Light skinned couples calling themselves or being called "Black"....hooking up with eachother and the media promoting it big time.

I didn't research and I don't follow any of the actors or actresses in these articles so they're obviously being promoted to the Black audience and general audience as more celebrity gossip.
But mixed up in this entertainment gossip is the poisons of racism and colorism by promoting light skinned "Blacks" as the representatives of the community and suggesting that these are the "ideal" hook ups.

Also, it subconsciously promotes the idea that the "Black children" that result from such hook-ups would be the "ideal" or "designer" children in our community.

Infact, the light skinned children of Kanye West and Jay Z and how they're being promoted are yet another example of how light skinned individuals are being promoted as the ideal representatives of our community.

At the rate things are going with lighter and lighter skinned people being promoted as "Black"....who's to say that a couple of generations from now ACTUAL WHITE people will not only be accepted as but even promoted as the ideal "Black" people?

To those of you who disagree with my stance on how to reverse the colorism in our community.....
Please show me a few RECENT (within the past 20 years) examples DARK SKINNED Black couples being promoted in the media.

Light skin is OBVIOUSLY being promoted as attractive and love interests in the media, so show me examples of how DARK skin is!

No surprise that clebrity gossip has always pushed the Willie Lynch narrative & colorism.

Over time, there have been moments where Hollywood showed dark-skinned actors & actresses.

As mentioned in another thread, Hip-Hop music brought a lot of dark-skinned entertainers to the forefront.

Examples of Hollywood Black couples:

Image result for viola davis husbandImage result for courtney vance wife

Owning media outlets is one way of promoting the images that reflect Black people across the spectrum.

Producing content that features Black folks in healthy, functional situations is another way of reversing the colorism narrative & other stereotypes.

Black folks cannot merely complain about how we are being mistreated &/or portrayed.  We have to rewrite the narratives.😎

You know that Black owned media exists and black owned media emphasizes black love between black people who are not yella/light skin/ideal mulatto/ or similar.

you know black people have access to black owned media in the usa.

So when I see your complaint, it seems to me, what you really want is for non black owned media to present black people a certain way. Am I right?

My problem with your desire is, how can that happen in the USA? is not the usa a multiracial country?

Many people talk about white jews but many websites in the usa, many groups in the usa are publicly anti jewish, no matter a jews phenotype.

All the American civil liberties unions and Defamation Leagues don't stop said anti jewish organizations from posting whole movies online stating the jewish populace, any phenotype, has to be... removed.

So what do you want exactly?

@Pioneer1 My response to  your grievance is to simply state that your stance makes no sense and carries no weight because it's not like you are the official spokesman for dark-skinned people or someone in charge of an organization dedicated to the elimination of colorism.

And, it would be different if the points you bring up amounted to something other than a rant from someone with an axe to grind, a nit-pickin nobody talking out of both sides of his mouth, whose colorism argument never really substantiates his anecdotal claims about dark-skinned blacks being erased from the public eye as part of a secret plot to supplant them with light-skinned ones.

Your paraoid conspiracy theory is not that hard to discredit considering how formerly you, yourself, were quick to snidely point out that, to white folks, light skinned Blacks are no different from their darker kinsmen because we are all just "niggers" to them. I agree and don't see how what you accuse Whites of doing, benefits them. What difference does it make to them how melanated the skin of a minority member is? You're really obsessed with skin color yourself, judgmental about red bone high-yellows, while making sure to upgrade yourself from those with brown skin. Big deal.

It's very tempting to take a page from your devious playbook, and do what you do, which is to make up self-serving scenarios to reinforce your strawman ploys.

I could cast you as a phony "blacker-the-berry-sweeter-the-juice" pimp who "gets off" from being a hero to some vulnerable  self-pitying dark-skinned sista.

Instead, I'll just describe you as a nit-pickin' nobody on a fool 's errand, a dedicated black supremist who, were the tables turned, would act no different from the Whites he feels so oppressed by. Whatever. It's a dog eat-dog world.

