In Marxism the term "Bourgeoise" means more than JUST middle class but UPPER middle class. A more accurate term would be Professional class and Small business owner Just like Proletariat is the working class.....masses. It's not just a term thrown around by young folks in the 70s. When I joked about that show being "Boule Behind The Gates".....how in the hell did you think so many rich niggaz GOT to be Bougie in the first place??? aka Contrarian Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 HoHum. And the slippery eeI rides again. I don't agree with your convoluted subtefuge. The slang term "bougie" is what it is:Pop culture lingo. The sociological concept of the Black Bourgeoise dates back to 1903 and W.E.B. Dubose's Talented Tenth concept and has nothing to do with all the Marxist ideology you cited. Connecting the boule to the Beyond the Gates soap opera is a stretch. Attending boule has no direct connection to being wealthy because you don't have to be rich to become a member of a fraternity or sorority. And why didn't you make all your claims in the first place instead spouting a lot of the "useless information" about some 1990s movement?? Why? Stop thinking you know everything and you MIGHT learn something....even from a "dummy"...lol First of all "bougie" didn't come from the "talented tenth" concept, but the Boule itself did....in part. Second the Boule (which isn't it's official name) is an organization for MEN....not women (who have their own organization). So there are no sororities involved. Maybe if your attitude wasn't so shitty some of your well educated girlfriends might have invited you to some of their parties and shared more information with you about their clubs and organizations....lol For those who really want to know the truth, a lot of it was influenced by the Prince Hall Masons who are an organization of men but also have a counter part for women called Eastern Stars. But these were mostly poor and working class people though, so the wealthy and professional Black folks decided to form their own secret organization along similar lines....one for men and the other for women. That's enough for YOUR brain to handle...lol. That FRACTION of knowledge I just dropped really wasn't for you anyway, but for those who are curious about how much I actually DO know....lol.
aka Contrarian Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 @Pioneer1As usual you invoke your straw man retorts by contradicting what i didn't say. What I did say was, "bougie" is simply pop culture slang. And I did not deny that the boule had a connection with the DuBose talented tenth. What I further pointed out was that just because you are a Greek or belong to the boule doesn't mean you are automatically wealthy so the connection between boule and the well-off family on the Beyond the Gates soap opera wasn't a "given" as you implied. Furthermore, Sororities are members of the Divine Nine so they do have an affiliation with the boule, something you denied. Moreover in 1951, my first year at the University of Illinois, I resided in the Alpha Kappa Alpha (Gamma Chapter) sorority house, and I and the girls in my pledge group remained bonded and friends all of our lives. And, incidentally, I can tell you that there was no worship of Greek gods there as you falsely claimed. Finally, my father and brother were both members of the Jeptha Lodge chapter of Prince Hall Masons. And my mother was an Easter Star Worthy Matron of Dorcas Chapter, #92. So stfu. aka Contrarian Posted April 29 Report Posted April 29 Finally got around to reading the above BS, having previously exercised my will power to resist the temptation to get the last word in the dialog between me and what's-his- name. But, curiosity got the best of me. Which is more than I can say for Piognat's tantrum. Maneuvering through this turd exhibit did, however, bring about a realization. What I was beholding was the portrait of a desperate, ego-consumed, arrogant, hysterical fool doing one of the few things he does best;regurgitating specious arguments full of irrelevance and lies. In his pathetic, deranged attempt to do damage control, Piognat succeeded only in exposing how mentally unbalanced he is. aka Contrarian Posted April 30 Report Posted April 30 @TroyOf course I know what "crossing the burning sands" means. And you're right. It's simple enough to figure out, but I'm not keen to discuss the secret rituals of Greek organizations on a public forum. I also refuse to allow Piognat to draw me into a conversation where he "controls the narrative". All of this subterfuge he's clouding the issue with has nothing to do with the original dispute about him using the wrong adjective when referring to the soap opera "Beyond the Gates". But his modus operandi is to change the focus and go all off on irrelevant tangents when he can't win an argument. And his failed attempt to "school me" by babbling a lot of drivel was a glaring example of him not knowing what the hell he's talking about inasmuch as his whole premise was based on his WRONG ASSUMPTION about what I "seemed to think". The only legitimate contribution Piognat could've made in his attempt to enlighten, was to point out that I spelled W.E.B. DuBois' name wrong. But he's too ignorant to know that D-u-B-o-s-e was the wrong spelling.

The term "crossing the burning sands" and most of what we've discussed already is pretty common knowledge that can be found all over the internet. The ORIGIN of that term isn't, but the term itself is. You don't know what the REAL secrets are because you dropped out of college ( to sell "stuff" out of the local post office, maybe????) before you got high enough to learn more...lol And his failed attempt to "school me" by babbling a lot of drivel was a glaring example of him not knowing what the hell he's talking about inasmuch as his whole premise was based on his WRONG ASSUMPTION about what I "seemed to think". But THIS is from a person who THOUGHT that the Boule was: 1. An organization of both males and females 2. Merely the collective of Black college Fraternities and Sororities. ....until I educated yo' ass, lol. Now...in your own words...you can't resist...lol. Check it: exercised my will power to resist the temptation to get the last word Yeah... Everybody can see this isn't the ONLY thing you're exercising your will power to "resist the temptation of"...lol. People, Look at her choice of words: I also refuse to allow Piognat to draw me into a conversation where he "controls the narrative". She didn't say she wouldn't allow me to draw her into a conversation! She just doesn't want ME to control the narrative. She doesn't mind being "draw in" as long as SHE gets to sit in the driver's seat once she's in! Oh boy..... Foolin' NOBODY but yourself....lol. I didn’t understand what the benefit of it might be. Pledging seem to help getting females, but that has never been a problem for me. Outside of the social connections you tend to make through these different collegiate fraternities, the main reason is they want to know how well you can keep secrets and be loyal to an organization. That way when you graduate and enter adulthood they know they can trust you with more important things.

They KNOW the Republicans aren't going to do shit about it so their only hope is the Democrat Party and they join hoping to have as much of a positive impact as they can. These are the young Black and Latino Democrats at the local city/county level. But the White Democrats, especially the ones at the state and national levels like Congress KNOW what's up. They KNOW they are part of the system and they know that if they don't tow the line and go along with the agenda: 1. They may end up being "deleted" and 2. Replaced with someone who WILL go along with the agenda It's like the neighborhood drug dealer. He recons that what he's doing is bad, but if HE doesn't do it somebody else is just going to come along and do it anyway so HE may as well be the one to make the money.

Pioneer1 Posted May 19 Report Posted May 19 One of Kamala's most public/visible supporters was and still is Sunny Hostin from The View Skee-whaaaaat???? I remember back when Biden became the Democrat nominee and they were discussing his possible picks for VP, Sunny kept pushing for Kamala Harris for that position. I didn't know what the connection was at the time...lol.
Troy Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 Well it should be know that @Pioneer1’s voluntary financial contributions actually fund this discussion forum. He has never boasted that himself, but is it true. Now obviously that has not stopped me from disagreeing with him, nor has my agreeing with him been a condition of his support. @aka Contrarian, yes it was Mzuri’s “nigger bitch” comment is what got her banned, but it was a last straw thing. Her tirades were just ad hominem and irrational. She did not add anything to the forum. Kola Boof was another story altogether. A talented writer but gave me a ton of grief… I was willing to put up with she creep, but she managed to run Thumper off which was a huge loss. Then she left after using the site to get the notoriety that she desired. The Kola Book, Cynique, ABM repartee were classic though,
