March on Washington 2026: Defend the Vote

Today we march. Live from the Lincoln Memorial, Friday, August 28, 2026. Sixty three years after 1963, we return to defend the vote.

I didn't realize until day of the event that there was going to be a March on Washington. Heard about it on the news.

Rev. Al Sharpton was keynote speaker. The focus of the march was voting & civil rights & economic justice.

Admittedly, I did not attend the march nor tune in to coverage. Only if they talked about reparations did I missed something.😁

Hopefully, they were able to attract some younger people too. 😎

It barely made the news.

But then again...........

Most people spend most of their time on the internet instead of watching tv or listening to the radio, so if you didn't actively LOOK for it....you could have easily missed it.

In some regards, things were better when society and technology was much simpler.

Everybody watched the same 3 or 4 television stations and unless you were in the government and had access to secret knowledge, everybody was on the same page with the information and what was going on.

Now people are living in their own little worlds.

Today's technology should make it easier to spread news.

No shortage of people on social media sites. Many of them have podcasts too.

I would imagine the march was well attended. Probably not a quarter million people like 1963.

The good news is because everything seems to get recorded nowadays, it should be easy to find videos from the march.

Maybe I'll check out the Cliffs Notes version of the event.😁😎

The problem is much of the "news" is actually false.

More information doesn't necessarily equate to more facts.

Often times on the internet you have to dig through a ton of garbage just to find the facts of a given event.

No shortage of people on social media sites. Many of them have podcasts too.

They have it every year and typically talk about the same shit, so probably not even 10,000...lol.

Most people aren't in the mood for marching today.

They're in the mood for ACTION.

They have real problems that need real solutions, not a bunch of symbolism and motivational speeches or redundantly telling us what we need to do.

We know we need to become more politically active as a people...so who do we have to be active for?

We know the housing and job situations in our communities are shitty....so where is the plan to build better housing and provide better paying jobs?

The good news is because everything seems to get recorded nowadays, it should be easy to find videos from the march.

Like my cousin used to tell me on one of my frequent ventures leaving Detroit to go down South or out West in search of greener pastures.

He'd sit back with a blunt in his hand and a grin on his face and say: "Aaight den. If you find something sweet....let a nigga know."

I'm not going to waste time looking for it.
I'd rather spend free time on a Sunday watching half naked African women, lol.
But if YOU find something out of that event worth even keeping space in somebody's mind...let me know, lol.

It could be, but the goal of technology is not to share valuable or useful information or to enlighten the public--the goal is to make money for the owners of the technology. If useful information happens to be shared that is great, but it is not the motivation. Truth is just as valuable as lies in the paradigm.

I did not know about this until just now. But you guys are interested in sharing information important to Black people.

It seems that as the Rev. Al Sharpton lost all that weight....he lost most of his charisma with it....lol.

He's not as popular with the community as he used to be.

Some say he's been compromised.
I'm not sure about that.
When I listen to his current speeches, he sounds just as bold and sharp as he did 30 and 40 years ago, but the times are different and he's operating on a different frequency than what's needed to reach the Black community today. Especially the youth.