Sooo, you will, undoubtedly  continue your wanna-be quest to be a Messiah while emulating the narcisstic Donald Trump, resorting to whatever it takes in order to control the narrative,

Knock yourself out.

zzzzzzzzz. Slow afternoon...

Yes...they are the being portrayed as the ideal.....they actually are commercial sales and marketing bodies and faces

These are celebrities....not role models

Anyone treating them as role models has made a grievous mistake..

But I do think it is also a case of their parents being celebs

No not exactly. Think of the algorithm's goal -- to maximize revenue (show you more sponsored content and ads) and it does this by keeping you engaged showing you what you "view most often" is simplistic. You view most often what you are shown and you are shown what keeps you engaged, so there is a strong bias to rage bait, celebrity gossip/scandal/humorous content, that is quickly consumed over things things requiring thought, contemplation, nuanced, or simply reading.

Consider the heading, "Boris Kodjoe Told “Soul Food” Costar Nicole Ari Parker She Was Going Be His Wife While She Was Engaged to Someone Else." Scandal and when you layer on colorism it is a great way to attract attention. This stuff does not interest me at all, but I can see where other would be.

Solange's son, 21, sparks dating rumors with reality star Tommie Lee, 41.  You have what whiff of celebrity pedopilia, with man who looks like a woman with a mustache...

Look I know none of us spend hours scrolling through a TikTok feed, but a great many other people do.  Our best and brightest strive work for these companies.

But the problem is this is just human nature; we wanna see car wrecks. everything else is boring.

Black-owned platforms trying to do serve people will have to compete with the celebrity scandal and that is hard.

Over time, there have been moments where Hollywood showed dark-skinned actors & actresses.

How often are they show as couples TOGETHER?
Either in the movies OR in real life?

It's usually a dark skinned Black person with a light skinned partner....OR Latina OR White.

Since the 70s you haven't really seen two dark skinned Black people making love to eachother except for the movie Queen and Slim

Queen & Slim: The Unexpected Second Date Adventure

Black folks cannot merely complain about how we are being mistreated &/or portrayed.  We have to rewrite the narratives.

People generally don't complain about something they DO NOT see as a problem.

Just like most people on this site don't see an actual "problem" with dark skinned people not being portrayed as beautiful and attractive and wanted....it appears that most Black people in general don't see it as a problem either.
Some of us do....but most could care less and are indifferent to it.

I used to hear SOME dark skinned Black women complaining about it back in the 80s and 90s....about how light skinned women got preferential treatment.  I don't even hear them complain about it much now.
Many are either lesbian or with White partners.

They won't even bother complaining to deaf ears about it, let along fight against it.

I could cast you as a phony "blacker-the-berry-sweeter-the-juice" pimp who "gets off" from being a hero to some vulnerable  self-pitying dark-skinned sista.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a "pimp" but I have benefited....sometimes sexually...from speaking to and addressing the hurt a lot of Black women have felt for various reasons whether it's from being dark-skinned, being a foreigner in another country, coming from an abusive relationship, etc.

I stand by that and see nothing wrong with it.

who, were the tables turned, would act no different from the Whites he feels so oppressed by.

Not exactly.
Some of their behaviors I'd adopt, others I wouldn't.

I'm not into celebrity gossip.

Again, they're being PUT there....like many other ads that we don't ask for.

However do you see the point I am making ABOUT them?
The fact that these yellow/tan people ARE being promoted as role models?

People who have enough sense to promote the IMAGE of who they want the future to look like.

Exactly, that's how they sucker a lot of people in.

You may not INITIALLY be interested but pop up enough random material enough times....they're BOUND to send you something you'll like and then you'll go down the rabbit hole looking for more.
But they hook you by offering you the initial bait you didn't even want or ask for.

Like a drug pusher in the school yard.
They keep pushing different products on you and different times UNTIL they get you hooked on something.

I researched none of these people in any way shape or form NOR did I research "Black celebrities" or "light skinned Blacks".
I haven't even said it....lol.
There is no reason for the internet to somehow "pick up" on this and send me these images EXCEPT the fact that they know if you're a Black user and these are the images they are intentionally promoting to Black users.
